  • 2:21 De Niro has a scary laugh (he does the same laugh in the cinema scene in Cape Fear)

  • DeNiro's best performance in my opinion - even Scorsese said he thought this was his best when asked what he thought DeNiro's best performance was.

  • @Kenman22 - brilliant. yea one of his best. Ive recently put up a review of the film, please check it out at my channel, and see what else there may take your fancy.

  • Heh ... Inside Rupert's head ... It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't wanna live there.

  • Deniro's best performance after Taxi Driver... In my opinion..

  • @DonRMB - yea - its a master piece

  • and of course, rupert's mom's voice was Scorsese's mother. RIP

  • Anyone who doesnt get this film..i cant relate too

  • one of the most obscure DeNiro characters and this is also an great underrated film.

  • @noiseadicted - yes it is - great film - theres a review coming soon to my channel - please check it out and see what other stuff you may find

  • "Mooo-oooom! Pleeease stop calling me!" LOL!

The quintessential guy who never left home.

  • This might objectively be the greatest film ever. At least in the top 25. I believe this has the best acting from DeNiro he has ever done. Also, this movie is not only funny but is one of those "intelligent movies" that contains a lot of philosophy, deep meaning, and insight for those who have the eyes to see. But most people do not have the "eyes to see" therefore it is very under-appreciated, while ironically most of the big popular movies are the ones which don't deserve the respect they get.

  • The King of Acting. And this is an eksampel. Great everything. Also one of Edward Nortons favorit movies.

  • Favourite scene from my favourite movie. Just outstanding.

  • This is such a great film and it hardly ever gets a mention.

  • moooooooooooooooooom

  • 1:15 : )

  • "Delores..that was my fathers name" LOL

  • I don't know. I think Jake LaMotta might have been his best role, but I think that De Niro's role here is definitely his most disturbing.

  • @Sstizzle333 I don't know. A lot of people say that, But I find this character thoroughly joyful to watch, too. I personally think De Niro's most disturbing role is as Max Cady in Scorsese's (Big surprise there) Cape Fear.

When I watched that film as a kid, I was scared for weeks because of that performance. Even today when I watch that film I cringe whenever I hear that southern accent chew away at the control and sanity of ALL the other characters.

  • Greatest actor of all time.

  • ITS IMPOSSIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!

  • if jim norton ever gets a chance to meet robert deniro he should tell him "by the way I really appreciate you meeting me for lunch"

no matter what time it is or what they are doing there

  • This is the same actor who played Travis Bickle, Vito Corleone, and Jake LaMotta. It's just insane to comprehend that.

  • This is a freaky movie. Disturbing. To say the least.

  • De Niro is mind blowing. Certainly very under rated as a film.. great watch!

  • amazing scene

  • I have never seen a movie so funny and disturbing at the same time.

  • One of most underrated films of DeNiro's and Scorsese's!

  • dolores that was my father's name?

  • The way that Jerry says "the pressure, the ratings" and snaps his knuckles nervously, I love this scene and this film!

  • I love 0:38

    "You're starting again"

The expression on his face is priceless.

  • MOM... PLEASE STOP CALLING ME!

  • The mother's voice is played by Scorsese's mother.

  • A film that is both funny and poignant. One of Scorsese's finest achievements.

  • 1:51

    My favorite O&A sound clip.

  • 1:22 LMFAO

  • I love how his Mother invades the fantasy world

  • one problem ... he made you bigger

  • You're a tough man, Rupe.

  • omg this is one of roberts greatest movies he,s ever done this movie is 1 ov the funniest films around .this bit is funny mom stop callin me lol funni mun

  • What a freak! One of the great underrated films. A lot of people dont get the humor in it but its s o funny and dark. The guy is insane and deluded.Thats one of my favourite scenes in it.

  • Moooommmm! Please stop calling me! O and A PARTY ROCK

  • "What are friends for Jerry?"

  • MMMMAAAAAAA!

  • Outstanding movie! One of DeNiro's best the same goes for Scorsese. Jerry Lewis is fantastic as well. He just nailed the exhaustion of being a comedian and the pressure to always be "funny" or "on" for everyone.

  • damn whats so werid is that I do this myself sometimes only I pretend im a professional wrestler in the 80s

  • this has to be the most psychotic role De Niro ever played, and thats saying something

  • Very under-rated film, and tour-de-force performances by the three leads.

Among Di Niro's best, possibly his best work.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • "Delores, that was my fathers' name". hah

  • awesome movie, except for the skinny fugly crazy chick that runs around wearing nothing but panties and a bra....

    eeeeshhh...!!!

  • You're starting up again lol.

  • can't believe how great he IS

  • What a fantastic, creepy, performance by Mr. DeNiro.

  • De Niro is the greatest.

  • Why is he so brilliant?

  • Love how Rupert's mother interrupts his fantasy world:

Rupert, Rupert who you talking to?

    Maaaaaa!!!

    What is it?

    Pleeeeeease stop calling me!

  • One of my all time favorite movies

    great scene imagining being famous

  • This is one of my favorite movies. Probably one of the best American dark comedies ever made.

  • I love this movie, one of DeNiro's best performances, even Marty agrees. This movie did not get the publicity it deserved. The woman yelling at Rupert is Marty's mother or sister, can't remember. Jerry Lewis was also sensational, Johnny Carson was originally offered the role but turned it down because he didn't want to give anyone any ideas. Can't forget Sandra Bernard, equally as good as the rest. Fantastic movie!

  • Absolutely!

  • That laugh he does at the end is priceless.

  • such an under appreciated film.

  • definitely de niro's most under-rated characters and i think in his own right rupert pupkin is up there with travis bickle and jake la motta.

  • Im so glad to hear that u guys appreciate this role. Defo one of his best!

  • hilarious movie like- kinda v creepy as well esp this bit- glimpse into pubkins head lol

i like the bit when he's being chased by the security guards in the office haha

  • One of Denior's best! A definite classic water cooler flick

  • This is amazing! Cheers to YOU Robert Deniro, for having the forsight and understanding to take on this amazing role!

  • This film is absolutely great !!

  • Personally, I feel this movie is the closest representation of Jerry's real off-screen persona. If he knew that while shooting it...I don't know.

  • I love Jerry, but I prefer him like the litle clown in his old movies...

  • This flick belongs right up there with Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Casino, GoodFellas, etc. DeNiro can do comedy and this proves it.

  • IMDB reports that in the scene where Rupert crashes Jerry's weekend home, De Niro deliberately riled up Lewis by using anti-Semitic slurs. Lewis had never worked with method actors, didn't know that De Niro was only doing this in character and gave a very credible, livid performance.

  • great film

  • most underrated scorsese film, it deserves to be recognized in his top echelon of films, with raging bull, taxi driver, goodfellas, meanstreets. its that good, and its only gotten more relevant as the years go on

  • @johnnondrowsyd I cant agree more, as a Huge Scorsese fan, i feel this is such a good film and Denero is just amazing especially in this scene you really get a creepy feeling of how sick this guy is.

  • @johnnondrowsyd Kenneth Anger and Bill Landis were my dates to see RAGING BULL and I still think that movie is terrible. This one, however, was brilliant, and I saw it when it came out. Angelo Pastormerlo was my date, check me out in MODERN WOMEN under Lisa Baumgardner.

  • everything about this is soooo perfect

  • Dear an., Everything soooo perfect... . How then, would you label Mr. Pupkin's condition? Narcissistic Personality Disorder; Narcissistic Rage; Paranoid Schizoid Position; Psychotic; Sociopath. . What say you? Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • Why ask anamanaguchi such an agressive, provocative question?

Was it just to be a dick?

Was it to show him you know more about psychology than him?

Was it so you can feel better about yourself?

If you are such an expert then maybe you'd better describe your own psychological condition... Clearly there are some issues there.

  • "Mom please, stop calling me". haha

  • could you please upload the scene with Rupert and Rita having a meal, and the guy sat behind Rupert is mocking rupert ? I love that scene, it's so funny !

In this scene here, it makes me laugh when he says' maaaa, pleeeaaassee stop calling me ! ' .Lol.

  • imo the best marty movie. yeah i said it.

  • De Niro 1 of the greatest, especially with Scorsese directing it!

  • "To Delores who sensed greatness"

  • Mind blowingly brilliant. I love this film.

  • This is a gem of a movie. I had a couple of friends who used to recreat scenes from this movie at parties. PLEASE POST MORE. MAAAAA. Hillarious.

  • It's always wonderful to see Jerry, he's a brilliant actor, and so handsome, no matter how old he gets. He has me intriged about this movie, but I wonder if he is his comic self at all, or is about De Niro and his funnies? If anyone has seen this movie can you please comment.

  • In reply to pammy1971's question. Jerry has a serious part in the movie. In fact he's sort of an asshole. But how can he be funny with Pupkin stalking him througout the movie. Jerry has his funny moments too but this is a dark comedy.

  • Its all about De Niro's self obsessed search for fame with delusions of grandeur. Which when i saw this in 2001 for the first time. I thought hey thats me! Your Q was a year ago so this was it. It's always wonderful to see Jerry, he's a brilliant actor, and so handsome, no matter how old he gets. He has me intriged about this movie, but I wonder if he is his comic self at all, or is about De Niro and his funnies? If anyone has seen this movie can you please comment
