I used Houdini VERY briefly, but this was a superb operator. Kinda reminds me of the nvidia tech demo of all the balls hitting the musical instruments. Cool!

Yeah. That's the one. I didn't realise there was quite a collection of them. I thought the one nvidia chose was the best of the bunch.

cool song and orginal, next time don't dim or blurr the whole screen,it is disttracting. Overall it was complicated but looked great.

how hard is it to configure houdini to read midi file or does the software already has this function ?

Houdini Master comes with MIDI channel operators that will identify when MIDI events occur. That did the majority of the MIDI work but I still had to write custom channel operators to find out extra information such as the duration of the current note. After that it's a matter of creative math and scripting to transform the binary MIDI information into 3d animation.
