  • Lee wore a green bandana.. Look it up yourselves.

  • rock on!

  • KEVAN TYNES recorded with Larry Lee and stayed at his house for a week with Al Green's ex drummer Aaron Purdie.

  • I met Larry Lee and had the fortunate pleasure of watching him play with Al Green. He was an amazing musician even well up into the 2000's. May he rest in peace.

  • Larry Lee was a life long Memphian and he is a superb example of the unique talent that comes out that city. Eric Gales is the new young Memphis " gitar slinger " who is taking it up a notch and Shawn Lane was another picker who was a awesome guitar player from Memphis. I grew up in Memphis and believe me Larry was the real "shit ". Not like all these other Hendrix wanabee's that came after. Outside of that white boy named Elvis so much of the cities musicians get little or no recognition!

  • Larry was real deal. After Jimi's death a lot of guitar pickers wanted to step into those shoes.

Larry could have done it with ease. Larry and Jimi

learned form each other and Larry was just as skillfull as Jimi in his own way. This is before Ernie Isley and all other pickers both black and white tried to emulate Hendrix. Larry was a

old friend as was Biily Cox. These guys all hung out together back in the Nashvile days.

  • you are both wrong. not red not black, he had a green scarf over his face at woodstock

  • This is great, but so sad. I finally track down ignored, never heard music of Larry Lee to also learn he passed away last year. I have the Woodstock DVD's.

  • yo larry, hows Jimi up there man?

  • One of the best blues players ever, period. Why Jimi called him for the Woodstock gig?

  • he had the scarf over his face and was on guitar (took a solo in spanish castle magic) even jimi says so in the dvd when he introduces the band he say's and we have larry lee over there with the red scarf over his face.

  • Truly the SHIT! Didn't know that he passed!!!!! RIP my brother.

  • This guy had the mojo, man, I'm speechless.

  • Damn Larry Lee!, he's a legend

  • Larry had just got back from Vietnam and next minute he's on stage with Hendrix at Woodstock....he wore that fringed scarf across his face cos he thought that's waht hippy's did...what a cool dude...RIP Mr Lee, we loved you

  • RIP Larry....you were a real friend to Jimi....and a great musician......if anyone's seen the Woodstock DVD where Larry and Bill Cox are interviewed Larry's warmth, humanity, humility and gentle sense of humour just come across so amazingly......at a time of personal and professional crisis Jimi turned to Larryand Bill what a pity those idiots at Experience Hendrix removed Larry's great vocal performance (plus stunning and beautiful Hendrix guitar) on Gypsy Woman/Aware of Love and Mastermind....

  • No, that was Billy Cox. He had a black scarf on his face.

  • Billy Cox Had the Turbin on, Larry Lee had the face fringes over his eyes

  • He played at Woodstock with Hendrix. He's a great player.

  • was he the guy in the red turban? playing the white bass?

  • nope that was billy cox larry lee was the guy with the green head strap across his forhead

  • ic. i just though it was trippy becasue larry lee is my real name and that dude in the red turban looks exactly like me.

  • anyone think this sounds a bit like jam back at the house?

  • Wordu Up Al !! Now thatz Proper !!

  • Very nice. Two weeks from Nam and he gets called up by Jimi. Great decision by Hendrix. RIP Larry Lee.

  • he's dead?

  • He passed in October.

  • Great Performance Mr. Lee!!!

  • Lawrence H. Lee Jr. LAWRENCE H. "Larry" LEE, JR., 64, of Memphis, musician, died October 29, 2007 at the Veterans Medical Center.

  • is a full version of this and where can i get it!!

  • Wow, very nice :-) And no mask this time, like at Woodstock. RIP Larry.

  • God Bless You Larry!! Keep rockin there in Heaven next to Jimi!!

  • LL loved many

    and played burning guitar

    across the sand

I salute him and his family

    for his last moments

    ever on dry land

our machine has done its work

    played its part well

no more of the killing noise

    or the out of style...

  • In memory of a Great Musician, Father, and Man.
