This move works best when a guy is right up on you from the catch of the ball. You can actually use the step to put your leg behind his and your ahead of him on the way to the hoop. Jordan used this all the time on guys like Dumars and such. Its actually great for guys that are faster than you.

Yes for the jumpshot it's usually good to leave the ground with both feet at the same time.

When you're going for a layup (say right), you usually want to jump off of the foot opposite of your shooting hand. Right handed layups = jumping off your left foot.

Of course you can also take off with both feet for more power.

When you pick up your dribble you can only step with 1 foot. The other foot is the pivot foot because that all you can to with that foot

if you start dribling. and you stop wirh both feet at the same time. you can choose what you pivot foot is. once you have moved the other one, you can't change you pivot foot anymore.

you can (and have to :p) lift both feet to make the jumpshot.
