There is a FREE audio Bible online! Google Bible Gateway adds audio NASB bible! There are other versions as well, but I enjoy the new American standard version! They have it in the King James version too! :) It is great to listen to while my hands are doing something else, like cooking, cleaning, drawing, or whatever! God wants us to meditate on His word!
Although it seems discrepant usually it is a detail of the previous naration: first it said God created man and female, and then details. First says that Noah got two of every kind, and then details saying that of the clean kind Noah took more than two but seven pairs. It is not a discrepance as much as a more detailed version of the same story.

The Torah is a collection of books, and like wise the prophets are a collection of the recordings of various prophets over time, they were never written at the same time because hte events they speak of didn't all happen at the same time. The NT is a collection of letters written by the disciples to the various churches leading up to the End Time, i.e. the Judgment of Judah in 70 AD.

@mand1sh3p when Genesis speaks of "us", it refers to God as a holy trinity, The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Together they operate as one. One body with three distinct entities which could be the reason for a plural reference to God.

A proper understanding of why there is so much hate and evil in this world should be a reminder that the world is sin-cursed and that we are all sinners in need of a Savior, which God provided by His grace and love for us.

There is a FREE audio Bible online! Google Bible Gateway adds audio NASB bible! There are other versions as well, but I enjoy the new American standard version! They have it in the King James version too! :) It is great to listen to while my hands are doing something else, like cooking, cleaning, drawing, or whatever! God wants us to meditate on His word!

Although it seems discrepant usually it is a detail of the previous naration: first it said God created man and female, and then details. First says that Noah got two of every kind, and then details saying that of the clean kind Noah took more than two but seven pairs. It is not a discrepance as much as a more detailed version of the same story.

In the original hebrew, there are no vowels. leaving us with YHWH. Later, while it was being translated by Germans, they changed the Y to a J because their J makes the Y sound, and the W to a V because their W makes the V sound. Genesis 7:1-3 creates the problem because it's now drawing the line between clean and unclean and notice Genesis 7:3 says take 7 of every bird. Genesis 6:20 says different. I like you implied your own interpretation with the 5 left over.

Genesis 7 then goes on to tell Noah to take 7 of the clean, obviously for food since 2 were to keep the kinds alive - they were only allowed to eat clean animals. A contradiction occurs when two different statements can't both be true, not the case here. If you don't like that explanation, then maybe God changed his mind.

Genesis 7 is not a continuation of the story either because in Genesis 6:18, God already spoke to him about the Ark but notice Genesis 7:3, the seven kinds of birds are to be kept alive too, how can something be eaten and be alive? I like your explanation btw, just don't buy it.

Thanks for your interest but this is annoying and I'm not interested in continuing; it is clear what is being stated. No different than me saying "Bring two bags of ice for the cooler, but 7 total (cause I have other purposes for them)." Even if it was added in later, all that matters is whether it occurred that way.

Genesis 6:19-20 mentions them separately, Genesis 7:1-3 goes in the more detail separating with the clean/unclean senario. God doesn't mention clean or unclean birds to Noah so using Genesis 8:20 is irrevelant because of that lack of distinction.

The Torah is a collection of books, and like wise the prophets are a collection of the recordings of various prophets over time, they were never written at the same time because hte events they speak of didn't all happen at the same time. The NT is a collection of letters written by the disciples to the various churches leading up to the End Time, i.e. the Judgment of Judah in 70 AD.
It is not claimed that there was some book handed down from heaven.

A lot of atheists see religion as the cause of violence, intolerance, and an excuse for misogyny. Atheists want to see all people--men and women, gay and straight--being treated equally. What is wrong with wanting peace and tolerance? As an ex-atheist, I can see how anyone can be turned off by christianity and other religions. It doesn't mean they belittle others. They just want the truth as much as anyone else.

Yea its a flimsy documented history, meant to help keep people in line. It evolves as we evolve, in another 3000 years if we don't shed religion by that point, there is probably going to be a new new testament, documenting the fall of western style democracy into whatever else it becomes. I said the same thing a while back about another "Bible" or scripture. I never understood how God never stopped working, but the Bible ended. *shrug* Everybody got their issues. Problem is how many people get hurt and hide behind their religion to make excuses. If people took responsibility for themselves instead of blaming the Devil or God (I believe in both) life would flourish a lot more.

@mand1sh3p when Genesis speaks of "us", it refers to God as a holy trinity, The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Together they operate as one. One body with three distinct entities which could be the reason for a plural reference to God.
