  • not that nice

im..not really surprise by the quality in that video...sorry, but look like with the canon 5d you can have something pretty good..even bettre i think:P

  • awesome video dude this is soooo pro

  • Niceeeeeeeeeeeee

  • what music is this???????

  • damn bro...u got a fuken good eye!!!!!!!!!

    wilpower.

  • was it color corected ?

  • fountain was the best!

  • Very beautiful video and music... what music is that?Sounds alot like Philip Glass.

  • If you break it can I have it

  • is this philip glass's music? sounds like his style

  • Sounds like "I'm going to make a cake" from The Hours (by Philip Glass)

  • To be honest this footage doesn't look that great.

  • I watched it fullscreen HQ and it looked AMAZING! I look forward to seeing one of these in person some day.

  • These would be even better with the cam on a tripod. How heavy is RED?

Is there an optional gyro for it?

Some nice shots. I like the pan up and to left on the last few seconds. I'll have to check out the HD version.

  • With hard drive, Matte box, follow focus and monitor, and a ultra prime, about 45 pounds. Rolled up T-Shirt on the shoulder works great. I AC, and it is a different animal than a Arri 435. Less paper work, and no changing tent.

  • that would be the loader's deal then wouldn't for the paper work and tent?

  • Yeah, and that's we aim for... to make the AC's job easier. And he'll try to tell you it;s good for production if he's eating donuts. All Red footage looks like crap. Let's see it in action. Fast-moving tracking, good lighting (not just HMIs blowing in your windows), and special effects. Give me 35mm-- heck, give me S16mm any day over the RED hype. I'll buy the scarlet to make my local ads, but for film why would you relegate your cinematography to a DIT-- Some computer science geek?

  • what is the song?

  • I can only agree about Youtube having more traffic for sure. Seeing it on here, that's probably why some ealier poster mentioned about getting better footage from his HVX200. Nice shooting by the way :)

  • Thanks!

  • why bother putting up Red footage on this highly crappy compressed youtube service. To make it look like normal standard def footage? Youtube can not do any justice to representing the phenominal image the Red Camera acheives!!!

  • I agree. Vimeo is better for HD anyway. Youtube has more traffic. It's a trade-off.

  • @lynxrecords1 Never the less, if it's a good camera worth the money it should be able to hold up

  • Who composed this music? It's incredible!

  • Philip Glass

  • what's the piece called?

  • My hat is off to you. No tripod or actioncam and you can barely notice the wobble. Imagine you'd do with a nice tripod :)

I finally got my oConnor 2060HD + Legs and it's just the thing I was missing.

Next on my wish list is ActionCam.

    The shots look gorgeous.

  • guys, remember to always use a tripod. And by the way, the Arri lenses that we're using for this camera are way better than the ones that RED actually offers. So go ahead and try it out.

  • Amazing video. I will be getting mine next month. I am anxiously waiting for that moment.

  • hollywood does not have a monopoly on filmmaking anymore

like music making it can be created in ones bedroom

youtube is our medium and who cares if it doesnt look pro

just watch youtube videos we don't care about the amateurish look

  • ooooh ahhhh

    I wish I had $17000 :(

  • 3 grand for the red scarlet coming out. Might want to check that out...

  • good point

looks like a good camera as well

  • Whatever moron compared a HVX to being comparable is obviously not any sort of DP. I like this camera because not just anyone can flip it on and use it, you have to know what you're doing, with an HVX you can turn it on and get a descent image. That's what's wrong with "movies" today, anymore moron with $10k can make a film. The red is perfect because it's cheap enough for people to buy and challenging enough not to let anyone use it.

  • I had to comment on how ignorant this post is. The rise in digital movie making by anyone is exactly the kind of renaissance movie making needed. Who cares what you shoot with. It's the content that matters and digital technology allows many unique voices to be heard. You're just pissed off cuz now you have more competition and you'll have to work a little harder.

  • hahaha, well said. here i come!

  • You mean a camera made for people who want to champion themselves as slightly less moronic than the HVX bunch.

It's sad you need the camera to be complex in order for others to consider what you do is skill.

Sounds like you're afraid of competition from the HVX community. Or can we agree to just celebrate the process of motion picture making in general for all who want to be involved.

  • Who said you need a camera in order to show that you have skill? A shot is a shot. A light is a light. I can point my hi8 camera at a landscape and still accomplish the same thing. I am completely with you on celebrating the process of motion picture making. What makes the Red, HVX, EX-1, 35mm adapters, so great is that they are affordable to the masses. We no longer have excuses.

  • I just wanted to let all you red fans know that it's amazing. I'm waiting on mine to come in But what I wanted to say is DON'T buy their glass! I did a camera test with them a couple months ago and had 3 cameras side by side with 3 different pieces of glass. We tested the Red glass, Sigma glass, and Nikor Glass. I will tell you right now that the sigma glass is identical. Buy the Nikon ring mount and pay $1k-2k for each piece of Sigma instead of 20K for theirs.

  • I was wondering about that, thanks! I'm a canon DSLR shooter and I'd love to be able to buy the Scarlet 3K when it's released and use my existing Canon glass on it, and still get good results.

  • You won't be able to. Red has always said it would be a fixed lens :(

  • Well that sucks. What a waste of time! I guess I won't bother with it after all. Thanks for the heads up!

  • Don't rule it out so fast. It's going to be an amazing little camera..

  • I'm sure it will be, but if I can't change lenses I'm not really interested.

  • the freeway shot at 1:08 is gorgeous!

  • yeah that made my jaw drop

  • Your camera angles are amazing. I'm about to get a Red One, and I will strive for your talents. MORE MORE MORE!

  • Angles and crops are so much to the shot, enough cannot be said about their importance to the scene.

  • it's not wise to put red demo on youtube because of a shit-youtube-quality, but that doesnt mean you can conmpare it to HV30 or HVX, that would be silly.

  • I'm not sure what your comment means but if you check out the INFO, you can download a higher HD version if you'd like.

  • i dont see wuts so great about this camera, you get the same if not less results in a consumer hd handycam.

  • shhhh, don't let the fanboys hear! But seriously, it has a little more latitude than a prosumer handycam, and wads more res when in 4k mode. At 2k it has been said it has less than 720p resolution, so then it would be on par with the hv30.

  • ummmm I have a HVX200 and I get better results then this. I seen a lot of red footage and think its overhyped.

  • i own a hvx200 as well and I dont think it even compares to look the Red One can give with proper lenses.

  • do you even know what you're talking about? the red one shoots to a RAW format which has way more latitude than any prosumer handycam out there. And 2k = 2000 lines of resolution... wtf is this less than 720 bs?

  • 2k is approximately 2000 lines of horizontal resolution. The vertical resolution is approximately 100 line in the most common shooting mode. However, bayer interpolation inhibits it from recording that actual amount of detail. RED accepts this, and that's why there's a 4k mode on the camera.

  • do you guys think 3k (scarlett) will be a much bigger difference from this camera?

  • haha yeah sure...

  • I am actually saving up for a Scarlet. Should be awesome.

  • PURE AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!

  • Please add your Red One Footage to:

    RedOneFilms(dot)com

  • wow..looks amazing!

I cant wait..I just put down my deposit...shit Im drooling

  • very nice

they go for about 17 to 18,000 bucks

  • Thats just for the body, you still have to buy the 5 thousand dollar lenses.

  • thats crazy

  • It is but look at that footage, its amazing for a "consumer" camera.

  • Now now, this is no consumer camera, if only even due to its price.

  • lol consumer camera at 17k, are you a moron?

  • sarcasm.....

  • no consumer camera has the ability to use different lenses and shoots to a RAW format.

  • what do you think the RED is? Scarlet isn't going to be consumer camera? C'mon.

  • though, philip glass makes everything look that much better. ;)

  • Very nice camera, I wish I would have one of these...

  • dont forget that the cammera needs accesories and it could easily add up to 45k if not more. before getting all excited about the cost, get a calculator and sum the price of all the required accesories and then you'll have the true cost of this cammera.

  • True, but this is the case with all cameras.

  • i did think about selling a kidney to get one

  • OMG! tell me about it. How many checks you think we can get from the sperm donor bank to mean @ 25k . get one of these bad boys ?

  • I actually tried to talk my girl into selling her eggs. I was all like "if shit got messed up...well, we should adopt anyways." Yeah, so I didn't get my camera. Wait till the Scarlet comes out, I'm cooking up a much better line!

  • this video is amazing. I would give my own left lung if I could get one of these cameras.
