if you know about the ocarina of time spliting the timeline into two the adult timeline, and the child timeline wind waker takes place on the adult timeline and in ocarina of time after you beat the forest temple you break the curse on the kokiri forest allowing the great deku tree to sprout.

I actually had to read an article on the difference between flying and gliding animals for my practice ACT's! Turns out, the difference is how far they can travel through the air before they hit the ground, and the angle at which they descend whilst gliding...I'm not doing a very good job explaining. Either way, Video game programmers would do well to read it.

if ya wanna kill the octo thing with your sword use the great spin when you leave the deku tree place but dont go right at the octo go to the side of it the spin has greater range then normal so after some practice you should be able to kill it i would record and show you but my family is cheap and we dont even have a camera to use let alone a video recorder

Actually this deku tree can't be the old deku tree sprout because since in the adult timeline of oot all of hyrule was flooded so the old tree would have been trapped under the water. And because the flood happened pretty much not that long after oot then it wouldnt have time to mature. It could be another tree sprout that grew on top of the original tree. As for the forbidden forest it probably just something that grew over the forest temple.
