I heard this on the internet a while ago - there is something quite hypnotic about this music. I must have heard it first as a teenager - that's where it takes me to. I've been trying to remember what album it was from - i can remember playing it over and over again - or was it a single (which is what i think it was) ---i would imagine it was 1969/1970 as i'm sure it was pre- My Sweet Lord. Very calming - is this what George often referred to as a Mantra?? Lovely Guy - taught me alot about life!

To my knowledge these were all existing chants sung by Hare Krishnas, and Harrison composed, arranged and produced the instrumental music to go along with the chants.

The back cover of the original Radha Krsna Temple album reads :

"All titles published by Harrisongs, Ltd except side 1 track 1 and side 2 track 2, Apple Publishing, Ltd."

Govinda was side 1 track 1. Who knows what happened when Apple was dissolved, but I'd imagine it went to Harrison.

Maybe the ISKCON temples have signed a special deal with Harrison at the request of Srila P. Maybe it's only the temples that are allowed to use the song during their morning ceremonies. My question is about using the song in a documentary film. If I filmed one such ISKCON morning ceremony that included this song, and the song was heard while the people in the temple chanted and danced to its tune - can I keep that song in the film for free? If not, who holds the copyrights?

I bought the album on vinyl for $3 back in the late 70s. I've never seen it offered on Ebay, though plenty of other Apple LPs are up for auction. I was happy to see it was part of the set Apple just released on CD.
