SMH, show Joli OS booting from a Samsung Series 5 chromebook. This video is a horrible comparison. Thats like saying a Silverado truck should run the same speed as a covrette since they both have 350's.  The Samsung Chromebook has better internal specs in conjuction with an SSD. The little netbook running joli OS is running off some old hardware and probably a 5400RPM hard drive. If you are gonna do a comparison make it fair and unbiased.

OS you MUST always compare under same circumstances, so same or nearly same hardware power, otherwise is nothing.

Also, Chrome OS is not the right choice to compare, Joli OS can be a full size offline desktop OS too if you want (using self right now), based on Ubuntu and improved hell of a lot, extreme much, although, it is great for online works either.

No, there is no limitation in Joli OS that you only can run full screen applications, only in full screen mode. Again, BS.

Gah I have to make a third comment to correct this guy, its no 1064x700 is 1024x700 or 768 on newer ones. Chrome book faster? Why, because the netbook uses intel atom? a older one? hmm? Then you call intel atom slow and pretty much useless?! it runs cs4 and renders in 1 hour. Fast at shutting down and booting up?! ITS A SSD! Joli similar?! Chrome ripped off joli -_-

I hate when people who don't know anything about computer hardware itself try to talk about boot times and such, the chrome os booted faster because of the ssd. If they both had ssd's there would actually be a decent difference in between the both of them instead of chrome os wrecking joli os.

You can run things in a window vs. full screen mode. Right click on the header and chose unimaximize and it becomes a window.

I tried Joli os a few months back on my netbook. I liked how I could run my desktop from within a browser on any computer or have the full desktop synced so I'd have identically installed apps and settings across multiple computers. Ultimately however these features wasn't what I needed and I settled on opensuse. I don't think boot time is that important as people have reliable sleep options now.

I really like Joli OS, but as it stands I'm probably better off using XP as it boots quicker and has more functionality. Joli OS would be great if it booted much quicker, but unfortunately it doesn't. I installed Joli OS alongside XP on my eMachines 250- Joli OS took 1m 5s to boot, whereas XP took 35-40 seconds. For a lightweight, cloud based netbook OS, over 1 minute boot time is pretty crap... maybe if it was installed on its own it might be quicker...

no offense to the taker of the video. He is showing off really old slow hardware (spinning hard drive) running 1.2 version of "under dog" software, up against brand new hardware (and SSD) running software developed by a greedy multi-Billion dollar company. Mmm fair??

I Love Joli OS!! I have sent a few requests for better ability to install Native apps from outside the Joli OS App store. But considering that they are on version 1.2!! they are doing dang good if you ask me :-D YAY OPEN SOURCE

@HerLion11388 oh and Chrome OS is locked down, only lets you run things inside the browser and you can not have files stored locally ( not without annoying amount of work)

with Joli OS you can install web apps and native apps right next to each other and you barely notice a difference!!! and you can install from outside the Joli OS app store. Just they won't show up on the Home screen. But they are still working on that.

Chrome OS booted faster because its a webbrowser only. Joli os is a ubuntu distro so it needs to boot like a normal os.

I have a really old laptop that's super slow and I have tried many OS's and non have worked.. there is always problems with drivers and performance. out of 30 distros that I tried the only other OS that has worked is Linux Puppy, but Puppy is puppy.. it's the best ever as far as recognizing hardware on old laptops and computers. The fact that JoliOS came second after Puppy is a major compliment in my opinion.

joli os 1.2 always has many issues that are sometimes difficult to fix, but it really takes an old laptop and gets it pretty jacked
