While bacteria may be the best known they are not what we descended from. If I remember correctly there is a point at which among unicellular creatures evolution was not happening as we know it, after that the three domains appeared, Archaea, Bacteria, and Eukaraya. None descended from others but all descended from a founding population that were all prokaryotic, but not bacteria.

However if you want to get into laymens terms calling them bacteria would be the easiest route. not true, but easy

I don't know the specifics of the evidence but there is evidence at the cellular level that there was not a single ancestral line for all life. There is a distinct possibility that the three life "Domains" arose separately the others.

At the very least Eukaryota (including humans) is probably a peer to, not cousin of Bacteria or Archaea. Watch out for Creationtwits trying to use that one to disprove science.

No... the beeps are not evidence that Hovind is wrong... they are only used to indicate WHERE he is wrong. And Hovind's opinions are usually not well backed up. The First Law of Thermodynamics states that the energy of a system is the amount of energy added by heating the system minus energy used by system. The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that heat will always flow from hotter regions to colder regions unless energy is added to the system.
