  • Maybe you could keep bobey in your room, and keep the other kitties outside in the rest of the house. That way he can sort of calm down and be comfortable, and the other kitties cant pick on him.

  • Years ago when my gran was alive she used to swear by hot bread poltices for her legs when she had sores. What it does is draw out the inflamation. You put the bread in a bowl and pour on hot water then wrap it up in a bandage and sit it on the affected area, obviously with the cat you will need to tie it on somehow but it works if you can get him to let you do it whatever you do GOOD LUCK xxxxxxxxx

  • never had a dishwasher do you feel sorry for me lol :0)

    xxxJoolsxxx

  • i would if didn't spend 2 years being the only person to do dishes in a house of 5 adults!

  • lol :0)

  • For the constipation a small drop of mineral oil will help.

  • In the past, when my husband and I have wanted to persuade our cats not to do something, we just squirt them with a water-gun from a distance. They have clawed our leather couches and eaten the sides of our wood blinds from our bay windows and attacked our basset-hound (he's old and lets himself be bullied LOL). But we've always given them a quick (COLD) spritz and eventually they knock it off. Good luck!

  • I just picked up some of the apples you were talking about when I was at the grocery store and then came home and saw this video. I haven't had a chance to eat one yet but I could smell them across the fruit section and knew I had to get them. There was a sign by them that said something about them being a new apple this season or maybe last season so that's probably why no one's heard of them.

  • i just looked it up out of curiosity. honeycrisps were actually first made in 1974 and released in 1991. i say made because they're a crossbreed. in 2006 it was made the state fruit of minnesota, interestingly delicious!

  • Learn something new every day. : ]

I should tell my Kroger next time I'm in that they're spreading lies!

I meant to leave a second comment earlier about kitty related issues but lost the page then forgot what I was doing...We've never had the ganging up issue, but then again we've only had 2 cats at once for maybe a year, but my old kitty Snowball used to get out and get into fights with neighbor hood cats and wind up with abscesses all the time....

  • (pt 2)

I know it sounds gross, but I always remember my mom trying to push the puss out of the wound, if he didn't put up a fight about it, to get it to heal faster and we never had a problem with any of his wounds developing into something worse or not healing properly.

Your kitties will be in my prayers for a quick resolution to conflict....it's no fun when your babies are at war.

  • I love this make-up look, if you don't have a tutorial (I will check) you should think about doing it. I've noticed that just spraying water is a great deterrent for bad cat behaviors, they get super indignant. Also, besides shopping around for vet costs, humane society clinics might be the place to go. My local humane society has given me awesome deals on flea meds and such. They want you to be able to maintain healthy pets instead of abandoning them. Good luck.

  • i'm making the tutorial today, so it should be up sometime this evening. :)

thanks for the info. i'm going to check out the humane society to see what their cost for shots are. don't worry, i'd never ever ever abandon one of my cats! they always come first.

  • thats awesome that he is feeling better thats a really good sign just keep an eye on him and if he gets a fever take him to a vet right away.

  • yes :) i think he had a slight fever on monday night, but definitely doesn't have one now. i'm so relieved that he seems to be getting better pretty fast. i was sooo worried on monday and tuesday.

  • its a good thing that the absess was opened and the puss came out it lets it heal. my friends cat had one and the vet actually told her to reopen the woound daily and let it drain?so the infection can get out of the body

  • right right! yeah, we opened it again yesterday and it drained a bit more. nothing has come out of it so far today and it's looking A LOT better. i put a video up on my new cat channel, the username is kittyc0rner, if you're interested in seeing bobey and the wound. he's feeling and looking so much better today!

  • haha awesome that i didn't realize i was logged in the kitty account already!

  • Hey girl! I love honey crisp apples! They are the best apples EVER! And I will say this, you are looking so good! You looked refreshed and glowy! LOL If that makes any sense. As for the cats, you can spray them with the water bottle and not put anything in it. That worked for me. I never put anything in it and it did work. So yeah, I hope the cat thing gets better! I am sure it will though.

  • honeycrisp apples!! :D

  • for the constpation part for your cat you can try three things, metamucil, pumpkin (most cats like it) or hairball treatment u give them by mouth. you can mix the metamucil with there food and if u get the regular kind without flavor or whatever ur cats will never taste it and u can mix the pumpkin with there food or give it to them plain. it all depends on the cat

  • oh thank you for the info. i'll remember that for the future if it happens again. thankfully, he did a little business yesterday and had a normal one this morning, so i think that is worked out.

  • And finally... if this only started when you moved, is there anything in the house that could be causing it? Or perhaps something in the neighborhood. Could the bullies be trying to mark their space and if so, perhaps there's something you can do so they do that a different way. Look out for spraying, marking etc. Hope that all helps, just some random thoughts that I hope will help you! It is so hard with cats, they're so complex - we have 7!! Let me know how you get on!

  • my cats are all indoor only cats. i think it's a jealousy issue, which is going to take some time to work out, but i know it will. it's just super stressful trying to get the kinks worked out!

  • Another thing is to have enough litter boxes and spread them out. I've read that 1 per cat plus one is good (we just have one per cat). If you get new ones show the bullied cat where they are and set an area aside where he can escape to and rest (keep the others out). I know it's stressful but there's info around and plenty of things to try, hang in there and hopefully it'll work out. I'd definitely get the potential abscess looked at though in case of infection - can a charity help?

  • yeah, we have 1 litterbox per cat and they're all in different rooms.

an abscess is an infection. i did a lot of research on it and am glad that i was doing exactly what they recommend to do. we're keeping a close eye on him, he's doing very well and healing pretty quickly already.

  • There's some good cat books by Vicky Halls - might help. We've had slight bullying issues which we dealt with by spraying the aggressive cats with water (just water) and saying no when they did anything wrong. We also made sure that if a cat was being possessive of an area that we moved it out of the area. We also kinda made them spend time together so there was no avoidance and therefore the bullying cat didn't get into a victim habit. Somehow it all worked! Good luck, it can be resolved!

  • thanks for the advice, i'm going to see if any of the local libraries have her books. i know it can be resolved, i just wish it would happen faster, you know? i'm going to let bobey get well and then start trying to put them together again. i don't want to stress him out while he's still wounded and maybe slow down his healing.

  • That is so sad about your cat :( I have had four cats in my life time and I absolutely love them. I wish I could give you advice but I dont really have any except to either talk to your vet or sell your other two cats which you shouldn't have to do that

  • it'll work out somehow, someway. i'd never get rid of a kitty, this is their forever home.

  • I wish you the best of luck with the Jenna. I dont blame you. I would never get rid of cats either because we bond with them and we love them :D

  • I think you should consider finding a new loving home for your cat that is getting bullied. I know it is hard but you need to make sure your little baby is having a good quality of life. I know it sounds harsh but sometimes we need to stop thinking about what we want to happen and look at the reality of the situation and do what is best for the animal. Even if it is hard.

  • what is best for the animal is for him to stay in the home he's lived in his entire life. this bullying has only started the past two weeks out of his three years of life. bullying can be fixed, a broken heart can not. that's why a lot of people shouldn't have pets. they just give them away when things get hard.

  • Sorry.. I wasn't trying to come across rude. Honestly! But I think a lot of the time people are very selfish when it comes to there pets. People should alway do what is best for the animal instead of what is best for them. And a cat who is terrified in there own home is not a happy cat. I wish you and your cat all the best.

  • he isn't terrified of his home. i think it's more selfish to throw a cat away instead of working to make things better. giving a pet away should be a last resort. even then, it's horribly stressful on the animal. i've had cats for my entire life, A LOT of cats.

  • I buy all my food at Trader Joes! I freaking love that store and omg your red lipstick looks beautiful

  • trader joe's is the best! thank you, it's style minx lipglass from the heatherette collection.

  • I've been raving about Honey Crisps for MONTHS! I should have tweeted about it! They are seriously the BEST apples I've ever had, no joke.

  • YES! you should have tweeted about it, so that i wouldn't have gone so long without knowing about their deliciousness!

  • Sorry 'bout your kitties :-( I hope it all works out well.

Oh, and Honeycrisp apples are CRACK!!! My hubby likes sweet apples, but I like Granny Smiths and we were trying to find a nice in between apple that we would both like and we stumbled across some honeycrisps and those are the only ones we'll buy now! They're so crisp and crunchy and just the perfect mix of sweet and tart, I have some in the fridge, I think I'm gonna have to eat one right now, as I'm typing my mouth is starting to water!

  • honeycrisps are the best best best! my favorite apple previously was the pink lady. these blow pink ladies out of the water! they're so juicy, crisp and the perfect balance of sweet and tart. mmm! i think i need to go eat my last one right now and then force my fiance to get me more! :D

  • I would try just water without the peppers. that is kind of extreme. I also like the clapping or we like tsss with out mouth I can't explain it but it scares the cats a little and makes them forget about the fighting. Just teach them if they be mean to the other cats then something happens because that is how cats work. If you're consistent with it then it will teach them if they are mean to the other cat then they get sprayed or they hear a clap or something.

  • they are kind of immune to the water, because we've used it in the past so much. loud sounds don't work at all. their evil glare never wavers. i think my cats have become demonic!

yeah, that's the idea of scruffing/smacking nose/saying no. it doesn't seem to be working, but i guess it could take a few weeks for them to learn it.

  • If that doesn't help I would keep the one being picked on seperate for a good month, (no interraction) then reintroduce him to the other 2 all over again. Only let him out with the other while they can be supervised. Once u see everyone is acting back to normal then he can stay out permanently.

  • yeah, i already have him separated from the other two. it's so sad, because he gets excited when i open the door and wants to go out. then he sees one of the other two and cowers back. poor little thing. :( and by little, i mean he's huge and has 5-6lbs on the other cats! he should be the bully!

  • Ugh...I understand. My cat Poopsie is the friendliest lil guy...wouldn't hurt a fly (literally). I would get sooooo angry & frustrated @ Gabriel (the bully). Poopsie has nails & Gabe doesn't & he'd still get his ass kicked. It broke my <3.

  • omg bobey has claws and the others don't either! they should be the ones kicking ass!

  • how hard would it have been to keep this comment to yourself then? thumbs down!

  • This is so rude! Really???

  • There is a product called Feliway. U can find it @ petco. They sell it as a spray & a plug-in. It's suppose 2 mimic cats' pheramone which helps 2 calm them down. I have 4 cats which 1 is a bully. This has helped keep him calmer, every once in a while he picks on my cat poopsie, but it's not like it used 2 be. It also helps with inappropriate urination since that happens alot due 2 stress. I hope that helps.

  • i might have to try that as a last resort if nothing else works. it's soooo expensive though!

  • very sorry about you cats! i need to take my dog to the vet because her bones hurt like she crys when we pick her up and she cant jump up on the couch or anything, but i dont have money to take her :(

  • aww poor little girl :( is she old? might be arthritis or something similar. i hope you can find the funds to take her soon. i'm sure it's killing you to see her in pain.

  • shes 7. and yess it does, i hope we can both get funds!

  • omgomgomg

i loooove honeycrisp apples. they are the BEST ever. They are pretty hard to find around here thought.

  • they are the best!! i had never seen them before. check your stores now, they might have them, since it's apple season. i've seen them at a few different grocery stores over the past week. so so so so good!

  • I have no idea why ur cats are doing what they're doing, I think you have moved before and this hasn't happened?

the only thing i can think of is they are sorting marking their territory and the younger cat is the enemy. lol. i would spray them with water but without the pepper. i agree thats a little harsh. I no cats dnt like the smell of lemons..... lol yh thats about all of my cat knowledge there. hope it gets better

  • i think it's stemming from a jealousy issue.

this is our 7th move with them and nothing like this has ever happened before. i'm going to have to do more research and keep trying things until something works. thanks. :)

  • yay you're baack :) the new place looks great!

omg your poor cat! i've only ever had dogs so i can't give you any advice :( all i know is whatever you do it will all work out!

  • thanks! it's SO BIG compared to the old place!

yeah, it will work out, because it has to! i miss having 3 happy cats!

  • kind of ***

  • Hey:)

I used to own a cat a couple of years ago, the neighbours cat used to pick on our cat and start fights, if we(me and my family) saw the cat about to start something or fighting wed clap really loudily to distract/freak the cat and if the cat didnt go away wed spray it with water once or twice and kid of chase it away. Tbh I think it worked, took a while for the cat to get the point but maybe you could try those things, dont stop trying :)

    xxx

  • i'll never stop trying. they're all my babies and HAVE to work this out and get along eventually. noises and stuff aren't working to distract my bullies. the scruff/nose smack/NO works for a little bit, but i'm not sure if it's changing their behavior or not.

  • Another thing you can do with strawberries is make a mask for your face. It really helps if you have oily skin and/or acne. You just cut them into smallish pieces and mash them in a morter and pestle (or bowl and fork). When they are mashed into a paste, you smear it onto your face and leave it for 10 mins before washing it off. You can do it 2 or so times per week.

  • I am sorry about your cats. I don't have much advice, as I don't have any cats. Maybe the stress of moving is bringing out the worst in them? I hope your cat is OK and not seriously hurt. I hope you can figure out what is wrong. :/

    Have a lovely week!

  • he'll be ok, i'm sure. he has an abscess, which if left untreated, could be VERY dangerous and even lead to death.

  • yes, strawberries rule! i do this, only i just cut the strawberry in half and massage it in my skin and then let that sit and rinse. i don't want to waste the deliciousness that is strawberries :D it makes your skin sooooo smooth! they contain alpha-hydroxy acid.

  • I'm terribly sorry about your younger cat. I can't suggest anything to do, but I would try posting this question on the livejournal "cathealth" community. They are very helpful.

Good luck. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

  • thank you, i'll definitely look into that!

  • my heart seriously aches for your cat situation! I have 3 cats aswell and if this was happening to me i'd be very upset.. I really wish you, your fiance and your cats well!

  • doesn't something like this just make you want to hold your babies tight? thanks, i appreciate it. :)

  • Thank you so much for doing this video Jen. I miss you girls so much!!

    You look gorgeous!

    Xoxo,

    Hilary

  • :) i've been wanting to make a video for awhile, but stuff kept coming up when i wanted to do it! i'm going to try to be a little more consistent. :)

    thank you!
