I guarantee you can't name another band like parkway. Also, sure black sabbath was one of the first but it doesn't mean they're better. Metal has evolved so much. @scarsofbravery OM&M isn't as heavy as PWD but I really love them and their diversity. Their second album is incredible. Shay's cleans evolved, His bass riffs are just insane, The riffs are more melodic, Austin's screams sound better, Everything just flowed. If you haven't heard it, I'd recommend Purified. First 20 seconds and you'll see what I'm talking about. Ben Threw as well, The brutality and melody is jaw breaking.

The issue here is, when you listen to a certain kind of music for so long, you start to notice the smallest difference within bands, making them seem unique to you. @cazmaestro To be honest I never liked metalcore and other heavier subgenres until my cousins showed me parkway drive. I mean sure it's been done before but has it been done like this before? People have a hard time putting Parkway into a specific genre in metal. I called the guy ignorant because he says that they aren't unique at all, that's obviously not true, technically every band is unique except cover bands but even then they still have individual uniqueness.

@CoDisafishy I can safely put Parkway into the metalcore genre. They're miles ahead of the competition though imo. Metalcore is a really good 'gateway' to other styles of heavy music. There's SO much more good stuff out there, progressive stuff like Dream Theater, Animals As Leaders, BTBAM. The whole 'djent' thing, Tesseract, Periphery, Chimp Spanner, and death metal, Cannibal Corpse, Black Dahlia Murder, Death. There's so much more than metalcore out there, you just gotta look.

When it really comes down to it, they're both good bands that are completely different and it's too hard to compare them. They're both revolutionary, Ozzy basically started metal haha and Parkway is completely unique.
