As an administrator in a technologically advanced high school, I still find that even given all the tools, toys, and training, our teachers fall into two categories - those who completely embrace the 21st opportunities to teach via tekki tools and have fun with it and those who still fear the "terminology" , the training, the "change" of what the future learners need now. My challenge is to help those teachers embrace rather than fear the 21st century technology teaching opportunities.
@eescienceteacher I don't think that all of those who are reluctant to embrace technology fear it as much as they are afraid that our children are losing basic skills. Our great-grandparents designed this entire country with nothing but pencil, paper, and their minds and they built it with blood, sweat, and tears. Technology should be a tool to enhance education, not become the curriculum. If we continue with our complete and total reliance on technology, we are doomed as a society.

Wouldn't it be the perfect world to engage every student in learning? I know what uncertainty feels like as I train to be an online teacher, but I am embracing the possibilities that technology is offering. I just sent a group text to my students: Tomorrow our warm up is for you to come in with ideas about technology and learning.
Online learning offers great possibilities for extending the reach of education. Your "embracing" technology should help you take the extra steps required for fostering a sense of community with online learners--sometimes a challenge. Thanks for your comment and good luck in your career.
A friend introduced this video to me as I'm currently in charge in my school's digital learning and teaching project.
