I'm sorry your program didn't work on my machine, its really cool. Maybe in the future you'll develop one that's Vista & windows compatible...I know those OS can be a real pain in the ass. Yo Ray, Im in big trouble.......I tested out the program, thought it was workin fine, so I set the LCARS shell to run when I restarted windows. Well now when the computer boots up theres nothing but a black screen, nothing. Dude, Im freakin out...you gotta understand I work online, my whole life is on there. Please tell me theres a way around this. I promise you I wont bother you again if you help me out of this...how do I undo the LCARS shell?

@Credithelper75 Hit ALT+CTRL+DEL and choose "Start Task Manager". Then click "File" then "New Task". Type "regedit" (no quotes) and hit ok. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Mi­crosoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion. In the right pane, double click on "Shell". Change the value to "Explorer.exe" (no quotes). Then, go back to task manager and go to File> New Task and type "Explorer" (no quotes) and hit ok. Explorer should load like normal. I forgot, Vista and 7 don't like shell mode b/c of UAC.

@Credithelper75 Make sure you are logged in, then choose a forum category (like "General LCARS x32"). You should see a link that says "New Topic" on the right hand side (just below the navigation bar).

Ok Ray, by the way, I haven't introduced myself, my names Trevor. Anyways I downloaded the file you said to use...tried to extract it, did that. then tried to "run"...denied! LoL Plus That dam system 47 screen saver still wont work, flash saver wont work. LoL Everytime I try one these programs it keeps saying "Windows has stopped working." Its like they don't even speak the same language, whats you best recommendation bro?

Boy you've got that right, Windows can be are own worst enemy, LoL Well I think I'm going to do it tomorrow, go ahead and download the LCARS program. However, I've noticed there are so many files and updates, I'm not quit sure which one is just the actual program itself. Also, one big question Ray....the LCARS system is totally different then anything Ive ever deal with before. If I cant figure it out or if it doesn't load right....I can switch back to the regular windows vista right?

@Credithelper75 I would recommend the "Incremental Build". It's the latest version of things. The "Release Version" is actually more than a year old. Other than the bugs I mentioned, the Incremental build is quite stable. If you run into problems, there's always someone on the forums willing to help.

You can run LCARS x32 like any other program. You don't have to use it as your shell. Whenever you want to go back to Windows, you just hit "Deactivate" then choose "Close LCARS".

Ok I tried to extract the flashsaver file to the system 32 folder.......wouldn't let me do it, said access denied, may require administrative privilege. I figure Ive got some security program preventing me from extracting the files. Would you know off hand which one Ray?

@Credithelper75 Try extracting it to the desktop. Some folders are blocked by Windows itselft (it's stupid!) like the C:\ base folder.

You can use auto destruct, just not on "Alarm" mode. BTW: Feel free to join the forums! The more the merrier.

@Credithelper75 Go to my site and under "Download" choose "Community Projects". The top download is a file called "Flashsaver". I wrote it specifically to fix the System47 screen saver problem. You can also use it to use the various flash LCARS animations available on the web as a screen saver.

The bug with 64 bit OS's isn't major. You just can't use "Auto Destruct" or the "Red Alert" or "Alert" buttons. It's a problem with the audio library I used. I'm switching to a 64 bit one.

@Credithelper75 Actually, it is compatible with everything from Windows 98 through Windows 7. There's a bug with the 64-bit versions of Windows but that will be resolved in the next release.

I plan on downloading this but am curious how to get back to the original windows shell if for some reason I decide I don't like the LCARS shell (which I highly doubt I won't like it, lol). I just don't like downloading stuff without first knowing how to uninstall it.

I understand :) Right now it doesn't take over as the default shell for the computer, so to get back to Windows, just click on the "Deactivate" button. Also, if you don't like the program, you can uninstall it from Add/Remove Programs just like any other program.

Other than not being able to access "network connections" and "control panel" (which know will happen as this is a work in progress), I really enjoy this shell. Can't wait for a full release. Also, as far as the animation, wouldn't it be better to actually go with a swiping animation across the panels, rather than making one row disappear at a time? Surely that's time consuming and annoying for an avid user.

Nice gui. I wonder if there is code that can be written to make the windows components more touch friendly. I've found that many of the items ment for a mouse pointer aren't so handy with a finger.
