Research what equipment you need. Try ebay, yard sales and flea markets, sometimes you get a good deal. I have a Kelty pack, Hiked the AT and the Grand Canyon, works great. You have to bare in mind the weight, you have to carry it over all kinds of terrain, OUNCES COUNT! I have tried a lot of equipment and what I have now works for me.
Another good hint for people, many serious packers update every few years and you can find great deals on last years packs with little wear for half the price of craigs list or ebay or other such sights.
Actually ,all that equipment is top notch.I hiked and camped the trail along the Red River Gorge for two years and that stuff should hold up as good as any.We packed everything to last a week.Keep a couple small towels with you so you can wipe your body though.
are you guys attacking the fact he's fat or the idea he's able to be fat make videos, pay his bills, buy these awesome toys etc etc etc, I think its all subconscious FYI if he had to survive a shtf situation you have to remember the miles and miles of like minded rednecks that will straight up peal your scalp back if you come around spouting that kind of useless non constructive bull shit social commentary
Brother you are the man. Your knowledge and insight is top notch. Sorry you got injured and have to deal with that pain in life. Been there myself. I wish to get back to backpacking but I know my knee and hip will not agree with me.
Friend, I am sad that so many viewers have nothing more encouraging or generous to offer than comments on your weight. I can barely read a page of their crap without feeling so bad that I gotta stop. I can only imagine how it affects you. Dsarti, you are a kind soul with a fun loving wit, and now and again I get a great insight from your words. Thank you for your continued contributions to the prepper community. May you have strength of heart and peace of mind.
WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOURS. YOUR HEART WAS PROBABLY IN THE RIGHT PLACE. HE KNOWS WHO HE IS, AND WHAT HIS PROBLEMS ARE. I KNOW HE IS A KIND, SHARING, A GENTLE MAN.... JUST LIKE JESUS CHRIST. KINDNESS IS THE ANSWER. TRY IT.... KINDNESS WORKS.
Many times you can find this stuff on E-bay and Craigslist for cheap. A lot of people buy all the equipment to go hiking and hang it up after the first outing. :) c
my good friend I have eight large bags and four super large rubbermaid toats
In the boxes is a Mass Care Basic kitchen kit Minus the 10' by10' tent Pots pans arpons gloves measuring cups two Large Coffee pots enough Gear to start cooking and feeding in about two hours about 25 to 30 people that maybe on a search team looking for a child and/or Senior lost in the woods Enough coffee, chocolate, tea,... powered drink mix for all 30 people for six hour operation .
chk'd out the mag it has some useful info, never heard of it before, mine is military surplus its rugged but a little heavy. remember your goat video thats what i intend on using and i got that idea from you. plus eat him if times get hard, why are people so narrow minded to always attack your weight, if they would only listen to you they would definitely learn something. i learned alot from your vids something else ive added to my pack which doesnt weigh much is a small umbrella, catch water
@dsarti1 You can heal yourself completely. All you need to do is watch the movie called "fat, sick, and nearly dead" for free on Hulu: hulu dot com / watch / 289122 / fat-sick-and-nearly-dead
@NoNORADon911 WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOURS. YOU HEART WAS PROBABLY IN THE RIGHT PLACE. HE KNOWS WHO HE IS, AND WHAT HIS PROBLEMS ARE. I KNOW HE IS A KIND, SHARING, A GENTLE MAN.... JUST LIKE JESUS CHRIST. KINDNESS IS THE ANSWER. TRY IT.... KINDNESS WORKS.
@NoNORADon911 fyi if you have been following this channel you would know Dave had an accident which caused him to gain so much weight etc. He hints at this at the beginning of this video.
i've been trying to build up the motivation to do the appalachian trail, but ever since i hit 38, i can't even build up the motivation to go fishing locally. as a result, i'm out of shape and putting on the pounds.
People can also go to Backpacker mags. website and there you can see the product evaluations on every kind of equipment a backpacker can use. They actually do field testing and then rate each equipment item by manufacturer. Like someone else said, the equipment you have is still very good quality although time always has seen newer and lighter more high tech stuff along the way. Very good vid. and good Tips for people.
Should still be good equipment indeed even tho they do have lighter versions of most shown in this video. But 1 gallon of water on TOP of the backpack is kinda silly. Heavy stuff belong at the bottom of the pack.
I had thought of doing the same trail until my back and knees went out. Looks like you had a good first aid kit on it too. Thanks for the heads up on backpacker.
Good info.

Gregory backpacks are one the best in the world. The only one that might be better is Kelty backpacks. My opinion !

You are so worried about surviving but not your health or weight?
A heart attack at a early age should be your #1 concern,
You sound out of breath just standing there bro.
Non of that gear or Jesus will save you, maybe buy a defibrillator?
Thanks for the non political, non religious vids.
