I live in Minneapolis and yes the skyways are located on private properties that place being one of them, you can even Google it which you should have done before you went and made your self look bad.

Usually security and cops will spew all kinds of stuff that isn't true. KNOW THE LAW before you engage in direct action. It's also wise to have a small hand out available if they argue with you, citing the laws that apply to your particular action.
