  • :17-:21 Feels like watching a gattai/combine sequence from Power Rangers/Super Sentai hahaha!

  • I don't know wtf he said but I know I want one!

  • & every single one of these toys is woth big bucks now & these are before Transformers But are the same molds

  • DIA-CLOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!!

  • Flying Ultra Magnus?

    FUS DO RAH

  • So Ultra Magnus was just Prime in a Mobile Suit and having a different paint job?

  • If ultra Magnus was just the new Optimus then why did the American writers come up with idea that Optimus dies and megatron gets reincarnated. Why couldnt they both change to the new prim and megatron. Why did they kill prime.

  • @J5MARLON Because "G.I. Joe: The Movie" was being written at the same time and when Hasbro execs read that Duke is killed by Serpentor and replaced by Falcon, they decided to use that with Optimus and Hot Rod. The back lash of Optimus being killed resulted in Duke's survival.

  • This is pretty much a Diaclone of Ultra Magnus

  • Holy crap Japan had the BEST toy ads

  • Only 3800 Yen?! Golly, boy oh boy! Can I get it for christmas mum, pretty please?

  • An army of evil Optimus Primes. My childhood, ruined :'(

  • @TheXand19

That's Ultra Magnus, or at least the mold Hasbro stole to make him.

  • 日本人以外にはダイアクロンとトランスフォーマーの関係が分からないかも。

  • Surprising how Hasbro usually rushes to repaint OP into Ultra Magnus and Scourge but leaves out the classic blue "powered Convoy" look.

  • This was Ultra Magnus, not Prime.

  • megatron is fucked there is an army of primes oh megatron is gonna die !

  • I know I left a comment a month ago, but.

Anyone who owns magnus in this color scheme/ an original, put it under a blacklight. Also the head of magnus, can clip onto the top of the jet that becomes his chest.

    Your Welcome.

  • see how good transformers were before Hasbro got their grubby little hands on everything?! I mean, ultramagnus repels my eyes like Justin Bieber repels the ears of the person reading this.

  • lol they are defining the mecha design standards years before it came out as anime

  • So... what Takara Toys just bought a bunch of Optimus Prime toys from Hasbro in the U.S. spray painted them blue and repackaged them? Genius!

  • @SovietCanukistan Uh other way around. Hasbro brought the rights to release them in US from Takara and renamed them Transformers to go with the series. That' why Ultra Magnus looks exactly like Optimus. They're from the same Diaclone mold just recolored blue.

  • @Citrakite I didn't know that... it's kind of odd when you think about it because Transformers the cartoon became very popular in Japan and so they started making their own toys and animes etc. based on the franchise later

  • @SovietCanukistan All came full circle.

  • @SovietCanukistan hasbro bought the rights, not takara. Not everything is made in the U.S. (thank god).

  • Yeah, try finding him for 3,800 yen now! <=D

  • diaCLONE

  • THEY TRANSFORM INTO GIANT ROBOTS TO....float gracefully through the air at less than five miles an hour......

  • Actually no, Ultra Magnus came from that Diaclone toy.

  • Bootleg Ultra Magnus!

  • crappy soundeffects, but great animation and great figure I wish I had one!

  • the best part was 0.07 sec when it skidded to a stop in the rain that shit looked hella real hhahahhahaha

  • your username is sooo wrong

  • Can anybody here tranlate the commercial?

  • TAKARA'NO POWER'D ROBOTO'

  • @TheMasterNo6 Actually it's "Takara no CAR roboto" which translates as "Takara's Car Robots", or "Car Robots by Takara", etc.

  • DIA-CROOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!!!!!!:)

  • @martinopangefino Lololol, actually in the Japanese language it could be either DiacLone or DiacRone..

  • LOLOL, but I actually read some where it really could be pronounced as Diac"L"one or Diac"R"on(e)

  • @trence5 that is superfunny indeed DIA-CROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wish Animated's toy commercials had been like this. That might have boosted toy sales enough to keep it going.

  • takara no ka robotto: PAWADO KUNVOI. epicness. this beats transformers.

  • @GodzillaXAbudAwwal Not commercially. The Transformers rebranding was a much greater commercial success.

  • You have to hand it to the Japanese, they know how to make very entertaining toy adverts!

  • Luckily, I've bought the 6" Titanium of this UM. Transformable without separation.

  • Hey I just noticed something, when Armada Optimus Prime got his power upgrade, his color-scheme resembles Powered-Convoy's color-scheme

  • woah! that's was like the.. "most epic transformation evah"!

  • WANT~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3,800 yen is approximately $45 now. That would've been a lot of money for a toy back in 1982-84.

  • @michaelcabrera hell no, check the prices of these on ebay

  • @GodzillaXAbudAwwal No kidding.

  • @ZeldaTheSwordsman oh, judging by ur name, ur a zelda fan? hello, fellow fan. wut an unusaul place to meet :P

  • DIIAACLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONEE!!!

  • Dang i hop in next delorean outa here to back to 1984 or 1983 just to get one of em!

  • wow, thats some stop motion man, props to takara, hasbro could learn a thing or two

  • WHAT THE F THAT'S AWESOME!

  • i think i would shit myself if i saw an army of FLYING ULTRA MAGNUSES coming down the street!

  • @NiteStalker3185 Who needs Rodimus , When you have an Amry of Magnuses.

  • @conradojavier Well, the Masterpiece Roddy toy is looking good.

    Plus, Winnebagos rule.

  • I made the blue magnus on WFC

  • UM's true descendent.

  • lol magnus army XD

  • That's the REAL Origin of Transformers. Hasbro has brain-washed everyone into thinking their American asses created this franchise making the impossible to hide or distortion the truth about Takara and Diaclone.

  • @Cargo1273 0_0

  • haha thats freakin awesome!!

  • spectacular!

  • @Boomnation

It's the other way around. Optimus Prime is the repainted Diaclone core while the entire Diaclone unit is the predecessor of Ultra Magnus.

  • So the original figure for ultra magnus came before optimus prime?

  • So..... Powered Convoy is basically just a repaint of Ultra Magnus?

  • @Boomation the other way around

  • AW COOL!!! The Japanese are always ahead of time.

  • Holy cow look at all those Magnuses.

  • whats the diff between Diaclone and Transformers?

  • Diaclone is the toyline which Hasbro bought up and re-marketed as Transformers.

  • see also Microchange :D

  • @bowlofarthritus The faction symbols.

  • I had the convoy thing. I always thought it was Ultra Magnus!

  • omfg lmfao i fell out of my computer chair rofl

  • Japs are in 28 century... great imagination and great work!

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. omg, i so fell out of my chair rofling to that

  • when did diaclone come out first?

  • 1980, with the Car Robots line being introduced in 1982.

  • Dia-clooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooone

    Awesome.

  • I think that Diaclone is a Pre-Transformers serie.

  • The Jap know how to make ads :D

  • g1 sentenel prime!

  • its a japanese version of transformers, and yet transformers is a japanese cartoon.

  • no it wasnt it was american

  • so explain how sky fire was put into the show, he was a valkeryie fighter from robotech which is also japanese, watch the credit all the key animators are japanese,

  • but all the speakers are american and it is set in america

  • No, the reason why they changed the look of skyfire is because they couldn't use the Macross design in the animated series.

The original Transformers animated series was created by Hasbro, Sunbow, and Marvel Productions. The key writers, producers, director, etc. are guys like Flint Dille and Nelson Shin- not Japanese.

The fact that the animation itself is done in Japan doesn't matter. A lot of US animation like the Simpsons are done in Korea. Does it make that a Korean cartoon?

  • Right on. A lot of talent from 'Spider-man and His Amazing Friends' got reassigned to TF and GI Joe after Spidey friends got cancelled.

  • Jetfire was in fact a Valkrye. I believe Harmony Gold had exclusive rights to animate the Valkrye in the US, so TF had to redesign the character as Skyfire. When Harmony Gold aired Robotech, everyone knew the design thanks to Transformers.

  • It was actually a dispute over the toy likenesses, not the producers of the cartoons themselves.

  • Transformers is a japanese & US joint adventure from the get go!

  • Actually it's not, the toy line is japanese the cartoon was made to sell the toys when they were brought stateside.

  • the blue versionof prime looks cool man..:D

  • This is fucking awesome.

  • blue g1 prime?

  • blue g1 ultra magnus to be exact!

  • i need money so i can get some diaclones.

  • The first Diaclone I ever got is Battle Convoy and I'm keeping an eye out for my second one so I can convert it into a Pepsi Battle Convoy (when I get the Pepsi stickers that is).

  • wheeljack, silverstreak, mirage and hotrod! at 0:09

  • It's Wheeljack, Crosscut, Mirage, and Road Rage.

  • That's not Hotrod, it could be a toy that was never used in Transformers series. Hotrod or Rodimus is an original character exclusive for Transformers series along with Blurr, Kupp, Springer, etc. and they aren't based from Diaclone toys.

  • @shadowshinobi06 It's a red Tracks.

  • U... Ultra Magnus?!?!

  • Favourite aspect of the commercial: It shows off some of the cool features on the Ultra Magnus toy that we were previously unaware of (except that the U.S. issue usually has the spring-loaded missile-firing feature disabled due to so-called "Product Safety Regulations")

  • It can cause there the exact same molds!

  • It could. The same Toy was re released slightly repainted in the transformers toyline as ultra magnus. Since powered conwoy is a repaint of battle convoy (optimus prime) and most diaclone parts were supposed to be combinable, its quite likely you just could switch the red and the blue (white) trucks.

  • (Continue...)

Therefore the Japanese Government called upon every Automobile manufacturers to join this project and sell those Car Robots to civilians (and train them to be Diaclone warriors) because at that time. the opposition was too powerless to stop the project (as they percieved as Illegal)

The project PR portrayed the whole projects for what Diaclone Car Robots are capable for... including to be able to fly in Robots mode

However. the project was very costly and .... more to come =^.^=

  • DIE - A - CLONG!!!!

  • I can't believe the prices people are asking for this guy/E-Hobby reissue on Ebay... *shakes head*

I'd like to get my hands on him one day but I don't think he's worth "that much"... *sigh*

  • lol

  • So...many...Magnus!

He can't deal with himself now!

  • @ZPlasmodium more like... obvious reproductions of the real magnus ( I know it's the other way around), it's like a magnus clone army

  • Ultra Magnus

  • dude i just came in my pants

  • AWESOME!

  • A demonstration about the teatchers of our kids.

A demonstrationt about cinema for kids.

A demonstration about what parents are doing with their kids.

  • kinda looks like nightwatch g1 prime

  • Amazing! Great spot!

    Great video!

    Thank!

  • I think this is evidence that Ultra Magnus isn't simply a "repaint" of Optimus Prime; but the other way around.

  • ok um whos powerd convoy and japan's tf commercials r better then u.s.!

  • Powered convoy is the tiy recolored to make Geberation 1 Ultra Magnus and this is not part of TF since this was made before the brand was created. But the original TF toys are justmodified from Diaclone. One major diffrence is that Transformers was marketed as sentient characters instead of piloted mechs. Of course, nowadays Transformers were designed for the Transformers franhise and not taken from other brands.

  • DIA-CLOMMMMMM

    C:

  • it is ultra mag. i heard them say atubutu convoy ya...

  • Holy crap thats an awesome ad!

  • DIACLONE

  • how do they make these toys move?

  • stop motion animation.duh.

  • No. I know when they transform its stop motion, but when the trucks are moving on the road it doesnt look like stop motion(since they cant make explosions and rain in stop motion).

  • they probably have the trucks on a string or something.

  • problably strings or something

  • Oh and not to mention the smoke cant be stop motion.

  • yea true... excellent observations!!!

i thought it was stop motion too...

but i didnt notice the smoke, the rain and the explosions until u mentioned it...

  • I think the transforming scene was stop motion along with the scene where the cars unload but I guess the parts with smoke and explosions weren't.

  • uhhhhhhh how can a convoy of trucks not melt from the flames from the low flying bots?

  • Interesting that the Diaclone robots were depicted as able to fly, but most transformers can not fly.

  • wow realy good stopmotion

  • especially since its from the late 70s :-O

  • but im sure when they're moving on the ground its not stop motion.

  • Wow, it looks like their "Ultra Magnus" was much better. At least his trailer/body appeared to be.

  • The reason why ultra magnus is repainted because before the actual 1986 trans movie was released, it was decided tat ultra magnus will be in diaclone colours

  • I love the Diaclone commercials, especially the way the big booming voice says "Diaclone!"...I need to find a way to rip that audio and have it as a ringtone or something.

  • pull up your windows recorder...decrease speed in options till you get all the desired time yuo need...open your sound options "the lil speaker on your tool bar at the bottom right" go to options properties recording make sure evrythin is checked..go back to windows recorder hit record and then start video the sound from it will record it while its playing

  • then save it as a wav ..then just get one of those mp3 converters you see all over the net...and viola you have any ring tone you ever wanted on earth!

  • Or you could just download the video then rip the sound using an audio editing program.

  • sorry, not your right tracks is blue, my mistake..

  • that is some slick stop mo!

  • That was not Hot Rod. I believe it is the red Diaclone version of Tracks. I dont know of a Diaclone version of HotRod.

  • there never was a diaclone hotrod, ever. the hotrod figure was designed from the TFTM designs of hotrod, also, tracks is read any way.

  • The Red Tracks was named "Roadrage".

  • Has anyone noticed that the Hot Rod toy was among the cars that were on the car carrier trailer?

  • Got to admit, this commercial is pretty bad ass with the rain and all.

  • I wish they had kpet the Diaclone colors for Transformers.

  • Check out the red tracks! Did the Diaclone Magnus have the different wheels on the trailer?

  • They even built the environment with roads, trees, rain, lightning and more. Respect.

  • Sucks that the Japanese killed Ultra Magnus in Headmasters.

  • Awesome! These Diaclone commercials rule!

  • these adds are sooooooooooooooooooooooo retro!

  • the diaclone commercials are a lot better than the transformers ones

  • powered convoy's color scheme looks better than ultra magnus'

  • no, they were the toys that became transformers.

  • lol diaclone? is it a knock off of transformers

  • Actually, the transformers are knockoffs of diaclone. learn your history kid.

  • Dude, these toys originated from Takara of Japan. Hasbro needed a new toyline during the 1980s.

  • It's actually a law that showing toys transforming and moving on their own would make kids think they actually did that, then their parents would sue. It would be considered false advertising and to this day is why you never see toy commercials showing such action.

  • At least one Diaclone or Microman ads show kids setting up the toys for a stop motion film in front of a camera. That probably wouldn't pass in the US, either.

  • the japanese commercials r so much better

  • Man, I just discovered these commercials. How did you get your hands on these?! These are so very cool...thanks!!!

  • Powered Convoy was renamed "Ultra Magnus" in the Transformers line.

A Transformer collector with an original Diaclone must be a lucky collector.

  • ...or how about, what is it, eight of them (four driving and four flying), like in the commercial? ;)

  • Well, in the Diaclone world they are like "Mass produced Mobile Suits"

In the Transformers world they are individual

  • yes, in Diaclone, they are robotic mobile suits like Gundam piloted by the Micromen. In Transformers, they are mechanic lifeforms.

  • Man... could you imagine a world without Transformers, and one with Diaclone?

  • Before Hasbro licensed the toys, Takara sold Diaclone in the USA as Diakron. When they were offered as generic robots, like Diaclone was, they weren't successful.

  • A cool episode of Transformers would have been about the humans trying to make transforming robotic mobile suits modeled after the Autobots.

  • Actually, an episode of Transformers focused just that. It's a season 3 episode that featured a retired Cobra Commander who was hired by crime lord Victor Drath to use his clone technology to bodyswap Rodimus Prime and Co. robot bodies into human clones so they can disposed them. Cobra Cmdr. remodified their robotic shells into mobile mecha for Drath's goons to pilot on and commit major crimes including attacking Metroplex.

  • So as far as this classic episode is concerned, Cobra Commander succeeded in reviving or inventing Diaclone.

PS: The G1 season 3 episode is called 'Only Human'.
