Awesome fight scenes, plus much-needed characterization for Megatron and Starscream (which was missing from the first movie), and the introduction of Arcee and Sideswipe... BUT ALMOST THE WHOLE MOVIE WAS MUDFLAP, SKIDZ, AND STUPID "HUMOR." They also totally ruined Jetfire, who I was looking forward to. Dark of the Moon better be MUCH MUCH better in terms of keeping the spotlight on the characters people care about.

Who cares that these movies differenciate from the cartoons dip-shits. The point is is that they want to make these movies more realistic to modern life. You'd really prefer seeing Optimus Primes trailer appear out of now where everytime he transformed into the truck, you'd seriously want Megatron to turn into the pistol that would magically shrink so a fellow decepticon could use him to fire. Yes, actually I would prefer lots of un-realistic scenarios like that as opposed to the movie we were given. I enjoyed the first move, I'm just saying I would prefer a movie that was 100% true to the cartoon/comics over what was delivered.

I would rather have Bumblebee as the young, inexperienced, but spunky and determined character he was in the 80's as opposed to the mute with the personality of a dog we got with the first movie. I could really care less if he turned into a Camaro, VW Bug, or a pile of elephant crap. (Ideally it would be a modern compact of some type.)

I just want some Transformers that have personalities that are more than cliches and some character development. Not to mention the underlying lore was good.

A financial success, maybe. But I was tremendously disappointed in the '07 movie. The animated one in '86 was more intelligent, had better writing, better characterization (even the robots!), and an actual plot instead of just an excuse for getting from one fight scene to the next. Michael Bay gave the audience no credit whatsoever. And yet ... I'm gonna see the sequel anyway. I admit it. :)

Well obviously you don't know much about story dynamics, the type or number of characters don't affect the depth too much, its all in the story itself. Cast Away is a perfect example, the whole movie is almost just one character but the plot gives it amazing depth. So without actually watching the movie I don't think you should judge it on its depth cause a trailer is well just a trailer and doesn't reveal all that much.
