also good job forcing the player to watch a seven minute unskippable cutscene before they even begin the game. every time they start a new game. even if they beat it before. there's probably people who can recite this intro by memory alone because of that.
@astpierre9 - it's not true people didn't buy them - at the time RPG was the number genre in any poll taken buy the likes of Computer Gaming World magazine, etc. They could be again, if companies made them any more. Now we get action games like Mass Effect and Jade Empire as RPG's....!
Man, watching this brings back so many good memories. I loved this game. My sister and I played it for hours and hours. Thanks so much for posting this on YouTube!
Do you know any sites or anyone at all who has an english translation of "WIZARDRY GAIDEN 4: THROB OF THE DEMON'S HEART (snes)"???? please send me message if anyone knows where to get english translation for this game.
This intro is amazing. To bad they redid it for the gold editio because this one is way better. This was also back in the day when companies weren't afraid to make rpg's insanely hard since no one bought them anyway. Also up until wiz7 wizardry also had great music.
I still have the box with its cheesy cover art. A tablet with alien text in front of some weird purple background with all this junk surrounding it.
Until I found DosBox I only recently played it.
Haven't really got anywhere since I didn't really have attention for it but it has quite a reputation and I might cave in soon enough to spend a little more time with it.
@Boilerplate - I've played Wizards & Warriors, flawed but good, the character creation is a bit iffy in my opinion though.
i'm just glad i still have the manual, otherwise the whole "turn to page XX and enter the Xth word in X paragraph, line X" thing would be real tough to get around.
Vi Domina is so cute. You find out why she is missing that eye at the end of Wiz 8 if you bring her (ie: FORCE HER) to the last battle.
These games had one heck of a big, over-arching plot for their time. Amulets and armor, the other game you mentioned, was made by the same guy (D.W. Bradley)
It's such a completely different game! I don't see any similarities in the way it was made, the way the storyline is, anything really.
that's craazy.
I like Vi because of her ridiculous shirt. I'm pretty sure it's impossible to make a shirt like that. Unless it's glued to her boob. Or it's made out of a hard material.
is her left boob covered in reflective material or does it just match the walls?
Something tells me that I remember reading that during the backlash against Bradley's brilliant but flawed masterpiece, wizards & Warriors, but I may be wrong.
Some google searching tells me I might be, but I swore I heard that. ever play wizards & Warriors? I wrote the first FAQ for that on gamefaqs. Heh...
Best game of all time.
Lmao, I started playing it since I was like, 8. Finally beat it at 17. Many, many different parties until I finally beat this masterpiece.
Oh, and I didn't even vanquish all of the Gorrors. I got them all except that damn Beast with 1000 Eyes.

I don't think google existed when I played it.....

But now exists! Use an emulator of DOS and use the tips of one of the MANY webs with solutions for this game!
That is what I am doing just right now... 8))))
