If caveboy Bert pointed out to his father that cars weren't invented, it's a wonder to me why he didn't also remind him that dinosaurs had already died out.
When I was little I would hide behind the couch pillow when the dinosaur walked through. I don't think I was really scared of it, so I don't really know why, lol.
I also did the same thing whenever I saw the dinosaur walking down the street. (That dinosaur's legs looked like a Brachiosaurus's legs, and I'm sure a dinosaur's legs weren't that huge when dinosaurs were around before us humans). I also wasn't scared of the dinosaur either but, I was a little confused and/or nervous whether the dinosaur was chasing after that woman or, if the woman was just trying to get out of the dinosaur's way just so that the dinosaur wouldn't accidently squash her.
Maybe I'm just delusional, but the more I think about it, the more I think Jim Henson and Frank Oz belong up there with Laurel & Hardy and the other great comic teams. Interesting how no matter what big time Hollywood movie they'd be working on, they'd always come home to Sesame Street. This is another good example of their working rapport. My favourite moment is just before Bert gives his speech about how cars haven't been invented yet, he moves slowly closer to Ernie, eyebrows raised.
I have this on an episode of Sesame Street that I taped! I really like the intro 2 this (when the announcer/storyteller says it): "CAVEEEEEMAN DAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYSSSSSSSS!!!" I also like the part when Bert asks Ernie this: "Aga waga". That means "Why not?" LOL! Thanx 4 posting this!
AHA! Bert and Ernie were holding hands at the end! I better go tell Fred Phelps! XD Okay, in all seriousness, I loved the caveman talk. It was one joke stretched out for too long, though.
Wow, some very clever tympani player (probably the incredible percussionist Danny Epstein once again) drums out the "Sesame Street" theme at the beginning of this sketch. I never noticed that before! Peace.
I was sitting in my Dads van and there wasnt cable so all I could watch was the news, golf, and Sesame Street. So I watched Sesame Street and I saw the episode of this where they had drums!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I was watching Sesame Street the other day just to see what my kid has in store for him, and it's not bad but it can't hold a candle to this. Priceless!
Oh man. I've been waiting for quite a while for someone to post this one. "Aga-waga-waga-maga-haga!" HA HA HA. I remember that particular exchange so well.
I've also been waiting for someone to post this one too. Ernie was right at 2:06 that, that dinosaur was very big but, I think it was scary for kids to be seeing a dinosaur chasing someone which could give kids bad dreams. I used to be scared of seeing that dinosaur chasing that woman when I was very young, since mostly I didn't know what kind of dinosaur it was (whether it was a carnivore or not since it's face wasn't shown) and I was surprised to see a dinosaur with huge legs and body.
"Somebody might be driving to work and we wouldn't want to cross the street against traffic." -- So true about street safety.
But sometimes cars stop when they see people standing on the sidewalk who are want to cross the street and the driver can let 'em cross by giving a hand signal so they can cross the street.

Oh So in this Episode Ernie is the leader & he has more common sense than Bert. It's ususally the opposite.

This is what Kids need these days.
Funny puppets subliminaly teaching them how to cross roads safely.
Not the random, brainless, slush thats on these days. Or the complete opposite which is more upfront, educational and patronising.

Does Sesame Street ever address how Bert and Ernie met each other and subsequently moved in with each other?

Was that Howard Stern running from the dinosaur?

The woman running away from the dinosaur looks like a long-haired Chrissy from the Monotones.

This Ernie & Bert skit is marvelous. It reminds me of the movies "One Million Years B.C" & "The Lost World" that 20th Century Fox made.

Jerry Nelson or Marty Robinson narrating?
jeffkahl 3 years ago 2
Marty. During the eighties, he and Jerry tended to share the role of announcer.

Ernie playing the father, and Bert playing the baby? That's odd, but funny nonetheless!
