The Earth and Sun is 93 million miles, and we get just the right amount of heat and light to keep us alive. Can you imagine how far a planet would have to be from Roter Überriese (Red Supergiant) for it to be in the Goldilocks zone? Incredibly far!

The Universe is filled with such wondrous things! Trillions of stars in billions of galaxies; we can't possibly be the only complex life in the universe. Gliese 581g is in the goldilocks zone of its' sun, and that's 20 light years away.

That tells me that if a planet so close to us can be habitable (-12C temperature, but an atmosphere and composition very much like earth), then there's a chance that there's billions of planets out there that are habitable!
