My friend bought one of these and it turned out to be a complete piece of crap. First it the built in wireless card stopped working (even if you changed it out) then the hard drive died. He settled for using a USB wireless adapter. But eventually the entire laptop died and wont power up.

Apparently they over heat and the motherboards get damaged. Its very common and HP REFUSES to recognize it. The whole thing feels really cheap and has an awful display.

I have this notebook, but 15 days after the warranty expires it stopped working. Reason: overheating. I never did bad use of notebook, 99% of times that I used was over a table, the notebook never fell... nothing. Now I have a lot of HP's trash at home. Looked like that existed one clock bomb inside my notebook that will explode after warranty expires.

That Dell may be overheating...

A company I did some work for had a load of P4 Dells, one of which had a dead motherboard due to corrosion which was a design flaw with that model.

Always get desktops custom built pref by someone who builds their own that you know, or go to a decent comp-shop that will do it for you.

Don't buy it!!!! I've got a TX2000 and I don't know why but it suddenly stopped rotating the only way to rotate it is by going to the menu not pressing the rotation button on the screen. I'm going to have to re-install the windows. Also it always gets got, the fan is always on at mid velocity, and it makes it uncomfortable to carry it as a tablet pc. It burns your arm or your legs!!! I'm getting probably one of the DV series with a 4gb ram.

I think the "US" at the end of the model number is because United States. In the Latin American version of this models they put an "LA" at the end.

It RRP in UK is £799, which is great value considering the processing power it's packing in 12.1", and all them other features. Even cheaper in USA I think, and I stated in other post HP american site lets you upgrade the processor for peanuts.

A doctor won't buy an ENTERTAINMENT laptop for work. I've worked in hospitals and the doctors hated the tablet PCs forced upon the hospital, they were impractical. It's not all "checklists" and "tickboxes" - almost all of the time, you need to actually type something.

And the swivel screen? I give it 6 months till you snap that bad boy right off.

That's great, I've always favored HP desktops and laptops mainly because of their elegant designs and how awesome their products are. This one's great, but I bet it costs over a grand. I don't know why that was not mentioned. You should also mention the downsides so we know exactly what we're dealing with. There is a setting in the BIOS to either enable or disable the 'fan always on' function. The problem is when I disable it, it does not seem to effect the fan. It is ALWAYS on. Is this a problem with my device, or is it typical of all?

When I tested one in the shop it was dead quiet (it was running without a battery, straight from AC) Now the one I have has the fan always on and I can't seem to turn it off, even changing the BIOS settings has no effect. I know wonder if the shop had some how 'tweaked' the device to force the fan to turn off. Does any one know?

Major hardware problems with TX notebooks. Check out HP's own forums or Google "Pavilion TX Wireless Card Vanish". The notebooks overheat and sever the link to the wireless adapter and then the whole motherboard fails. Loads of people with the same problem. i have tx2114ca its the high end one,,and its great spicially if u like to draw and paint. i used to have tx1320ca before,, and its not touch screen, you have to stap the screen to touch, not good at all, but the tx2 is way better
