Though Kahrs are referred to as Double Action Only, they are actually striker-fire action, like Glocks. While the Kahr's trigger pull feels like a Double Action Only revolver (maybe even smoother!), the action works much differently.
Kahrs have no hammer, and when the trigger is pulled, a striker is pulled back a bit more from its already cocked state and then released, not "hammer cocks and drops with the pull of the trigger" as the rep says. The trigger doesn't cock the gun, the cycling does.
most women hate recoil, and guess what? light weight and small means more recoil, put some high gain count +P ammo in there and you might as well be shooting a 45 180 grains instead, 38 spcl is the way to go for most women that I know, low maintenance ease of use and great personal defense round.
I picked up the PM9093 this weekend, and I'm genuinely pleased with it. I _wanted_ to get the P380, but the shop owner said that they have been on back order for months. The last time they had one in was around eight months ago. I wasn't going to wait. The PM9 is the smallest 9mm, which was one of the selling points for me. It was one of the major reasons why I was going to get the P380 for its compact size.
The P380 and PM9 share the quality of great recoil management. From what I have seen, the PM9 has the least recoil out of the pocket 9mm's. I just have to spend the time to break it in. I think I'm going to start hand loading my own and Moly coat the projectiles just so I can baby the barrel! lol
I carry a Kahr PM9 daily. I would not recommend it for female carry for two reasons:
1) it has a VERY heavy spring and is difficult to rack. Most females would not be able to reliably rack this gun.
2) the gun cannot be rack charged. This means that the slide needs to be clipped open, mag inserted, and then the slide released to charge the weapon. The hand and arm strength needed to clip the slide open is extreme.
I think its a fine gun for women but not completely ideal. You can rack the PM9, you just need to know how. Or I understand that Promag magazines eliminate this "racking issue". They stabalize the top round in a full mag better than the factory mags. Or just carry one in the chamber as the gun is designed. Women should have one in the chamber while carrying, just like guys.
@MagneticDog Nah, not an Airweight. Too lightweight. Painful recoil with good +P rounds. Really hard to shoot accurately unless you practice a lot. A heavier DA trigger pull than the Kahr pistols.
I'd rather steer a petite new CCW shooter toward a Bersa .380 or Walther PK380... or a Kahr 9mm. With a little familiarization she will probably be able to use it better than a small lightweight revolver with a snub barrel.
I sometimes carry a S&W J-frame; but I also practice and shoot a lot.
slim is sexy.... pm9 is a good choice just about double the price of most .380autos. at or around $625 seems little high for me but they are great guns. personally i like to have a couple extra Benjamin's in my pocket for ammo, a holster, extra mags and practice. but if you bought this gun you wouldnt be disapponted
Of all the videos that had "what to carry ccw" question, this presenter was the best one. She seemed knowledgeable and focused on the needs of the person carrying/asking the question. Good presentation, unlike the Taurus one.
I agree, he covered the full spectrum of what to carry, how, and why... not just how his product applies to her needs. The gun world needs more people like him, ready to give unbiased information and actually help people. I know it was hard for me getting started.
Of course they're gonna recommend the PM9, it's their most expensive carry 9mm

@SeedyNotions Nope, the MK9 Elite is the most expensive model.

I've got a PM9, love it. The single stack magazine makes it incredibly slim, recoil is still very manageable though, albeit more than my K9.

Is there a pocket holster for this gun?

Overall, this is not a good gun for women.

I would agree with this statement. My wife can run my E9 (now replaced with the K9) but I could see where should would have issues with the PM9.

Ideal carry for women, IMO, is a light revolver in 38 special +p. DAO with a shrouded hammer. Like a S&W airweight J frame or something.

I sure would love that PM9 if it came is a SA similar to a glock/xd. I just dont like true DA, as great as it is.

What about the SIG guy?
I thought he gave the best answer, although he didn't push a particular model of pistol, SIG offers at least one pistol of just about every type
