I just found out about this today and i can't quit thinking about it. I definitely need to catch up cause I only have 843 words but I have a lot of time on my hands so thats a plus.
If you have the time...take the journey. Let the competition be whatever you want it to be. For some its just enough to get writing each day. For others, its finding a story. For me, I've chosen to spend a month inhabiting a world (story world) that I thought would be fun to explore...not to mention to take a character and make her learn something and then change as a result. Check out John Truby's book Anatomy of Story...if you need a helping hand. DO IT!
I'm a first timer too with Nanowrimo. It's not my first time writing a book, just doing it with 100,000 people around the world. I'm super excited as well.
hi jennifercapo, good luck on your novel. i too am attempting NaNoWriMo for the first time. I am finding it quite difficult (to say the least.) ... hmmm "Jumping off cliffs... Shark infested water?" Sounds like you already have the creative juices flowing!!! pass some of that energy my way would ya? i could use the help, haha. Good Luck =}
First time? I'm finding that the experience is taking over almost all of my mindspace. Was happy to get that 7 hours of sleep. Also, feels like I am just writing to get the story out instead of taking a ton of time to edit each line and careful choose my words? I think that might be the idea. Is this your experience?
I think that's the best thing any writer can do. Just get the story out on paper. You can always go back later and perfect it. If you spend all your time editing, which I used to do all the time, you'll never really get ahead. You'll cut your nose off to spite your face.
Thanks! I think you should embrace "the weird". Have you looked around lately...things are pretty strange out here in the world ---what's normal these days. :)
Who else thinks that Jennifer is the CUTEST chick on youtube? ;]
...shes like a model >.>
grrrr, they certainly dont make em like this anymore... LOL!

I'm afraid of heights! Now that I'm in the water, as long as I keep looking at the land....I think I can tread here for a little while!
Thanks

Maybe I should. I have to write something one day! You got me inspired with "the weird" thing. =D Now I only need the subject...
