  • Hey this pedal sounds so cool, I didn't even know that you could make a bass sound just like a synthesiser of such a high quality just by using a pedal like this. Sounds awesome! I do have a question about the octave part of the pedal though. I have heard octave pedals before and I'm not sure if I like them because I thought an octave pedal could make your E string sound like it was tuned down to D, but there's two sounds coming out at once. Is it possible to set it so that it produces 1 sound?

  • @SDRockman When you program the pedal using the software, you can mix three octave layers however you want. So, for example, you could set it so that you only hear one octave below the pitch you're playing, but you don't hear any of the dry sound.

  • 5:12 + Dude I hope your Bongo didn't eat da floor :)

  • @pufifa Haha! No it didn't! :)

  • my question would be, can you have settings for both the synth and octaver at the same time?

  • @spamystyle No, this is not possible.

  • @MarkbassAmps

I suppose if I ran it through another octaver, I might get something like that. I'm getting one anyway!

  • When can we expect these to be released with MIDI? There are so many pedals out there that I would buy ASAP if only they had MIDI... I want this so bad but it's not good for my MIDI rig :(

  • @guyshocks MIDI is kind of a different animal altogether... you would need a MIDI pickup for that, and if you have that, then you have access to the whole world of MIDI gear, which is of course huge. There are a zillion MIDI sound modules out there. This pedal is really designed for bassists who don't have a MIDI pickup, but want to create synth sounds!

  • this might seem like a really redundant question but... can this b plugged in2 a synth triggering a basic sine wave or a bass sample??? i'm lookin 4 badass bass pedals 2 run thru my synths.... but only using the synth as a basic trigger and gettin the character of the sound from the pedal NOT the synth itself....

  • @premidlifecrisis No, you need a MIDI pickup on your bass in order to use MIDI to trigger other sounds and samples. This pedal is designed for those who don't have a MIDI pickup.

  • It looks amazing, I'm sold. What kind of waveforms can you choose from in the software?

  • awesome, sounds great but is also untamed too so it feels like a real instrument .

  • What if I do a 10-note slide on a fretless bass... will it track the pitch all the time, or jump from note to note? How's the tracking speed on lower notes on a 5-string, 'cause I had issues with other equipment in the past. Sounds fantastic though!

  • so basically this pedal uses my bass only for triggering the synth?

doe that mean it wont make a difference if i play a musicman stingray thru it or a rick 4001 except for dry signal?

  • @elefantkaputt That's correct!

  • @MarkbassAmps okay then i was wondering how anyone could possibly produce these sounds by just using some distortion of the original signal^^

  • This sounds and looks good, especially with the connectivity.

One thing that I would really want in this sort of effect box would be the ability to attach an expression pedal.

I think that sweeping filters and etc real-time is an essential, essential feature to produce depth and quality using synth sounds.

  • these soulectro beats are free on mee: kickthecan.bandcamp.com

  • Got this pedal last week, it's not bad at all.

Has a bit of a problem tracking notes at high speed on a fretless in the lower register, and the octave +1 is practically inaudible, but this could be down to 1. my incredibly messy playing and 2. me slowly becoming deaf :)

    Ps. a low B with the octave -1 and -2 frightens cats. :D :D

  • Peter! I'm really loving the mark bass stuff. Tony from Die Mannequin showed me his Markbass head, it's pretty awesome and then in my hunt for bass synths I found this! It looks Amazing! I'm having trouble finding dealers to buy from though... Is this something I could order from a shop in Toronto, like Steve's or L & M? Online it will cost me an extra $40 in shipping... the cash be a little tight right now. Any ideas out there?

  • @APrimitiveEvolution You should be able to order one through L&M or Cosmo in Toronto... if you need more info on ordering contact our Canadian distributor (info at erikson music.com) Enjoy!

  • That's pretty bomb

  • Shame this is approx £250-£300! Its so awesome xD

Got to borrow one and it was beyond epic!

  • what will happen if I play chord with this pedal?

  • @xhibitionism ... it can only track one note at a time, but if you have some dry sound mixed in with the synth sound, you will hear synth on one note and dry bass on the others. So although it's not possible to control which note is tracked by the synth, you don't end up with a mess.

  • Preset 9 sound haunting... I want this in my arsenal

  • Okay - like it - bought one -but it will not connect to my Macbook Pro.

I have the SYNTH/OCTAVER Tab up, all connections good, tried bypass on and off but it simply will not connect to my computer?! I've downloaded the software several times the interface in on the screen and I can control the knobs but can't DO any editing.

    Is there Help out there?

    Gary

  • @wormie18 Markbass is a brand of Parsek srl, which is an independent company in Italy. Our other brands are DV Mark, Markaudio and Markacoustic.

  • Wow that is exactly what I've been looking for! Very very cool!

  • the only presets tht sound usuable r the string orchestra/fade in type stuff and the octaves

  • @PINGPONGDYNASTY That's subjective of course... which is why the pedal comes with software so you can change the presets to whatever sounds are perfect for you!

  • Are you canadian?

  • @simon4tw I am Canadian... Markbass is an Italian company.

  • This makes me want to go listen to old 8-bit game soundtracks

  • propably the best bass synth out there but the best way to get synth sounds is to hook a midi pickup up onto your bass and use a real synth^^

  • This thing sounds GREAT in person. Go put your hands on one!

  • This is like the best parts of a Deep Impact (great tone from a digital pedal, multiple presets as opposed a bunch of knobs and a "On/Off" switch), the ability for "deep modification" via you computer...

...and they also decided "Hey, what this also needs is an E-H MicroPog's Octave abilities as well"! Me likely!!

  • Propably doesnt work on Mac...

It doesnt say anyway, even on their site.

  • @ehodrom Yes, of course it's PC or Mac. We will specify this on the site to avoid any confusion.

  • First listen @ 3:10

  • ha you look like the guy from "I LOVE YOU, MAN"

    good demo man

  • @zut25

    he slappa da bass mon

  • why not do a direct recoding so we can really hear what is going on.

  • @1dogtomany Next time for sure. These were my first product videos.

  • les claypool would drool over this pedal haha
