IE9 is undoubtedly a huge leap from its predecessors, at least in terms of speed. But, I honestly believe, this came out merely as a 'critical attempt for survival' against other competing browsers (i.e. the incredibly faster Chrome). Because, previous IEs were so horribly slow, they almost died out. However, to me, IE9 still does not catch up to Google Chrome. Though speedy, IE9 feels a little heavy and resource-needy, whereas Chrome is fast, light and instant (on my average pc).
@ReverendNillerz IE is just as fast as any other browser, just as standard compliant, just as easy to use, just as nice looking. Yes, the only reason people don't use it is because they think IE means IE 6,7, or 8 which are all obsolete.
The tabs can be moved onto a speparate line, the address bar is the same size as it has always been.
@ReverendNillerz I use Internet Explorer 9 right now. The reason been because of one feature Google Chrome has. You can see your saved/stored passwords in the settings!
Internet Explorer 10 should hopefully be up there with Google Chrome.
It seriously looks like its been built half arsed , the back button disappears behind the browser and the address bar is so tiny even a guy with 20/20 vision would need to magnify it , not to mention 3 tabs or more and you cant even read what those tabs are .. coupled with no support for your win 7 64 bit browsers in viewing adobe based websites .. IE9 Is pretty much an EPIC FAIL ! Literally , it fails .. all the time . Even Norton wont trust it lol
@ripcurlcns It is NOT and should NOT be Microsoft's job to make flash 64 bit.
The back button is always in the the top right corner. It is behind nothing.
The address bar is the same size as always. If you need a magnifying glass then you need glasses badly. The text is the same size as everything else in Windows. It can be enlarged obviously.
The tabs are just as wide as any other browser and can be put on a separate line.
I can't leave chrome. Why? because all of my bookmarks are saved in it. It syncs them accross all chrome browsers. Until I can get all my bookmarks transferred to IE9 in a easy manner, I don't know if it will be worthwhile to switch. BTW, I depend on those bookmarks for everyday tasks
sorry no, tabs next to URL field is a fail. I have 20 tabs opened at a time IE9 will only make it worse so really there's no reason for me to switch to make my usability worse. Unfortunate really as the browser is an improvement

When will the new IE be available for Linux?
ReverendNillerz 3 months ago
It's not fair to benchmark the latest version of IE (9) to an older version of Google Chrome (6).
talldude123 3 months ago
@talldude123 But when people compare other browsers with IE, they usually go back to IE7.
Andrew19ao 3 months ago
@Andrew19ao no they don't, nobody actually uses IE.

@Andrew19ao would I get a pop-up every time it wants to remember a password?
ReverendNillerz 3 months ago
@ReverendNillerz A popup? No..just a message at the bottom that you can easily disable.

@Andrew19ao Oh, that's a new feature, then? What else does IE do that nobody else does?

We need extensions which Chrome & Firefox have. Makes it perfect to switch over permanently!

@TheBomb0Cat Currently it's not possible to change tab location, but you can resize the URL window to make more room for your tabs. Hope this helps!

@internetexplorer Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and Safari all have this functionality. It's p. ubiquitous.

uh webvizbench (Microsoft funded site to promote IE9) says Chrome is 1 pixel smaller lol

My point is this. Customers need service.
My perception is that it lacks a concept .... "IE 9 Aero".
Visionary - probably a better term will come to me. Maybe futurist?
