    Dan Dotson

  • Awesome. I never knew the Auctioneers at Storage Wars have a youtube channel. subbed :).

  • I love storage wars!! Esp. Brandi..:P great cast!! Dan u r the man n ur wife kicks ass. U can spit fire!!! U should now become a rap artist.. Haha:P I hope they don't take valuable goods out of the locker before auctions.... That would make it lamme for the buyer. keep it up!!

    -----PanDa :)

  • Sorry for post again- Yes the show might be top show on A and E but not not number 1 top cable 25. Keep the show fresh re-event and sway away from predicablabilty. I want to miss a show and be bummed i did

  • Now I do have to say That Auction Hunters is keeping it fresh and stay focus on auctions and makes it fun to watch and sways away from a soap opera.

  • I watch the show, its now very predicable and has gotten away from what made it great in season one. But as for ratings I work in radio and have access to ratings! I did got and pulled up the Cable TV top 25 weekly ratings and SW is not in the top 25. Now when the new season and re-runs aren't being played then yes they should bounce back. I'm sure the show is selling due to the demographic the show is trying to reach.

  • That sucks that the ratings have dropped from 4 to below 25.Top 25 Basic cable shows for the week ending April 24, 2011:

  • @natetest2 Storage Wars Rocks highest rated non fiction show on A&E for 2011

  • Never seen so many people in traccy daks in all my life, maybe they hope to find some clean clothes in these auctions!

  • if u guys want to make money playing and testing video games go to my site and check the link under the video

  • Hey Mr. Goebigs, sounds like you need to hit a meeting, or return to anger management classes.

  • who cares stop crying you babys

  • I found some great deals at a "high point storage"

  • I didn't realize Dan had a life outside of Storage Wars. Nice to see a normal auction without the antics of Mike, Barry, and the rest of the gang. If I came to an auction and saw them I'd just go home........

  • My husband and I reside in Hemet, CA. Question for auctioneer: How do I find out about future auctions in my area?

    P.S. Auctioneer lady rocks!

  • @EMMYWDLD Hello, You can check out all auctions in So California at americanauctioneers. com or for auctions all over the US and Canada you can check out storagetreasures. com If all else fails, give us a call at 800 838 7653 ext 102 and we will help you out. Thanks for the comments

  • nicely done Lady Auctioneer. A realistic representation of storage auctions (and what a great smile)

  • The cast of the show are not the only ones that win auction units, but they are the only ones that the show has interest in following.

    Dan Dotson, Auctioneer

  • How come only the cast of of the show wins the auctions and the rest of the people who attend don't.

  • So, in the state of California, you do not by law, have to inventory each storage unit prior to auction?

  • I went to my first storage auction and some guy got tased! I got it on video. Check out my channel

  • @natetest2

You need to get all of your facts straight. You are talking about the other show "Auction Hunters" where auctioneer Michael Joyce conducted an auction/filming at Acme Storage whereas Vince A. attended and found out it was not a real auction. This was not our show. I do not have the Acme account. I have known Vince A. for 20 yrs and he told me the same story. I am a real, with real buyers, real units and real money. Don't spew your lies. All an auctioneer has, is his word.

    -D

  • I didn't pay for my locker once and I went to the auction to see if they still had all my stuff in it and it was half empty they took all the good stuff out b4 they auctioned it off

  • That's the biggest concern I would have about attending a storage auction.... how do you know the company hasn't removed all the valuables and then put a new padlock on the door? This might be a good project for an investigate reporter.... fill up a locker, photograph the contents, abandon it, then show up on auction day and see if anything's been disturbed. I suppose a smart bidder could inspect the padlock before they cut it off, if it looks like it's brand new I'd be suspicious.

  • @packrat79 Well a new or old lock doesn't matter they could have locks from 15 years ago laying around as old as the storage place its self

  • @packrat79 Don't storage units remove the previous owner's lock and put on a company lock when they go delinquent on their payments? That way they can't retrieve any of their items. Therefore, every unit up for auction has a lock that was put on by an employee/owner making the chances of this occurring very possible. I could be mistaken.

  • @packrat79 Im actually concerned about that too cuz I bought a storage unit that was full and i mean full of hunting gear I found hunter clothing, chairs, practice targets,a ton of ammunition and gun holsters but no guns I still have a feeling that the people in charge kept the guns...

  • @natetest2 and bwd111

I thought I blocked the spewer. So you made a new account, very original. There are many people that have attended on filming days, They happen all of the time. people have a blast on filming days, Its a straight show and auction. So everything you say is just not true. Your buyer in Riverside should come forward and make his own claims unless of course they are just too busy or really just in your head. Happy Bidding. See you at the auctions

    Dan Dotson, Auctioneer

  • The show is fake. Paid actors making 12k a show.

  • @bwd111

The action is real, The bidders are real, the units are real, You my friend must be the faker, or at least a misinformed liar. You throw information around like you know what you are talking about. None of your comments are accurate. Thanks for watching the show.

    Dan Dotson, Auctioneer

  • The show is full actors making 12k a show. You really think advertisers are going to pay for untrained actors. The people in the show that bid said they are getting paid and the show is there to entertain.

  • Fun video... wish you could do our auctions. superStorageGroup

  • Laura thanks for communicating with me via email the other day when I had an auction question.

I buy 5-10 units per week and video everything and post it on my site. Very entertaining and once in a while even find something valuable.

  • This is Laura and Dan, We appreciate your love and kindness. Thanks for all of your support, have a great 2011 and enjoy the show. We just heard 20 more shows picked up for next season. Yipee

    D and L

  • Keep up the great work Dotson's! and Happy New Year and I will keep watching Auction Wars for ya!

  • Dan is THE MAN! He's a great auctioneer and makes Storage Wars MUCH better.

  • Dan is amazing, he makes the A & E Show Auction Wars that much more enjoyable! Does he do all California auctions? Or just SoCal? Keep up the great work.

  • Can anybody tell me where i can get a schedule or anything to know when the auction are as in times? Thanks

  • I just saw you guys on A&E Storage wars, grats! I recognized the big smile from Laura.

  • I enjoy to watch your auctionning on youtube.I wish we had these storage unit sales here in Manitoba Canada. Been going to auctions since I was a kid and I still enjoy it !!!

  • i am watching this because of Storage Wars on A&E.

  • learn to breathe (it comes from the diaphragm not the lungs), dont use "gotta" as a fill word (it takes too long for your tongue and mouth to form the words), and in my opinion you have the worst "tell" in the world (the whole going once, twice).. please understand this is not me bashing you as an auctioneer or as a woman auctioneer. as a fellow auctioneer 3rd generation, just a few helpful hints from my point of view

  • Hello, We appreciate your expert advise, You claim to be a 3rd generation auctioneer, however there is nothing about you anywhere. And as Laura's husband I do take it as you are bashing her as a women and a auctioneer. In my opinion she is an excellent auctioneer, gets great money and the folks love her, so thanks again for the advise.

    Dan Dotson, Auctioneer

  • @theauctionguydan ....its advice, not advise. theres nothing about me on here cause i dont record and post me selling shit on youtube. that makes me not a 3rd gen auctioneer? i never said she didnt get the money or folks dont like her. maybe you should join "active auctioneers association, " a southern california based association for over 30 years. or look up active auctioneers foundation on which i sit on the board, before you tell me im not 3rd gen because i dont have something on youtube.

  • @TheGoebigs I am a member of the AAA, Your dad must be Bill, Tell him, Dan Dotson said hello, And you are right you do not have to put shit up on youtube to succeed, but it sure worked out for me. I did not mean to disrespect you.

    Dan Dotson, Auctioneer

  • @theauctionguydan I also never tried to disrespect you or your wife. i gave 3rd party advice and tried to be clear about my thoughts towards this vid. im glad you succeeded by doing things on youtube

  • @TheGoebigs i call bullshit for sure, either way tho, you seem like an ignorant, real life troll and you should probably go get yourself a 3rd generation gavel, take a deep breath through your diaphragm, and kindly insert it up your ass.... Just my humble advice.

  • @TheGoebigs i dont think it matters how she says it if she sells the storages its a win win , oh just cause she didnt pronounce something right it sold for only 2000 not 3000 ahahah ridiculous

  • @TheGoebigs Well I think Laura does a great job. She is beautiful, happy, and very personable. I like watching her in the videos. Everybody is different in this world, and to me, there's nothing worse than somebody telling another person how to act and be. Am I wrong everybody.

  • @TheGoebigs Auctions are suppose to be fair as well, so what did you by "worst tell"? like are they suppose to trick people... or be unfair? I really don't get it...

  • You do a great job at auctioneering! My aunt is a auctioneer. I work with AAA Auctioneers in Sioux City, Iowa. We hold household auctions, and consignment auctions 2 times a week. It's so much work setting up, and boxing everything, but it's also fun at the same time. :) Your like the 3rd lady auctioneer I know of now, ahhh, not many around these days I think. Oh well, Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you LilMizMyers19,

Thanks for the compliments. There are a few lady auctioneers out there, We should have our own association. Keep up the good work and more importantly keep enjoying your good work, That makes all of the difference. Happy Bidding

    Laura Dotson, Auctioneer

  • @MrGhostXMASpast I would suggest that if you know your check has bounced you should call your storage facility and let them know what happened, Most all facilities will work out an arrangement with you.

  • Stop by and check out Sadke aka Sydon Jerked out @ da Pike.

  • basiclly some sort of system in place such as that of the speciality auction houses such as Sotheby's or Christies w/ a catalog or the like (in this day & age of the net perhaps a video scan posted on a site or better picture than a lock snap, & who wants to plunk down $200?), though I fully understand the storage model is very different from an antique auction for instance an update off practice/service would be favorable - don't you think?

I personally would bid higher more often

  • atleast 5 mins. preview ought be industry standard, (examine each box/item as seen fit, no yelling to the contrary) otherwise it's blind russian roullet unfairly tilted to the auction house & the storage management (good units would fetch top dollar & bad units would get cleaned out still a win-win for everyone, crowds would be smaller too [w/ sharks;])

I also would like to opening bids at $1NR(start'em low & watch'em go [fast] was my moto on eBay, I can't complain) I dare you to try 1 unit.

  • Dear Begbucks,

I have been reading your comments and your dis satifaction with your local auctioneer Bob. You as a seasoned buyer should not complain about the time given to preview. Any seasoned buyer should be able to take a look in a short while and decide whether these folks had anything worth bidding on. We sell 10,000 units a year, 5 min. per person per unit times 40 buyers, the math makes no sense unless you want only one auction per day and are willing to run off all of your dealers

  • You clearly misunderstood my point, I was refering to 5 min for everyone (it's when I pear into boxes, even want to feel the heft of something as you can't judge a book by it's cover orso to get an idea as to where my money is going that I encounter resistance. I could imagine that w/60 people this could pose a challange but I attended a few w/only a handfull of attendees & still the same bs! (this is primarlly what I dislike about lockup sales) A slight tweaking would make for happy camper(s)

  • @Begbucks @Begbucks In CALIFRONIA, it is ILLEGAL to enter into or touch the contents of any storage unit up for public auction, as the contents thereof are still legally someone elses property until you or someone are the high bidder and fully paid up winner of the unit.

  • @hickorysmokedhorse Really? I see, well perhaps thats the case (& if that's the law overthere I concede my comments) although over here in Mass I'm fairly certain [but not 100%] that the regulations allow more preview time though the 20 sec. rule has been grandfathered as in your state, still given popularity of these auctions some revision bill needs to be addressed I would think.

  • cause some loser failed to pay his rent lamebrane!

  • You see in urban areas folks have small apartments & condo's so I would imagine you might get lucky as opposed to hoarding, cheapskate, deadbeats semi- homeless clinging to "treasures" if you know what I mean, further the policies are tilted to the auctioneers as I can't preview, peer into boxes or enter most units (what's up w/ that?) perhaps 30 sec. tops when the auctioneer "isn't looking" (on purpose :) or lame policies like when our Bob Arbuckle did a police auction (sideline) note I'm a...

  • ...cont 3.) major purchaser of bicycles - did I salivate over you BMX vid - (I was a eBay PS out of the last 6+ years) & Bob sets his own rules (w/ a fuzzy intent but costly for the company) such as if a kid is bidding against an adult on a bike the adult's bid is null & void (even if kido bid $5 & I $75 on a high end bike cusing me to 'buy out the kids which caused a scene off sorts & further infurated the auctioneer), but what bugs me out is the minimal preview time (I would suggest atleast 5

  • also they tend to start this stuff really steep (like that used low end furnature went for $150 - that a deal?!?! really if you want deals- check out the lockup's dumpster AFTER the auction or strike a deal w/ the employee to slip you tips & /or save better stuff for you (even if you have to pay more for a piece it sure beats the work unloading as well as the disposal charges of the rejects) - I don't mean to crash this post - it's just that I find these auctions a big $cam for $ucker$

  • You are wrong on many levels but I think I will leave it that way

Replied from: lady auctioneers husband dan on his sons youtube account

  • hey I don't mean to be jerk (I'm sure you work for your money) but each month I get a storageauctionsusa flyer, packed w/ pending auctions, but atleast in my experience on the east coast thats how it is. perhaps your area is different, there's another fellow also on youtube thats striking gold! (I would imagine the urban areas fair better in my locale it's less effluent, seasonals, put together from Wal-mart & bidders who want their useless stuff back (as homeowners don't need storage) Cont...

  • you know the thing that bugs me out is the "30 sec. window off oppourtinity" viewing time & often you can't check out the items inside so it's a blind bid, usually far more than I would charge to haul most junk away, the units in my area are stuffed by the poor having little valuables, & tons of junk, usually the winning buyer is unable to meet the 24hr cleanout timeframe & needs to rerent the unit for atleast a month, other units have stairs (inside) & a a PITA to unload, I usually got suckered

  • Follow your spiritual guidance, like signs and not the negative one's. Since we don't know what's in it, the spirits do.

  • yeah that sure helps! (I'll stick w/ my git feeling)

  • i bed her husband loses all arguments

  • She seems very nice and pleasant. It certainly helped to lift the atmosphere and would make the auction experience more enjoyable.

  • These Auction Storages are worth going for and worth bidding for, except one thing you're not allowed to go into a unit to inspect the items prior to the auction. They won't let you go in. Only what can be visible is what you're allowed to see. But who know's, after winning the bid one might find a lucky treasure that was hidden way beneath inside the drawers.

  • I bought a 5x5 unit that had a couple of bags of trash in it. Nobody bid on it and I got it for $5.

It was junk, but not trash (if that makes sense). In one of the bags was a jewelry box that had a 22k solid gold chain. I sold it for $739 on ebay :)

That's my best find to date.

  • how you get a list of when the auctions are taking place? I always hear about the local ones a few days late.

  • These type auctions are required to be posted at least 15 days prior to sale. You should check the Legal Notices in the newspaper. You could also call the storage facilities and ask when their next auction will be held.

  • Great video!

  • I am likeing these storage auctions!

  • I don't believe there's any law that requires the bidder to return anything after the auctioneer says "sold." Trying to get something back may be a UCC violation. The former owner has no claim or rights to things they abandon via non-payment. Since the auctioneer executes the sale, THEY have the responsibilty to remove items not lawfully allowed to be sold.

  • The auctioneer does not typically go through the goods. "Inventorying" is usually done in general terms, such as can be seen without going through the stuff. They do not remove anything from the unit, as it still belongs to the owner, until it is SOLD.

You agree to the TERMS of the auction when you bid. Therefore, she stated that YOU are required to turn in personal items (which have no true monetary value), so you are bound to do so.

The U.C.C. has nothing to with it, in this regard.

  • The Texas Auctioneer is right.

  • Only the people that fail to pay get their stuff sold. The process takes approx. 64 days to get to this point.
