  • It's a damn shame I have to learn this shit!

  • this guys my favourite teacher

  • I already got accepted into college and still haven't learned this shit

  • her in philippines, we're learning this in 7th grade.

  • @pneuma465 No i learned it this year, in First Year

  • @nicco0426

:) here in philippines,7th grade and 1st year high school are the same!

  • @EatShrimpPro me 2

  • sadly this guy is way much better than my current teacher

  • @omfgzzitsxenia same :(

  • im learning this in 10th grade!

  • if i have a numerator of 25x-125 do i simplify it to x-5 by finding the GCF????

  • @EatShrimpPro No offense, I learned this in 7th grade.

  • im learninq this qrade 11

  • @maxywellryro18 I'm learning this in 8th grade

  • This guy is so freaaking helpful. Seriously in a minute and a half he taught me what my teacher fails to do in 3 days.

  • Want to hear something embarrassing? I'm 33, a freshman in college, and STILL have problems with this. I was in Gifted/AP classes in High School, now I'm an idiot! GO TO COLLEGE DIRECTLY AFTER HIGH SCHOOL!!! I was young and arrogant once....

  • @EatShrimpPro im in grade 11 lol

  • @EatShrimpPro No offense, but I really don't care.

  • @EatShrimpPro no offense i'm learning this in 8th grade (different people learn at differrent rates)

  • @EatShrimpPro no offense i'm learning this in 8th grade.

  • @MitchieMachete no offense i'm learning this in 1st grade. biotch.

  • I learned this in 7th grade but they didn't call it rational expressions (or if they did i forgot) and never formatted the problems like this so I didn't recognize it on a college placement test.

  • Algebra is the most stupid and pointless I've learn't in school..

  • @VonDoomm teachers want us to play with number and make our brains fuck up T.T

  • shiiiiiitt man u guys r learning this soo early. im doing this in grade 11! and im in a university course!

  • I hate 8th grade.... THIS IS TOO CHALLENGING!!! But thanks for the help anyway :P

  • how did u get (x+6) ??

  • @2ne1791 You Factor the top and bottom term first, how he get's (x+6)(x+3)? easy. x^2+9x-18 So (x+6)(x+3) factors from x^2+9x-18, expand (x+6)(x+3) and you will get x^2+9x-18. Do the same for bottom and cancel out the common factors.

  • @Snitchers8 aahhhhhh .. thnx :D

  • @2ne1791 Np, and don't forget you can only cancel out factors if you are multiplying. So you can't cancel them out if you are subtracting or adding something to it so like x^2+4 / x^2+3. You cannot cancel the x^2's cause ur adding 4 to it or 3. But after factoring and pulling out greatest common factors you can then cancel only if you are not adding or subtracting hope this makes sense hard to explain xD

  • We make me sleep when u speak.. try to be more energetic.. (that's usually the problems of most teachers in the world)

  • Well damn...don't get too excited.

  • Im only in the 8th grade! WTF IS THIS!!

  • I dont get it

  • @EatShrimpPro same

  • I'm currently in 8th grade and my teacher wants me to do this? Oh come on! My teacher is a sadistic! -_-

  • im just a freshman!.. and our teacher wants us to do this?!?!..

  • @xXdAreNzteRXx yes!! and what the hell they are!! i really hate numbers!!! and really this one,, well actually tom. we have a quiz!!! and i think i will fail

  • man i'm in 8th grade why should i be doing this??

  • I guess I dont need to go to school anymore after finding out about this channel.

  • shouldnt he have explained the restrictions of the expression like:

    x cannot equal -6 and +2??

  • @EatShrimpPro yes i know but you constantly have to recall this math

  • @EatShrimpPro no offense we're learning this in 8th grade and actually this will be our exam for tom.

  • thanks! its so simple after watching this video. My teacher's explanations are horrible.

  • that easy!

  • I am watching this video because I need to bring up my grade in Algebra 2. It's actually helping me... but I still want to know, WHEN WILL I EVER USE THIS IN LIFE!!

  • @DaltonGrados Same here! I'm going into electromechanics!

  • @xxDanielTM93xx lucky... you're in college. I'm a sophomore in high school. I don't need to be doing this stuff.

  • @DaltonGrados i actually asked my teacher that b4 and she said probably never unless u get in a career field that has something to do with math....

  • @DaltonGrados Perhaps if you broadened your scope of the possiblities available to you for employment, you could answer this question yourself. Cheers

  • @DaltonGrados You'll use this in college if you go to a public university in the United States as part of the foundation to higher level mathematics. So, it could be argued that you'll use it to get a good job later in life, regardless of if you ever actually use it outside of the academic environment. Same goes with most of the "Basics" required for bachelors degrees.

  • @DaltonGrados _ I agree completely.

Then I figured out why this came about in the first place. This was a form of entertainment when sitcoms, movies, and game shows did not exist. Yes, this was someones idea of "FUN"! No one else had a better solution, so creating Algebra with "Gobb-lee-obb-a-goob-lee-alls" created new language too.

  • @DaltonGrados More than anything else really, this is a problem solving technique. Math is really mostly about the ability to problem solve. It is important to be able to problem solve in real life. This helped me very much.

  • @DaltonGrados ikr

  • I hate how I can grasp Calculus but not algebra. I prefer geometry/calc to this stuff. Ugh.

  • He has no emotion like the Pixie Faries on FairlyOdd Parents.

  • 1:29 he looks like someone just stole his candy lmao

  • @gow3isba Lmao true!! xD

  • Soo convenient that theres two X squared on each side. What about when there's not?

  • @jollyjosh123 You have to go pay their website ass loads of money to find that out. Or look elsewhere on youtube.

  • terruble...

  • ahah.. yeeap.. its summer.. but why do i still watch this ahah :P

  • i want to get the math award!!!!!! on grad. gr. 8 this year

  • he says "postive" instead of "positive" that is wat i hear

  • I love maths : ) so elegant.

  • Lol the reason we are all here is to learn something we suck at, now lets stop arguing and get with the program >.<

  • i love when people spawn arguments on math tutorial videos. sure says a lot about our country..

  • @Joebell2412 Lousy grammar speaks volumes about our education system also. We all know where this is heading, right?

  • @opinionatedinc , fuck off.

  • @Joebell2412 Oh my, I've made you cranky. XD

  • i love when people spawn arguments on math tutorial videos. sure says a lot about our country..

  • HA!! THE HELL THAT'S RATIONAL!! I COULDNT DO THIS TO SAVE MY LIFE!!

  • that's not the answer

    you idiot!!

  • @BigShlarb No, you go fuck yourself. I called him a dick sucking Canadian nigger. Learn to read, dumbshit. Maybe you should forget about math as falling off a skateboard requires little more than bad equilibrium

  • kamuka mu si cpt. reylord ass. sim

  • Wait... WHAT ?

  • This stuff is SOO HARD. luckily i can pause and rewind this. unfortunetly i cant do that with my teacher :/

  • why does he remind me of freddy from iCarly?....

Anyways this is hard. That is why I'm here.

  • give me an english teacher, with an easy step by step guide, then thats easier.

  • THANKS A LOT! I FINALLY UNDERSTOOD!

  • perfect, just what I was looking for :D

  • Thank u that helped :)

  • I just fell asleep

  • grr i hate this! math is the only reason i hate college =(

  • @MrzSpongy You're doing this in college? o.O

  • @Drkspeedy yup. Pre med major. im taking college algebra this semester.

  • Comment removed

  • @The1canadian1 lol learn it well. Youll require this knowledge for advanced cal in college.

  • @The1canadian1 Grade 10. Beat'cha

  • @The1canadian1 grade 10!

  • @laxitudeeeee ya i did too but you need it again and again and again

  • @The1canadian1 wtf?! im learning this in 8th grade :(

  • @Katka1413 cool shut up

  • @The1canadian1 you don't have to be a little bitch about it

  • Comment removed

  • @Katka1413 haha me too! :(

  • @The1canadian1 u serious? im a freshman in high school and im learning this

  • @kingdomheartsking47 You'd be suprised, you can take college algebra in high school too, but most people have to retake it. In my state around 50 percent of seniors can't even pass the GED test because forget alot of what they learned in previous grades.

  • @JarethGT wow

  • @MrzSpongy i'd sayyy grrrr too!!!!but i tell yhu, you'd like the subject more than anything if you concentrate on it more! :)

try it out..maybe you might like it too like me!

  • @MrzSpongy if yur doin this in college....ask yurself where yu went wrong

  • @cardkings94 lmao i went wrong because I am a pre med major who is going to college on a full biology scholarship. Yea I will do that! Im sorry that some of your feeble minds dont grasp the fact that just because you begin simplifying rationals in middle/high school, it is not the same level that you will use when you begin college.. I watched this video to get the basics downpack not because im just now learning the basics. Smh

  • the thing is, I'm not a patient person. oh well, I actually get this. kay, thanks.

  • Mathematics is SO EASY if you have a long patience.

  • and the answer is......snore

  • dude i shoulda found you a couple weeks ago! lol

  • wait, what if the numerator is a binomial and the denominator is a trinomial?

  • can somebody give me a website that when you key in the equation you'll get the answer? :(

  • What happens to the "x" of 9x and 4x? It just vanishes?

  • Comment removed

  • @benjiraul look up trinomial factoring

  • @opinionatedinc What's a chink? o.o

  • that guy is very enthusiastic

  • Why didn't you display the X?

  • WHAT! WHERE DID THE 6 COME FROM?

  • @toniablack33 You may want to watch ?v=Nj9GgAM-dTQ

  • @toniablack33 watch it properly..you might get where the six came from..it's a factor of 18

  • @toniablack33 x2+9x+18 when you factor it the answer is (x+6)(x+3)

they get 6 because when you multiply the 6 and 3 the product is 18 and when you add 6 and 3 the answer is 9 :))

  • He is such a pimp.

  • I think he explains everything so well. I am taking a summer class and it is rushed so much I definately need to come home and look at other ways of explaining in case I didn't get what my math teacher rushes through. I really appreciate it thanks. I always use yourteache

r.com first and then maybe another. I love the way he just says what i need to know thanks again Keep doing the clips.

  • keep doing these lessons this helped me. Glad to see i'm the only one appreciating this. This refreshes my memory.

  • HE LOOKS LIKE SOME CRAZY STUDENT INTERRUPT HIM, WHILE HE IS DOING WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND, AND SAID PLEASE TEACH ME THIS CRAZY MATHS! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @19Smackme ok,, you're 12 aren't you??

  • this guy sounds like Mr. garrison bahahaha

  • I really REALLY REALLY love math. (Sarcasm)

  • Just someone tell me please, when will I really need this shit in real life. Someone was really fucking bored when they invented this shit, now we all have to suffer.

  • @TheTami1975 u use it in life to get on a childs nerves xD

  • @Yoshi1x8 Or on an adults!!! =)

  • Just someone tell me please, when will I really need this shit in real life. Someone was really fucking bored when they invented this shit, now we all have to suffer.

  • im only watching this because of exams lol

  • Seriously, fuck math. /:

  • @khcodesrikurawks are you from the US? or Uk? I just wanted to ask in which form you guys were taught doing these rational expressions (simplifing/multiplying/subtracting/adding etc.) VA/HA. thanks!

  • @dfdf03 I'm from NJ, in the US. I just needed this for a final, and thanks to you, I understood.

  • i fucking love this guy!!!!!!

  • when the fuck are we going to use this in our lives in the future? its so fucking pointless. they give us so much shit to stress and worry about in school when were never going to fucking use it. its just extra information that complicates our lives.urgg u hate school and i don't get MATH.

  • what the fuck

  • the fucking homie

  • guys stop hating hes trying his best

  • YA CAPTE! :D

  • HES SO SEXY.

  • @100xines I hate you

  • K, If no one else got this I did, and If you didn't get it from the video just read this... SOOO Lets use the top one: x(squared) + 9x + 18 so start by puting your little parenthesis and put x at the beginning (x ) (x ) THEN Look at the two numbers you have to come up with 2 numbers that add up to 9 (the first number) and 2 numbers that add up to 18 (the second number) *THEY BOTH HAVE TO BE THE SAME NUMBERS* That would be 6&3 6+3=9 6*3=18 Do the same to the bottom(:
  • He looks and sounds like he hates his life

  • @MrMaggot6661 when all you do is study math, you have to hate life!! lol

  • @MrMaggot6661 man u had laughing!!!

  • @MrMaggot6661 by doing this he must hate his life

  • @MrMaggot6661 i think he has never gotten laid, that would explain why he hates his life /:

  • @MrMaggot6661 he probably hates math when he was in eight grade and he regrets that he teaches this subject today.

  • @MrMaggot6661 He's teaching Algebra on youtube. I can't speak for him, but I would hate that

  • He's dull and boring, this is making it harder to focus!!

  • What is the real point in learning this? I mean unless you're going into a field that requires you know something like this, you shouldn't have to know this stuff. Most of the students who have to learn this are just going to forget all about simplifying rational expressions after their test over this chapter. It's a waste of time, in my opinion.

  • this subject is fucking hard ! ):

  • @rochisus in which form did you learn these rational expressions?

  • @rochisus I KNOW RIGHTTTTTT. And it's killing me softly now. -_________-"

  • he did an easy one:(

  • his voice makes me so sleepy!!

  • i still have no freaking clue about this...and i watched it twice.

  • @Bloom25145 iv gotten all d's so far this year. and im guessing its the factoring part you dont get? its pretty easy man.

  • 5-x/x^2-8x+5

    ?!

i got the first part of it though:) thank youuu i wish u were my teacher

  • stop at 1:30 and see how long you can go without laughing!

  • @aruuraa LMFAO

  • MR. FITZZ!

  • its official. my teacher cannot teach algebra to save her life

  • How to people dislike this???? i finally get it!

  • Comment removed

  • it would be more helpful if you did harder questions!! this was not helpful at all!!

    How would I do 4w^2 + 4w - 1 / 2w+3 ??

  • @CTLee420

You need to use long division. You can't use factoring here. This video will not help you, so you should search up, long division of polynomials. You may end up with a function + a remainder function (just like normal long division where you divide and have a remainder). Hope that helps.

A good site I usually use and have been using since grade 12 to check my math is wolframalpha dawt come, Write in your equation and it'll show you step by step how to do it!
