  • Hi there! Just built a DM-2, and I am getting a subtle but annoying clock noise (high pitch whine) at any setting past 200ms. I read that this is somehow normal on analog delays, no matter how you set the internal trimpots. Did you notice that on yours? Thanks for the nice review! Helped me a lot in setting my pedal.

  • Best sounding delay out there if you can find one lol the dd7 has a analog setting also that don't sound bad IMO

  • Hey, nice demo dude! This one sounds much better than the DD-3, I will consider using it my saxophone.... I'll let you know how it sounds!

  • Reggae pedal FTW

  • Hi,your cables in pedalboard are custom made? Tnx. :)

  • 5:25 - 5:45 = my first mushroom trip.

  • no one on youtube knows how to focus a fucking camera

  • what a battered beauty !

  • Great analog pedal. There is beauty in simplicity.

  • I love this pedal. Still can't believe I got it off this gal on Craigslist for $20. Hahaha, what a steal. I love the feedback noises you can get off of it.

  • Vas182@ there gorge L patch cables and wire I highly recommend them Eric Johnson and David gilmour uses them.

Hey man u have a great sound goin there.

  • What kind of patch cables are those?

  • what a sound!!!! man!!!

  • that's a good sounding delay!

@Robkempfilms thanks for the tip, I skipped the talking and got right to the useful part

  • The DD-2 and DD-3 which is identical can make those funny noises! A lot of people including myself are chasing both the DM-2 and DM-3 at the moment because they are rare and analogue. But the DD-3 is a fine delay and I've had one nearly 20 years and I've had a lot of fun with it running guitars, drum machines, vocals, etc through it. The DD-3 has longer delay time also. I'm sure a MXR Carbon Coby would be more than adequate for an analogue pedalhead. Why wait to find a bargain DM? Get playing!

  • Mate you take real good care of you expensive pedals don't you! BAHHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

  • I know a guy who is selling it for $140. Really. I´m going to buy it to him before he realizes his mistake...

  • Really nice review! I can see why this pedal commands such a high price these days. Thanks!

  • i have 1 boxed and would never sell it i have 2 dd7s with a dm2 built in which is okay

and tthe new belcat analog delay that rocks

but i always go back to the dm2 it my altime fave pedal

  • My local music shop has one for sale for £200 it's well used I'd want about that sort of price for mine , I'm using a t Rex replica so got all the delay I need

  • Got one these for sale pretty mint i'n box

  • @1967markk

how much are you selling it for?

I have a malekko 600 dark version if you are willing to trade for your DM-2.

  • Ahhh there's one of these used at my guitarcenter, going for 200. Was really excited, plugged it in, and there was signal passing through, but the pedal itself wasn't working. Big bummer. : \

  • Great review! The pedal sounds great.

  • are you playing a Megapuss song in here?

  • Just got a new onein the box for 50 perfect shape hell yes

  • @jhump2431 how?!

  • @charlietango48 ahhhh craigslist she also sold me a ibanez swell flanger too for 20 and it was mint to and in the box. they where her dads before he died and he said to sell them cheap so that muscains can afford them, she gave me one of his cds that he recorded and it was amazing a really cool guy, kinda wished i got to meet him.

  • A DM-2, a DD-2, and what looks like a CE-2... Can I have your board?? lol

  • Warmer than the MM. The best period.

  • nice gear!!!!! but, the les paul should be tuned first lol

  • Would this work well on bass?

  • Good demo. Shame they don't make that pedal anymore. You should be happy to have one.

  • do you happen do know what settings you would need to get a dotted 8th or quater note? thanks

  • This is such a nice sounding delay. Such a shame their awesome older pedals like this, the DC-3 or the PS-2 are all discontinued! If they remade any of these I'd probably buy them without a second thought.

  • Nice video. Nice sounds. Good playing.

  • I just waited minutes for the first 1.40 to buffer, but still didn't hear the pedal. GET ON WITH IT!! ;)

  • @Robkempfilms...Try getting a faster internet connection and wasting your own time superstar! ;)

  • @rustycowbell Hahaha!!! No shit! Couldn't have said it better myself. Video played fine for me! Go cry somewhere else, you bitchy little pussy.

  • @rustycowbell Hahaaaa right on, man!

  • very nice sounding pedal. guitar is a bit out of tune btw..

  • Nice. But I'm saving up for a 412. effects are no good if you don't have anything to play them through

  • Great sound!!

Did you use a compressor/sustainer simultaneously?

    bye!

  • Great!

    PD: Tune your guitar :)

  • great! looks like a Fender roadworn!

  • Awesome demo.

Your concept of short and long (@4:00) needs rethinking though :)

  • My dd-3 for your dm-2?

    I wish man.

Great sounding delay. I wanna get one someday

  • my pedalboard has two of them. I feel like im in space floating by the moon

  • that's crazy noises can do it with any digital delay? DD-3 or something?

  • I think most delays make crazy noises when you adjust the delay time while playing!

Just turn your echo repeats or feedback up too.

    Have fun!!

  • @memsgtr dd3 along with most other digital delays do not oscillate.

  • one of the best analog delays... for sure

  • Sweet demo.... I just sold my DM-2 o ebay for £200. I bought it way back in 83 directly from Roland UK when they were based in Brentford West London. Great pedal, I never gigged with it and it was in mint condition.... just wanted it to go to a good home.....

  • Hi, awesome sound... wich DM-2 version is that?

    1st, 2nd or 3rd?

  • no idea

  • gonna built this right now

  • Great Review, but i suggest you tune your b string ;)

  • @mattp7394

its actually the high E string :p

  • which is better?

    dm1 dm2 or dm3?

  • dm2

  • Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys uses a Boss DM-1. hehe, so at least one is not dead.

  • i like the pedal! great demo! thx!

  • lol AWESOME crazy noises

  • sounds cool, but i've always preferred ehx pedals

  • que masa,increible,buenísimo.quiero uno de esos,re coxon,re 13 re bugman

  • How comes i cannot find any videos of the DM-1 do you know why this is?

  • Most of the DM-1s are probably dead.

  • it's rare i think.. i think a boss RE-20 would do a good job too, and the Dm-1 is second handed quite expensive.. and a RE-20 isn't that expensive

  • thanks for posting

  • cool pedal what do you think is better boss dm-2 or ibanez ad-80?

  • How much will you sell this for, man?

  • mmmmmgood question, well Im not looking for cash, but Id maybe consider trading for an Ibanez AF-9 Auto filter, or an Ibanez WH10 Wah.

    Got any of those?????? 

  • ..i don't have any vintage gear :/ the only one i have near vintage is an early 90's memory man. :(

  • The Memoryman is a sweet pedal, I don't think the DM2 has much better sound then the MM.

My suggestion is to try and replicate the sound that you liked in my video, on your own.

Many guitarists get caught up in trying to find that specific pedal thinking it'll answer all their tone wants and problems but in the end its all in your head and hands.

    Happy tone hunting!!

  • cool thanks. btw i see you have a lot of BOSS. What other pedals do you have?

  • your 3rd (G) string is flat.

  • it happens from time to time.

  • wow, cool noise sounds at the end. have to get myself one dm-2! ;)

  • You have some compressor on , don't you?!

  • what does compressor pedal do?

  • it amplifys, and levels out your sound.

  • you can think of it as an automatic volume knob.

so if you turn the threshold knob (max volume) to some level, everything louder than that will be lowered, or compressed, to that level.

f.ex. if you are playing very soft music and have low threshold and play one very loud note, it will be compressed to that same low level.

  • thanks for answering. I just appreciated it.

  • It decreases your dynamic range I.E. play a loud note and it won't be very biting play a soft note it will be much louder than how you played it. It gives a nice twang to the sound as well, country players use them religiously.

  • no compression, I guess the amp has some natural tube compression.

  • thanks

  • Hi. Just wondering what the maximum delay time was on this thing? 350ms or something like that?

Also just thought i'd mention that I own a Keely Ibanez AD9, and the DM-2 sounds much nicer, even stock!

    Thanks for the demo.

  • I'm on the lookout for one of these - however, I've heard that sometimes the trim pots have been altered if you get one on Ebay - beware. I have an MXR Carbon Copy that sounds almost as good as this.

  • If trim pots arent as stock just change them, manipulate them, and who knows, maybe you'll get a better sound than the original (:

  • Zax -wow that story about where your dad went to college was really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

  • Wow huge revolution between that and my dd-7, still sound s great though

  • noises at the end were awesome. You just used a feedback, right?

  • I just turned all the dials to max and played with the repeat rate, the sounds you hear is the pedal going into self oscillation.

My amp was not feedbacking at all at the end, it was all the DM2.

You can can make crazy sounds like this with just about any delay, analog or digital, all you do is while playing with your delay pedal on turn your repeat rate, or delay time dial and you'll hear the pedal go crazy!

    Enjoy! :)

  • thank you, I'll use it for sure!

  • I'm very lucky I guess haha. My dad went to Humbar College for the arts he went in two years as a musician and came out a carpenter, he continues to play , and hes really good it's just he was more interested in being able to make money instead of the impossible odds. Anyways he has tonnes of the original boss pedals in a box in the basement and he gave em to me. The DM-2 is sadly meeting it's death, the volume cuts out randomly a lot but if you turn the repeat rate fast it sounds like a radio.

  • Send it to howard davis, he can probably fix it. google him, first result.

  • Thanks but it's all good now, great pedal.

  • Can I get a good Pink Floyd sound out of an analog delay? What about the intro to welcome to the jungle

  • analog delay is perfect for pink floyd, they wouldv used analog alot. but im not sure if slash wouldv even had an analog delay, im sure he wouldve, but his delay sounds too perfect in welcome to the jungle, no way it couldve been analog.

  • Floyd often used Roland Space echo or the deluxe memory man. Slash uses a rack mount digital delay from boss and rack mount wah so he c an have 3 wahs on different sides of the stage.

  • gilmour mainly used binson echorec, mxr and boss digi-delays

i think this pedal is probably more suitable for the early stuff; up to and including dsotm

  • Lush!

  • tune your guitar.

  • @thisisawasteoftime You are a waste of time.

  • awesOoOOme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow they really don't make 'em like the dm-2 anymore!!

  • i have a dm3 a mate gave me which i repaired have you ever come across one and how do tey compare to dm2

  • I WILL BUY ONE OFF SOMEONE!!!!

  • BEAUTY!

  • i absoultey love my DM-2

do you know what BBD chip yours has?

  • Aaaah, the grand old lady of analogue delay. I wouldn't sell mine for anything.

  • I have a DM-3. Yours sounds better...
