  • Can I install this motherboard in normal ATX case.

  • To Linus: As for the memory slots, ther eis a VERY GOOD reason to use the grey first...not jsut because of the bulky coolers.

DDR2 and DDR3 RAM busses must be *terminated* at the very ends of the traces on the mainboard. So DDR2 and DDR3 modules feature ODT, On-Die Termination inside the RAM ICs.

Without that the high frequency signals would reflect off the open ends of the traces on the mainboard and reduce stability.

:/ The reason with your cooler was pretty randomly correct

  • how much does this cost????

  • @zhiheng2005 Lol

  • haha. I was just looking at this board on memory express's website. What is the point to dual bios?

  • @1GamingCentral Very easy. Makes it pretty impossible to kill the board with a bad BIOS flashing due to instability or power failure. You can always go to the backup BIOS and copy it to the primary or flash from there.

  • LGA 2011 family motherboards appears servers motherboards

  • does this ud5 better than the ud7? i see 8 RAM slots on this but only 4 RAM on UD7.. why is that?

  • plug the thing into the thing

  • Linus, when you are doing all this, and running stores.. Do you even have time to sit down and actually do some gaming?.. I mean.. It sounds like you are pretty busy =)

  • i thought PCIe 3.0 wasnt supported until the Ivy Bridge CPUs/chipsets come out

  • Another GREAT product review! I see a lot of new features I wish their other boards had (3d bios, black pcb, wireless, etc)

Linus - can you do a video outlining great HTPC boards, low profile video cards, bluray performance, tv tuners, etc??? Your expertise in these areas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Keep up the awesome work =)

  • i actually like gigabyte's color coded IO shield..

  • can i use a lga1155 cpu in this?

  • @policjant73 No. LGA 1155 supports P67 H67 and Z68.. Hope I'm not forgetting anything :P

This supports the new Sandy Bridge - E

  • 10:11 don't you mean gigabyte Ethernet heh

  • Very nice price for a Intel mobo here in Europe. 269€uros. Now the CPU cost...

    Intel Core i7-3930K 3.3Ghz Box Socket 2011 529€uros and

  • @Verithiell 350$ -.-

  • @kvazemodas ouch, thats alot.

  • Love these board reviews!

  • 10 dislikes-is AM3+ owner

  • @rusiabullit 10 dislikes are Mac users

  • Is there still a QPI link for the new LGA 2011 socket? I can't find the spec on it if there is.

  • @x900lbGorillax1 yes, its 6.4GBs i think, look at intels ark website

  • @mobydick9629 Ah ok thanks, I see it's still 6.4GT/s then.

  • @onoff314 feed it to his cats

  • @onoff314 It's obviously used for testing and/or restocked as open box item and sold that way.

  • @onoff314 He gives them to the poor in africa ;)

  • @MrAbsurde Cause all they do is nothing but overclock the shit out of PCs :P

  • @onoff314 Probably sell it through NCIX as an Open Box product. (Lower price, etc.)

  • @onoff314 Sell them at the warehouse for cheap.

  • @onoff314 he sells them as unboxed hardware for less $

  • @onoff314 Rebox, then unbox it again.

  • NEXT UNBoxing SHOULD BE EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 2Win

  • I heard somewhere that you can use your existing dual channel memory sticks on the X79 boards..is this true???

  • @ihagtafuith The new boards are DDR3 so yeah you can.

  • Do Graphics cards that use Pci 2.0 work or are compatible with pci 3.0?

  • intel yuck

  • Please Unbox One of the new i7 CPU's!!!!

  • @4628JP You get a CPU, a heatsink, and a manual, how could that possibly be interesting...

  • Hmm.... this technology is just too new. Maybe we should wait and see the feedback from those who got this already?

  • You know what I raelly want to see one day?

A Multi-Touch 750 Hz Color E-Paper Display with a Quad HD Resolution and segmented 6-Color lighting. And with a finish that combines the best of a Glossy Finish with the best of a Matt Finish.

Too bad nobody will ever see one of those.

  • @Amaroqdricaldari I'm guessing we might see those 5-10 years from now! =D

  • @Andrewjiangyi But I want one now...

And I also want LEDs in the back to keep it from hurting my eyes when placed in a dark room.

And of course, I want all of the advantages of TN and PLS.

AND I WANT PROGRESSIVE SCAN! NOT GOD DAMN INTERLACED!

  • Anyone know when they will release 2011s?

  • @JigokuTrigger Already did check Newegg or NCIX website. I know Newegg has them

  • @JigokuTrigger Already out in Australia

  • @rtnm120 Damn. Adelaide is falling behind then

  • Linus, when do you think they will be available on site ?

  • gigacrap for brainless rich girls

  • Linus, I have always wondered what was behind that blue door, I would love to see it :) Like this so he shows us :D

  • Stupid placement of memory. I think the did it to make the path to the processor and other chips shorter which should make it quicker. But I doubt it matters that much.

  • YEAH!!! PS2 is still there!

  • I LOve it is really nice....

  • @TheCrazySquirrell lol na 8x12 is 96 8x8 is 64

  • and the hunt for sweetypie000's comment begin .

  • No 3d bios in the video? Damn wanted to see it...

  • Sorry if I am missing something but can't you put 96gb of ram in? 8x8?

  • @TheCrazySquirell 8 x 8=64....

  • @VcniceLikesGames Uhmm... yeah... maths fail...

  • Gigabyte is stepping up their game!

  • Linues can you pull out that patriot RAM again and go for the 64GB challenge now?

  • i dont understand a word your saying but i still watch you lol

  • how much 3 and 4 numbers can be on one box !?

  • Esther you must be a parking ticket cos you got FINE written all...

...oh, wait... wrong NCIX channel :S

  • bad motion blur here and there on this camcorder you all used. go back to previous cameraman's record qualities.

  • Can someone explain the price difference between these two parts?

    Intell i7 2600k (3.4ghZ *Quad core*) = $320

    AMD Phenom 970 (3.5GHz *quad core*) = 139

I am new at this and want to build myself a PC maybe soon...

  • @racenuke if you want 15% more fps in gaming for MOST games and want to video editing, encode, transcode.etc faster...intel is the way to go. if you're primary limitation is budget. amd it's that simple. i've built gaming and video editing pc's ( 50 as of last month) since 2001. there is something about intel's technology in their cpu's ( and i'm not necessarily talking about the hyperthreading) that has always been more expensive yet proves superior in performance. You weigh it. cheers

  • @racenuke Well, it depends on what do u want from your PC...i would heavily recommend intel. If you are bulding a PC for a first time, core i5 2500k will do a good job for u, which costs about 240$. And if I can write u a recommendation for a GPU, I would go with something like a GTX560ti.

  • @racenuke the i7 has hyper threading so it has 4 physical cores 4 virtual cores for a total of 8 instead of 4, also generally speaking intel provides better "clock for clock" performance, so 3.4Ghz on i7 would probably be the same as 4.0Ghz on the Phenom.

  • @NarhemTehEpic this phenom can't beat 2600k in any clock...

  • @LeftCZ if you disable hyper threading and limit both cpus to 1 core, then leave the i7 on stock and OC the phenom, the phenom will win, don't bs. But then again who is going to do that?

  • @NarhemTehEpic I always had been for Intel...the new bulldozer had persuaded me to hate AMD even more. I don't understand that - how can the develop 8-core 32nm CPU which is slower than their previous 6-core 45nm CPU???? I mean OMG..!? I will stick with Intel - 1155 Sandy bridge has pretty good price x performance ratio and u can go wrong with 2500k or 2600k. I hope Ivy bridge is also going to be like it. I am looking forward, Intel.

  • @LeftCZ Well then, I never said I was an AMD fan, I have been rocking my 2500k since it came out, but you shouldn't say a product is bad just because it is from a certain company. Also bulldozer isn't exactly 8 cores, every 2 cores share components that normal cores shouldn't share, which is why its performance isn't exactly up to par. Still, most tests saying that bulldozers 8 cores aren't good aren't highly threaded so that breaks down again to clock for clock performance.

  • Quad channel.?! Whos actually stupid enough to waste money on that.?!

  • arg why cant i expand the video size

  • To be honest Intel probably only needed 2000 pins... they just wanted the year to fit with the pins...

  • @DelusionalLogic yep.11 useless pins lol(or not)

  • Quad channel isn't 4 channel of 2 dimms each. It's 2 channels with 4 dimms each.

  • aaww tiny VRM heatsink...

  • Well you wont need to put a wifi card in that legacy slot!

  • Black pcb board and black oriented acessories and then comes an blue pcb add-on card.... Gigabyte usual FAIL.

  • nice mainboard clever design very nice oc i want THIS

  • Oh wow I might actually but this board. how's the overclocking?

  • Odd I thought that Intel dropped support for PCI on LGA 2011.

  • What happened at the end of the video? It just cut out D:

  • are you gonna do the rampage 4 ?

  • I can clearly reach and see the power and reset buttons on my P8P67 EVO populated with two 6950's, and if they were in the same spot on that Gigabyte board, the bottom dual slot card would not cover it one bit, unless your card is a triple slot card.

  • So I just bought a GA-X79-UD3 and a 3930k. I have an XSPC Rasa waterblock I want to use on it but there is no mount kit for 2011 yet so I was wondering if you can tell me the thread size for the 2011 mount on the boards becouse I think I could just get some bolt from a hardware store to mount it.

  • board on 6:25

  • @12x8u thank you!! LOOL

  • 64gig ram wow anyone remeber 48k spectrum ?

  • price?

  • Linus -- WE WANT THAT EXTREMELY PIMPED, WATER COOLED SYSTEM YOU'RE WORKING ON!!! Thumbs up so Linus can see this post and START WORKING ON THAT DAMN BEAST! :X

  • @aryesegal1988 Its already out. Check out NCIX channel.

  • Why aren't the USB3 and 24pin power facing the rear of the board instead of vertical?

  • This is replacement for x58 or z68 ?

  • mo AMD motherboards please ;)

  • @MrJakewoodall yeah, because bulldozer was real good right.

less AMD imo, until they get their shit together.

  • SB-E = So Bery - Expensive...WTF!!!

  • Why don't they have this kind of "cleaner / plainer" package box now-a-day? All the insanely graphically designs that I won't ever read is considered... a waste of resource for me. I would even settle for a plain brown box with black texts...

  • 10 SATA ports.. Wonder how good the controller is on the extra ports..

My #1 gripe with Intel boards on their new chipset is extremely limited native SATA3 ports. No one likes using the third party controller if they value performance. This is where AMD > Intel.

But now another gripe on the 2011 boards: No top PCI-E 1x slot (on every board I've seen so far). Sadly, I need one of those above a 16x slot (GPU) due to airflow reasons, and I also need a legacy PCI slot. Very limited choices..

  • but will it blend?

  • @sweetypie000 Thats not funny anymore...

  • @neonforfaen2 yas it is >-<

  • @rupluttaja No. It's fucking not. Never was, never will. EVER.

  • @cmiab4 i rofld so hard when i saw you comment in my inbox haha i bet you look just like your youtube photo.

  • @rupluttaja Ain't even mad.

  • @cmiab4 ginger
