@hadeedahmed1 - Well... it should be immersed in the water for the pull phase, and out of the water for the recovery phase. If your shoulder is pushing water during the recovery, it's going to create more resistance.
@Bergunthera - Then you probably shouldn't do it. For others who don't have those issues, this is simply an idea to initiate the feelings of a type of recovery. It's good that you've come to the point in your swimming that you're aware what hurts you. That's part of the point of drills. Congrats on your discovery. :)

I don't think practising putting excess strain on your rotator cuffs is such a good idea
