It's unlikely that she just 'happened' to catch a throat infection or just get a sore throat.

Amy Lee is talented but she pushes her voice much too hard, which becomes extremely evident in live performances.

She puts her vocal chords through a lot of pressure and it hurts them.

I'm not saying I'm better, nor that I could come close, but I have had classical training and I can both see and hear that she's not using her voice in a harmless way.
