  • My older was in the Army in Ft. Irwin, Calif and brought me a cassette tape to me in Kentucky in 1994.... It was my first punk techno band I ever heard.... goodtimes, goodtimes... Thanks for posting!

  • I'm trying to learn German and... can a German speaker explain me why they have used the article "dem" instead of "den" for Strand? Because, as far as I know, it's a masculine noun, and the "auf" asks for the accusative (den), right?

By the way, awesome song :P

  • @11010646 Oh, forget it, I've got it already... Auf is both acc. or dat. depending on the context... (I could erase these comments but let them here just in case someone has the same doubt...) :P

  • This Track Is The Bomb!

  • Einstein ist auf dem Strand nun Und die Fahnen klappern Einstein ist auf dem Strand nun Traenenbenetzte Augen Und der Wind macht den Sand fliegend Einstien in on the beach now, And the flags wave. Einstein is on the beach now, Eyes tear, And the wind makes the sand fly...
  • I've seen them live at "Stufenbau Ittigen" many years ago! And I think my picture is wonderful (Tyranny >For You<)!

  • me mola!

  • i love them so much i would love be on stage as their backing singer, having fun on stage with them

  • i love Front 242 their tunes are mixture of post punk, psychedelic , ebm and industrial dark wave, totally love their sound, awesome

  • Amazing....

  • sans aucun , leur meilleur album!!!!

  • thanks

  • @anden: yeah i was a kid in those days. And one allways glorifies childhood ;-) But it´s just like you say. One didn´t know exactly what was going on, but you knew something wasn´t right....The end of the cold war was the end for many army barracks and the communities that lived there. I wish i had been an adult back then, allthough it wouldnt have been as mysterious then.....

  • einstein was against the atomic bomb to be dropped in hiroshima...

  • @orlando318: got exact same feeling - what strange times the early 80s were, especially when you were a kid, so many concepts, places were mysterious and impossible to understand like nuclear war, the iron curtain, Western Europe terroism. To me, Front 242 capture the zeitgeist of that era crystal clear.

  • never reached this. To me this music embodies the cold war. Brings back the days of mysterious army barracks with hostile fences every 10 kms throughout the whole of europa. The sight of allied soldeirs in some kind of field exercise. That vague fear of the atomic bomb, that it could be all over in the blink of an eye.....

  • i have been looking ages for good 80s techno music

  • @iluvbevisandbutthea1 Re good 80s techno music, check out bounce your body to the box (power hit mix) that is some good 80s techno music!

  • total genius

  • cUBE dESTINATION

  • body to body !!!!!!

  • wow ...

  • Supreme cold wave sound, how the fuck did this slip by my radar?

  • najczystsza forma elektroniki od nieskonczonosci do dzis...

  • "ready to Fight"...

  • @tuddilu:

    Looked it up,they used Roland System 100,Roland MC4 Sequencer,Roland TR-808,PPG Wave,Yamaha E 1005 delay,Boss RX-100 Reverb.

  • Cool. Real. Listening this song you can image winter in Russia: grey sky, dirty frozen dark streets, cool breath and hot heart, ice sounds of this song in headphones.

  • UNA ROLA QUE ME TRANQUILIZA Y RELAJA CUANDO ANDO MUY SPEED!!

  • Lots of nice analog synthesizers on this one, that's what makes it so powerful!

  • @roetsj Most likely the roland system 100 yes. Not sure about the drums, any hints?

  • einstein justplagiarised Poincaré

    242, anyway!

  • Classic.

  • Front 242 were amazing back in the 1990s...

Richard 23 was always wearing superb "Glacier" sunglasses ... EBM !

  • excellent

  • ... the mustard. So Kraftwerk .... Abraham, eat your heart out. :-)

  • TRANSLATION

Einstein is now on the beach

    And rattle the flags

Einstein is now on the beach

And the wind makes the sand fly

    Hand grenades - for battle

Essentially, physics created bombs that make sand fly and now they are used instead of handgrenades.

  • libi se my front 242

  • GREAT

  • I can still remember the day...

Standing in WaxTrax and buying Geography.

    The good old days.

    Cheers

  • Wunderbar!

  • @guerrero1106 /rolleyes

  • @guerrero1106

    hell yeah :P

  • @guerrero1106 sounds nazi

  • klaine ta organa.....apisteyth atmosfaira!!!!

  • @guerrero1106

You could at least have written "Deutschland", but I guess this was to difficult for someone with your intellectual level... "Deutschland" in English is "Germany" by the way and the Germany of Kant, Goethe, Planck and Nietzsche doesn't need people like you...

  • This might just be my favorite front 242 song

  • thank you!

  • mindblowing!!

  • SS UR

  • By far one of my favorite songs from 242, and I love their entire range (in years) of music. Beautiful.

  • 1982..unbelievable. Makes me feel like I'm floating in a coma.

Powerful music like this is dead today.

  • not really... amon tobin, lebelgeelectrod, nathan fake, aphex twin, vector lovers, ...

  • Not true there is much amazing music out here but it must be sought out.

  • @warinspiredidiot Music like this is still strong and prosper. We have band like Autodafeh, Spetsnaz and SPARK! and Nitzer Ebb is still kicking. :)

  • @warinspiredidiot is it? try amon tobin, aphex twin, vector lovers, lebelegeelectrod and so many others

  • music like that dont come no more today....

  • like a trance/dream

  • la ostia puta!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • tre-men-do

  • Rough (and slightly stylized) translation:

    Einstein is on the beach

    And the banners clap

    Eyes moist with tears

    The wind lifts the sand

    Grenades - ready for war

  • This is just so good, I have not heard this for years.

    The lyrics btw:

Einstein ist auf dem Strand nun

    Und die Fahnen klappern

Einstein ist auf dem Strand nun

    Traenenbenetzte Augen

Und der Wind macht den Sand fliegend

    Handgranaten - kampfbereit

  • 242 ist immer irgendwo in Deinem Leben

  • * * * * *

  • Best Belgian Band ever! :)

  • Im American with German roots, and I cant speak German, but I can read it with a perfect German accent..I love the way the language sounds...

  • unks wanks hanks monks donks üns thanks, i know how to write in german too

  • no mr. retard.

    that's not what it's about

  • try Red Team song of Front 242. My hate is your pain, your pain is my victory...

B-Ascona, Golf 1 GTI, Manta B. Das waren geile Zeiten.

  • front 242 is the best op grensrock menen verry nice

  • Rough (and slightly stylized) translation:

    Einstein is on the beach

    And the banners clap

    Eyes moist with tears

    The wind lifts the sand

    Grenades - ready for war

  • Handgrenades - ready for battle ;-)

  • Grenade in hand...ready to fight! (Parangaricutirimicuaro tin marin de do pingüé). = P

  • Well... I would translate it as "Handgrenades - ready to fight" (it doesn't really say "granades in hand").

Just a detail - front 242 always play these games where you never know what side they're really on - it does give me a lot of goosebumps though :)

  • google video search Alex Jones if you havent already .. you can watch his full movies there .. do not lick the boots of the new world order <3

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=HOW MUCH I LUV FRONT 242!

  • autotron

  • I dont speak German. Kampfbereit I think means "ready for war" is that right. Could anyone tell me what the lyrics mean in English Please? I have listened to this song since the 80's and loved it.

  • This almost sounds like Kraftwerk. Fun to hear from where they developed their unique sound.

  • Prepared to fight!

  • Schon mal was von KUNST / ART / ARS gehört?? Die Fascho-Diskussion bei Front242 ist absolut lächerlich.

  • kampfbereit !

  • I have no idea what that means, but im giving you a thumbs-up

  • Something about Einstein rejecting the unified (physics) theory I think

  • +1

Or at least the notion of non-deterministic quantum mechanical theory!

Most likely the Handgranaten are some symbolic reference to hidden variables?

    XD

  • even there some hidden variables the quantum mechanic is not determinist but probabilist: there is an ultimate freedom for particles so for us!

  • @unit335 Haha, word.

  • @neocoders The song is not about Einstein... lol. "Einstein" is actually "ein Stein" which is "a stone" as in "Ein stein ist auf dem Strand" (A stone is on the beach)...

  • @Vaansen Yeah. That's why the vid is full of mushroom clouds, cause stones on the beach just happen to explode like that.

  • Danke.

  • weil beligisch? lol hitler war österreicher *schmunzel

  • Austrian Jew, nothing against Jews at all, its just makes sense. I mean, look at him! Not exactly nordic looking.

  • Thank you Front 242 for superb EBM in the 80:s! Love this group and lyrics at that time.

  • Great song. My best song is no shuffle ...

POM POM POM POM POM POMP PSHHHHH There's no shuffle here here on the north pole ...

  • Headhunter the best. Don`t you think so?

  • Yeah, it's pretty awesome...but it was already on YT! Kampfbereit wasn't.

  • What's their best album to begin with? Thanx

  • Ín my opinion, Front by Front is thee best one.

  • start from the 80's, from far their most innovative years. if u want an overlook on those years, try to find the best of 'backcatalogue'.

  • WICKED

  • Amazingly simple melody and still so strong after all these years...

  • This song was released when I was 9 years old. I first listened to it when I was 15. I'm now 35 and I still love it. It's so beautiful, haunting, and timeless.

  • one of the few old 242 songs that actually had some melody and tempo. definitley one of their better ones.

  • yes this is remarkeably clear and down tempo. so simple, so brilliant

  • Canción visionaria...Such a grainy, rough and truly unique sounds!

  • good tune

  • This is one of my favorites by Front 242 too. To me, Geography is their best album

  • le meilleur de front 242,

    ahh la bonne époque.

  • good good front 242 ...

  • froid comme la guerre froide. definitif.

  • Geography is definitely my favorite 242 album, it just gets better and better over the years. Every time I comeback to it there just seems to be even more depth to it.

  • one of their best. cryptic as fuck too.

  • The calm before the storm, Combatready.

  • Das Lied ist einfach nur Klasse!!!

    Einstein ist auferstanden und...

  • I'm so happy to see Front endure to this day. The sound and style never gets old and I hope more people will discover Front for years to come! Thanks, I love Kampfbereit! Hard to pick a favorite, but it's up there! ;)

  • IMO it's hard to find people who can make a synth sing like Front 242 could. This is my favorite song of theirs. I'm surprised that it wasn't already uploaded.....

    btw, forgive the amateur editing.

  • thanks unit.

This is one of my favorites by Front 242 too. To me, Geography is their best album

  • Also my favourite Front 242 song, by the way. Thanks for posting it. It was about time someone did it.

  • Download the VST synth Sylenth1.

Install it on your host software (cubase, fruity loops).

    130 BPM ( I suppose )

    Use the "Moog Bass" preset.

Work on the sound and the effects like the phaser.

For the other sounds use Sylenth1 again or PRO-53.

    Anyway, good song at all.

But now they lost this 80s style...

  • Wow. What an incredibly awesome comment. I think I'm going to try your suggestion. Thanks!

  • In sylenth1 activate arp effect and set:

    octave: 2 wrap: 1

I just supposed this setting. So work on it if it doesn't sound as the same!

  • Will that work in garage band?

  • what's the meaning? :(

  • I will edit the video's info to include a rough translation. The lyrics are a bit poetic and open to interpretation, though.

  • ok but i understood the meaning... anyway... people could think differently from my opinion... (that i'll never expose)... however lyrics are ok for 20 years ago...

  • Sorry milano, I misunderstood your question. I will leave the translation up for others to read, though.

  • I wish to know if the VST synth sylenth1 works in garageband for mac?

  • i think that there's a version for mac too... but... sylenth1 it's only an example... there are many different vstS that do the same sounds
