This riddem is also known under the name "Pain" from Brigadeer Jerry. It's familliar to answer, just the first copple a notes are played in a different way.
this was filmed in Jack rubys garden in Ocho rios, you could hear his sound play all over the area....The yanks down the road at the sheraton hotel didn't have a clue what was going on
@midimaster naw i think he's playing something on jah guidance.. tubby's version is slightly different. i have peter ranking on jah guidance that's using EXACT same instrumental being played.
btw i could just loop 2:03 and watch it all day long. it's mesmerizing!! thanks for posting man.. good music regardless of what it is
Easy nuh Icho Candy could sing trust! Jamaica had so much talent some artist just never buss! Can remember the Deep Roots series on Channel 4 in the UK early 80's. One of the best series about reggae muzik. Jack Ruby my best sound system from the 80's. Bless up!
He is still around and still singing, what an amazing voice he had singing on this video, this is one of my fav clips of jamaican film eva, always loved this bit.
Icho recently did some dub plates for someone in JA i saw it on video somewhere. I spoke with the guy who filmed him.
Just wish we had more material from Icho Candy, what a star.....

The song he's playing is:
"King Tubbys - Answer The Dub"
:D
midimaster 4 years ago
It's the Answer riddim, for sure and very similar to that Tubby's cut.. Probably a dub plate mix, though.

I think also there is another mix by King Tubby and the Roots Radics called "King Stereo Gav Dub"

that is a simple sound effects machine made of 4 stings... back in the day's Jack Ruby Sound was the only sound to use it...

does anyone know what he's using to do the 'laser zap' effects? Is that an old Simmons machine?
