  • Jake Harper.

  • this song was written about his time in the group asia, written about himself

  • @balancepiston , uh, no, you are wrong.

  • when did Greg Lake turn into John Goodman ???? dude, enough cheesecake

  • he was a lucky man

  • He's old here, but I love ELP in the 70's.

  • @Toetinger , you can see fine art hanging on the walls in some museum but great music hangs forever in your heart.

  • Greg Lake will always be one of the greateat singers I have ever heard perform.

god bless Emerson Lake and Palmer!!!!!!!

  • Did any 1 note Keith E. playing rythumn gat. as the guest female did synthesizer?

  • wow we are all growing old how different from the still you turn me on vid from 74

  • @mikeandsid2000 Don't forget - this video is over 16 years old, too.

  • @mikeandsid2000 didn't he write this at the age of 12 also???

  • @pmarie57 Yep. 12.

  • I nominate this videographer for the "I Have Never Touched a Guitar or Any Stringed Instrument" Hall of Shame.

So poorly filmed it's entertaining! The guitar solo is the epitome of clueless, showing the right hand picking the strings...but never the left hand on the frets.

    That takes years to learn.

  • @pr3egl I second that motion!

  • emerson lake and plamer is way better lol then his version ....................

  • emerson lake and plamer is way better lol then his version

  • Still some of the old magic there in both voice and hair department. Cant quite hit high notes he used to but - Hey! - neither can I ! And atleast he's kept the luxuriant hair colour (unless he's using Grecian two thousand). Whoever;s on keyboards tries to play Keith's famous solo virtually note for note (which is a great tribute) - inspite of Kieth not being happy with it orginally. Dont think that's Carl Palmer on Dustbin lids either!

  • I think we all now know the answer to the perennial question, "who ate all the pies?" LOL

  • I will always love him and his music.

  • ♥♥♥♥♥

  • seen him @the californa jam ,still has the emotion

  • "Made possible by hippo's"

    nice.

  • Tony's gonna be happy about that. His sponsorship long outlived the original broadcast.

  • His voice isn't going to sound the same as when he was younger...His voice has matured....He still can sing...just more manly now.

  • he doesn't look healthy, probably had a hard life.

    still he's beautiful to me.

  • I agree.....so beautiful.

  • I saw him live and he was HUGE! I couldn't believe how big he was. He started sing with King Crimson when he was 18 or 19 and he's seen and done alot to his body. Such a talented man though.

  • @cougarcatgirl

    He's just older.

He never got into the drug thing

  • maravilha de musica

  • u ppl are crazy he sounds fine and he plays this song different almost every time i hear it (live)

  • ELP still fucking rules. He voice still rules. Tell me how you sound when you were 20 and then your 45 or 50? Not the same. But stil great you, you stupid fuck kir3txsbcglobalnet

  • Ciggs my ass, you a-holes will age one day and lose much more than your voice fools. WAKE UP!

  • You musta bumped your head. His voice sounds just fine. Listen at 1:00 thru 1:05 and tell me he doesnt sound good.

  • hey, he can sing it however the hell he wants to!

  • its sad to hear how greg lake lost his voice over the past 20 years of the concert. his use of cigarettes led him to lose his wonderful singing voice.

  • Who is/was sarah and what is/ was Greg Lake's interest in suppoting missing/exploited children?

  • Greg wrote a song called "Daddy" after seeing a news story about a girl (Sara Ann Wood) from NY State who was abducted and killed by a guy from Massachusetts. Her dad started a foundation in her name, which this concert benefited, but I don't know if that foundation is still around so I put the next best thing to donate to in the comments.

That reminds me, I should probably upload a video of him doing that song.

  • too many ciggis, but it was worth I guess

  • YOU GUYS FING ROCK

  • Comment removed

  • awesome to see that he did not abandone his faithful Hummingbird Gibson after 30 odd years...

  • That's not a Hummingbird. It's a J-200

  • You are correct....wish I had one of each though.....look great and sound awesome.

  • His voice sounds wonderful after all these years. I was a little shocked seeing him now though.

  • Well, this was 15 years ago so...

  • Hah, if you are thus shocked, just WAIT till you go to a high school reunion! ;-) Proof of a life well lived is in one's soul, and he's got one!

  • Damn, but we all get old. He sure was a cutie when he was a youngin' tho ;o)

  • Niezapomniany głos od King Crimson po ELP

  • He was so gorgeous when he was younger - he can still sing. Fabulous.

  • @Lonestarry ---Oh yeah......!!! He was HOT>HOT>HOT way back then!!!

  • I like it!!! Great song!!!

  • I like the way his voice has deepened with age. He sounds as good or better than the original!

  • I prefered the live version where he sang with his guitar alone, but this one with the synth solo at the end is just great.

  • I like the studio version best as he's picking the strings, noi strumming, tho' it's a great song no matter how played.

  • Why is it lame? That's like me saying, "I THINK YOU'RE UGLY AND STUPID," but I really have nothing to back that up. So, give me your opinion on why it's lame, no biased comments, just a straight out opinion of why. Then I'll stop bothering you because I'll have understood why. If you can't do that, then you're the one who is lame, my friend.

  • I heard that Greg Lake actually wrote this song when he was 12 years old. When they were working on ELP's debut album, they needed 1 more song to complete the album. After some self deliberation, Greg said "Well, I have this song I wrote a long time ago but it's not really good". He played it, on the album it went, and became one of their most popular songs. Can you imagine? Can anyone verify if this is accurate? I know sometimes radio dj's like to imbellish.

  • Sounds about right - I've heard that, too.

  • I heard that years ago as well. Love the story. SImilar to Paul McCartney and Love me do. I think he was 14 when he wrote it.

  • Holy cow! 12 years old?! If he wasn't gifted from the womb, then I don't know who is! Still has a beautiful voice...This brings back so many fond memories.

  • All Greg haters can kiss my ass. Let's see how many records you sold over your years.

  • lady on moog/sound-cool, watch out keith-ha!

    greg was just RELAXED

  • Can totally relate to "Russian".Huggs man.

  • And starring the living embodiment of 1974 on drums.

  • So true. I also like the bored looking guitarist chewing gum throughout. I was in the audience for this. great show.

  • Bums me out to even watch this. ELP was the first band to explode my brains out at age 14 when I tried desperately to play along with their albums.

  • Come on...He's 110 years old and still out there plugging. Besides, when I hear a current rendition of this tune, I hear it like it was the 70's again. Mario - you out there??? Civ??

You can't always expect it to sound like the original, even the old live performances.

At least he doesn't sound like Meat Loaf. As much as I loved him in the late 70's, he should not be singing now because he can't hit the money notes.

  • LAzy vocal on a great tune!

  • Greg is outstanding and has a unique voice, but he's being lazy with his singing in this performance. He's way too choppy - cutting the notes short. It's like he's wanting to be done and outta there. Compare it to some of the other vids on YouTube.

  • Whoa, he let himself go

  • Not too bad - he goes up and down - do a google image search or to his website. How many of us look like we did in 1974? It's not like he ate Emerson and Palmer!

  • AMEN

  • Greg had a great voice....fantastic band ELP

  • greg HAS an awesome voice, always has, always will!!

  • Awesome synth solo at the end...great copy of the original Moog sound created by Keith Emerson!

  • I totally agree. That was a good band he put together. I think his website lists the personnel for this concert.
