  • Ask almost any songwriter, this is a consensus one of the greatest songs ever written.

  • great song ...great artist !

  • I knew Glen was a studio guitarist for the Byrds, the Beach Boys, the Monkees, etc. Now I can see why - he is really good, even on his pre-dementia tour - still better than most all the current grammy winners. I especially liked this song, Wichita Lineman - still have the vinyl 45.

  • Still hits those notes, pretty cool performance

  • Damn...Glen stills sounds great! No wonder the Beach Boys and every other major act used

    Glen i th 1960s and 1970s

  • I just LOVE LOVE LOVE him. He's such a rock solid good man! I cry every time I hear this. He's doing just fine! God Bless Glen Campbell!

  • thank you for posting this song its a sunday morning song , love it

  • glen cambell is a bad mofo. got it ! love this song. unlike me it never gets old.

  • I think thats Jack White on the Silvertone guitar...

  • Excellent riff twists ... the legend can still play quality guitar and still a good voice.

  • I had the honor of playing acoustic guitar on the demo track of this song when it was first written by Jimmy Webb back around 1968-69. It always was and still is a great

    favorite of mine.

  • @drharmonica That's great! I'd like to read more about that...

  • I love this song... I always have. This man is such an inspiration. Thank you for posting this wonderful video !

  • BOOYA!

  • What a brilliant star! He also played along side John Wayne in "True Grit", doing a great job as the Texas ranger. I watched his TV show when I was a kid!

  • Awesome probably his best performance i this song I have heard, and His Ghost On The Canvas CD is one of his best also! I agree with Inkey2 Many modern stars could learn a lesson or two from this "Old Man"..who is an inspiration even in his dimmer hours now!

  • now today what can you say about this let him play his music and for all to respect it makes sure god is with him.

  • yes

  • You know he was friends with Elvis Presley ---- Glen Campbell's last record -- music video has a pic of him and Elvis

  • what an absolutely beautiful song,,never heard it before,,i actually think i will listen to this from time to time for the rest of my life.... really touching and melancholic song

  • he is still cute

  • "And I need you more than want you and I need you for all time". If you ever climbed a pole in the dead of winter or when the sun was just coming up you can never understand the feeling you get when you provide continuity to a line. Glen Campbell embodies the soul of the lineman of the vision Jimmy Webb must have found in such solemn nobility. Watching the sun rise or set while you dangle from eternities breath such is the bliss a line man feels when the wind dies down and he one with the line

  • @Deaconblue2u what i think Ive been drinking too much or you talk jibberish.

  • Damn, that's fantastic. This guy defines "raw talent".

  • I never knew Glen Campbell was such an accomplished guitarist. I knew he could strum an acoustic guitar back when he had the 'Sunshine Hour' television show back in the late 60s/early 70s but I never knew he could play lead. What a revelation after all of these years! What a legend! - saved a lot of American lives in Vietnam; helping to keep many of the boys sane while singing his songs, so far away from home.

  • Wow, Glen Campbell is one of the ALL TIME GREATS ! Was and still is... Glen your voice is better then ever !

  • How can anybody "dislike" this? Must have been Tanya Tucker's brother

  • I'm a brother about to turn 50 this weekend, and I've always kind of dug Glen Campbell, but I never realized what a fuckin awesome guitarist he is, even still today! I did know he did some session work with the Beach Boys....

  • I can't really add much to the other comments - just wish it hadn't taken me over twenty years to get around to discovering this guy (not to mention Jimmy Webb's other work).

What gets me is that he isn't just going through the motions as some people of his age tend to do; Campbell very obviously loves performing (and I get the impression that he enjoys playing this song), you just have to watch his body-language. And what a voice!

  • wonderful tune. wonderful artist. my mother and i went through the trials of alzheimers. an insidious affliction. we see the teleprompter to cue the lyrics for glen but when he plays his guitar he needs no direction. he is the only player i know of that got a decent tone out of the lace sensor pickups and ovation guitars. good luck to glen and his family. you rock glen.

  • @CAPTAINQUINN Well said - there is no way you can put that good a guitar part on a teleprompter. I saw him live recently in Guildford (UK) and he put on a stellar performance.

  • i remember back in the days when tanya tucker would ride the camel.

  • Love all those Fender valve amps!!

  • there are a lot of major stars in the music business now that absolutely suck compared to him even as an old man

  • Adding to my Comment below, I wonder if we are in a Matrix.

  • Glen Cambell is one of the greatest musicians/angels anywhere. He is so beautiful. This song, reminds me of the Matrix somehow, as if someone calling on the wire to all of us! Not to give up hope, we've tapped into the Matrix. And we're going to get you out!

  • OH MY GOD! WTF! I thought Glen was just a good singer, on his hits and with the Beach Boys....but he absolutely SHREDS IT on the solo, that was just spine-tingling. Even more amazing when you consider how his health is now. What an amazing man. Just WOW. One of the best things I've ever seen because I've loved that song since I was a kid. WOW again :-D

  • @DannyWhitten I saw him on a PBS show doing this tune and thought the same thing. I realize he's been around and a session player for some of the best as well as his own hits but when I saw him do his solo I though the same thing. Geeezu this guy really can play the ass off his geeetar! lol! I really have a new respect for him I must say.

  • @Johnnywhamo Been around awhile as a session player, indeed! His session parts took a "back seat" when his solo career took off around '69,or so,w/some solo spots in between.Catch him on his "farewell" tour,if you still can.He is a major celebrity of music, always:)

  • The truest of true grit...

  • LMAO!! WOWW!! That was really great!!! WOOHOO!! I'm so glad he played. The older version of this he relied on the over produced backgrounds. This one shows what he can do. Amazing how good his voice still is.

  • Heard this song on public radio a few weeks back. Luckily I had my iPhone to tag the song title and artist. Only today did I look it up on youtube and remembered how great that song was when I heard it the first time. And found many versions on youtube but this IS the best. I don't look like who you would think would love this song but I do. I am glad that he is still rockin that great sound and I had to applaud that extra guitar strumming in there. Great job Glen.

  • i like the stone temple pilots version better

  • @bigmouthpiece1. Never Mind, I Know a cure for that.

  • AM Radio.... I awoke every morning to this song, in the 60's.... My AM Clock radio.

Forever imprinted on my soul.... Thank you Glen!

  • There's a reason he was *the* go-to guitar picker in Nashville, LA and New York in the '60s, and that solo is one of them.

  • This is a great post. Glen is still the man on guitar - wonderful solo at 1:50.

  • Fucking amazing video man. Thanks!

  • beautiful solo in the middle, really stretched out. Hope and pray for this special talent

  • still on the line with that electric guitar picking solo

  • Love you Glen!! And this song still makes me tingle....

  • A true legend!

  • Wow.

  • one more new single.... before you retire IM sure it make it the top ten thank you for all the great music through the years W Golden

  • what a come back better than than the orignal.....

  • I really love this video! Thank you so much for this.

  • He's the 7th son of a 7th son. Maybe that explains his greatness....

  • I always get the goosebumps hearing him sing this song. It is timeless from when he was young 2 old.

  • Always loved Glen's music, but this performance at this stage of his life is incredible! The crispness of his guitar is amazing!

  • The Eric Clapton of Country Music!!!!!!

  • Having just returned from seeing Glen and his young family perform tonight at St Davids Hall - Cardiff... What can I say... Glen your a legend... Thank You for the Music from the tunes on my Dad's 8 Track in the 70's to the sounds on my iPod today... God Bless You.... Mike :)

  • Something so magical about this performance. It's one of those times where he just has it. Just out of this world for him to have the magic here.

  • I was born in 73 and pretty much grew up listening to Glen!! 72 years old during this and still he never ceases to AMAZE!!!

  • @hemirt Just listened this after the original song of the 60´s, he nails this as he did back then!

I might even say that he has more power in his voice here!!

  • Wow, what a great performance!! Glen is such a terrific tallent . Keep in mind that he was well into his seventies here. He is such a outstanding guitar player and singer.

  • God bless you Glen Campbell for all the great years

  • This is "real" quality music that stands the test of time! It will still sound fresh in another 30 years.

  • What aGreat Performer!

  • Listen to this for quality all you youngsters. Yes, he really is playing that guitar and singing too. Simon Cowell FUCK OFF.

  • He is like wine, the oldest the better.Thanx for this great video.

  • Beautiful: I, Hope Glen emerges from His issues now with some otherworldly Talent of His. He, deserves so much . I believe He, somehow Will ..Believe .

  • Glen is 72 years old when this was recorded . absolutely the best.

  • Such a smooth voice ............even then. He makes the guitar sing.

  • Fantastic song

  • I had a little 4 track tape player as a kid with Glenn Cambbell songs on it. I would listen to it in bed every night. This was my favorite.

  • effortless for such a talent :)

  • Playing here like I remember him in 1965 in his brothers home in Texas when I would go here to learn form him. One of the best players ever period!

  • What a hauntingly beautiful song. Never fails to inspire that feeling when I hear Mr. Campbell do what he does so well.

  • Man, GC is badass. Period.

  • Glen your voice is ageless your guitar playing is inspiring and shows the many years of skill you acquired along the path of your career. This Song will forever haunt my soul and your voice will forever echo in my heart as you embody the soul of the lone lineman working as the Setting sun goes down. Know your music will always brighten the lives of all who love what you gave us though out your career, this song will always remain my favorite. God Bless you Glen know your in my prayers!

  • Thankyou for all kind comments! I totally agree this one of Glen's greatest performances!

  • Great - just great

  • Grew up watching his show on Sunday nights, loved him then and now. Saw the interview on the web and it made me sad to think he wont remember who he is, who his wife is or his career. They have to find a cure for this crazy thing that robs people of the knowledge of their lives...Wichita Lineman lives forever in our hearts and minds...love to Glen Campbell!

  • The man is a hero, and still after all these years makes my heart flutter. My fav song will always be Wichita Lineman, what a love song!! No one can sing it as good as Glen. Handsome still at his age. Love you always. Smitten middleaged lady from Ireland.

  • Just awesome~

  • It's sad that he has alzheimer's, and won't be long until his career is gone, as his memories will be gone, too. I will remember him for years after he forgets! I tip my hat to ya, Glen! You're a class act!!

  • What an awesome guitar player at 70-something. Just watched the ABCNEWS Nightline piece on Glen. What a great career this man has had. I like lots of different types of music. From metal, to classical, to country, to pop. This was such a great performance of this great and classic song. Bravo! Bravo!

  • Without a doubt one of the premier guitarist of the 20th century. Thanks for adding this video. America wouldn't dare put a show on like Jools Holland's show. Best music show ever in HD. Great job to the Brits!

  • God bless the man. He has sold over 45 million albums and won so many awards. Good on him. I wish him well in his fight against Alzheimers.......

  • Phenomenal

  • Poor man. My prayers go out to him while he is suffering the effects of Alzheimers.
