  • have you ever met/jammed with Mark? would you want to?

  • @vanwagke Yes I have met him a few times although I don't think he would make the connection between me and my videos - No I have not jammed with him but would if I got the call. Thanks

  • Nice Job on all your Vids... Just a curiosity, having played many years my self, the height and angle of your snare, your left thigh just above the knee must hurt like a mother f------ You hit your thigh as you hit your snare every time.... Great Job, Don Brewer has always been one of my favorites

  • @Stickgeneral524 I know - totally bad habit but I don't think I'm gonna change at this point. It feels comfortable and doesn't really bother me.

  • WAY good, all the way around!

  • @kwgthacher Thank you

  • dadadadaaaaa....fantatastic !!!! can watch and listen to this over and over and over....;)

  • VERY COOL MEN

  • @RriverJJ Thanks

  • Et Pluribus Funk...the best álbum...

bem lokooo!!! voce toca muito bem!

    Cúem - Brasil

  • @stoned66neves Yes I agree - Thanks NY

  • Yeah, he's working his ass off........

  • Amazing everytime I watch this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Whitevaliantwarrior - I'm glad you saw it more than once - :)

  • Awsome, bro! I was watching Walk Like A Man and wondering how well you would pull this off!! It used to kick my ass as a teen but it's been quite a long while... Great job!

  • muy buena la idea , ademàs el muchacho suena muy bièn. felicidades.

  • @SuperPluribus Thanks!

  • Terrific drumming!!!!!! I grew up playing guitar to GFR - Mark's guitar lick in this song was one of my "challenges" as a 14 yo guitarist in training. Clearly you know this song by heart - kudos to you. Now, if only todays "musicians" would come up with something half as funky and developed as GFR (or any of the great 70's rock bands).

  • very nice daddio!!!......rock-n-roll forever!!

  • Nicely done...and great taste in music!

  • WHOA! What an exciting performance! One of the best songs of all time... no doubt about!

Please see and rate our videos, my friend...we'd appreciate!

  • WHOA!

  • The fact that you picked this song is enough to impress me, let alone the fact that you aced it.

  • Kick Ass!! I'm a big Don Brewer fan. Great job man!

  • Damn fine job!! I agree about the magic of Brewes triplets in this tune, and you covered it magically.

  • holy s**t!!! wicked playing! you could have replaced Brewer and no-one would have noticed!!! My favourite GF album! I still play it often to this very day! Just one awesome band! The Vietnam era created some great bands and music!! Foot-stompin Music and Let's stop the War!!! They on your covers? lemme see....... :)

  • Hey dude.....your cover it 's just fucking amazing.....!!!!!!

Grand Funk, great band, great song and great drum playing....!!!!

  • I'M WITHOUT WORDS !! YOU RULEZ !!

  • @cjorata Thanks - but the song rules!

  • This is the first time I caught TheDrumChannel and what did I see? Drumming to GFR. OMG! Fantastic. You are incredible! Thanks for posting this. I truly enjoyed it.

    It made my evening!!

  • Don is so under rated. Great job on the tune!

  • Great song. Perfect cover! Your awesome. I've always loved this song. It should be done live at ever GFR show. Only after Upsetter though, of course. ;)

  • holy effing crap --- this is amazing!! as a teenager, i sat in my basment bedroom for years playing guitar along to GFR (and others), and only now do i realize how great their music, and musicianship, was. Wish I hadn't gotten rid of the 69 Les Paul Custom tho :-( The drums are spot on - 5 stars - 10 stars, whatever the highest rating on the chart is.

  • Well done indeed!

  • Awesome job man!!!! You are really good!!! Hope you are with group that appreciates you!!!!!

  • Oh man, that was KILLER! Wow!!!

  • well done!

  • @peacewolfwm Thank you

  • This is REALLY good. You clearly worked very hard in study and in practice. I think it's down to a T. The sound quality is excellent; the drums are clearly understood, and YOU are heard. I also very much liked that the bass drum is seen in the top left corner. Outstanding job. Excellent. For what it's worth, I'm totally impressed, and I'm very hard to impress. Fantastic job.

  • @different1able Glad I was able to impress you. I think this is one of Don's top drumming songs from GFR. Love the fact that he was only about 24 when this was done. Grreat job and I'm glad to see he is still out there playing (and alive)

  • Great playing. You never missed a lick. I play drums and was always blown away by Brewers playing on this one. Perfection in his triplets and he was only about 21 about this time. Whenever I get into a music conversation about GFR, I always point out they were putting out the music they did and they were just kids.

  • @hopper1227 Yes - I agree - not too many 21 year olds puting this kind of stuff out there today - eeh? Thanks so much for the comment

  • Outstanding Sir!!!

  • @jhnstn1 Thank you

  • GREAT JOB! GREAT SONG! GREAT BAND! GREAT DRUMMING !

  • @TheJetfighter666 Thanks, Yes , Yes, and Thanks.

  • @TheDrumChannel Are you in a band? I got about 40 songs and I'm pretty good on guitar. I'm 54 but look 39. I made records in the 80's and 90's. I need to play again!!

  • @TheDrumChannel With a drummer like you and your great taste in bands, I couldn't lose !

  • Wow!...

    Just...

    wow!

    hats off squire!!

  • @jackslostsanity Glad you enjoyed it.

  • exelente maestro!!!

  • Do you have some more like this??

Please send me the links..... Bravo man!!!

  • @americcianisti There are plenty of links on my channel for GFR tunes Thanks

  • Grandioso!!

  • great job! With a great GFR song!

  • @kwgthacher - Yes one of their better jams for sure - thanks

  • OH YEAH. You nailed it bro. It's good to see someone else play that old school stuff. I love it.

  • @boomwhap843 Rock from the soul - Thanks man

  • Great job....on the money

  • @CINDYLUVSMIKEY99

Thanks - what a great jam.

  • I live im São Paulo-Brasil and my english 's very poor, i like to much your work, you're a very, very good drummer...congratularions!

I know Grand funk's work since 1971, since Et Pluribus Funk...(the best album)...

    Don't stop "amigo"...

    Cesar-Cúem

  • What's really awesome is, all single stroke and single pedal. Old school, baby.

  • @dmcalp5530

Yup that's who I learned from. That's why it's so easy to play. Thanks

  • You´re hired. Come to Mexico right away.

  • @zzzzzzzz594

    OK be right there!

  • Find a Mel and Mark and you are ready to hit the road man!

  • @webman1956

Easier said than done. Let me know if you know of any. Would love to start here on YT.

  • Hey its "Water on the Brain" or WotB as he is known on other pages. Well friends he may have tastes that concur with your own but he trolls about other music pages he doesn't like leaving derogatory & toxic comments; a bit like a musical Osama bin Laden. Watch he doesn't depress you with his negativity. My best to all, excepting WotB, naturally!!

  • @possibly46

There are not too many people out there that can depress me with just words alone. Thanks

  • Sorry to trouble your sensibilities fella (if I ub=nderstand your comment correctly).

If you had more context about who WotB is and understood what he is doing to my sensibilities and others, you might be more empathetic to my point of view. In view of the fact that you don't have this context, my personal apologies to you.

  • I agree, this is 1 of my favorite G F R tunes also...how I wish they had a good dvd of them on the market...my favorite 3 drummers in no specific order are ..John Bonham..Keith Moon..Don Brewer. You are a great drummer ..will subscribe.

  • @chevydaze

Thanks so much - You have good musical taste when it comes to the drummers you liste. I would have to agree with you on that one.

  • Oh, you make me happy. Seeing you solo drum, nice play, good sound. Hope to see you play another grand funk's song, more and more.

  • @thannithi1

    Many more coming!! Thanks

  • Absolutely AWESOME job to my favorite Funk tune!!!

  • @jazzbo89 - Thanks - Would love to do one with you.

  • Thanks - I love playing Don Brewers songs. It's funny - anytime someone talks about triplets, John Bonhams name always comes up. I think Bonham is great in his own way but Donnie was the master of triplets at age 21. Just check out the first album - such an under-rated band.

  • six stars from germany :)

  • Thanks so much - I'm glad you liked it.

  • You are a Killer Drummer Dude..Rock On

  • Thanks man - I'll be posting more shortly.

  • Malucooo vc toca muito, eu já assisti esse vídeo milhões de vezes...

Nossa...Et Pluribus Funk é o Sgt. Peppers do Grand Funk...

    lokoooo!!!!

  • that was totally awesome 10/10

  • Thanks - I appreciate it.

  • Thanks for posting. I'm glad I stumbled over this one. Musta played this song a few hundred times but never realized the drums were so busy. Great job!

  • Glad you liked it - thanks so much!

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!! Lmao, great!!!

  • Well done!! I really wanted to play like you when I was a child! I enjoy it your performance a lot!

  • Thanks - don't give up - your not dead yet! Buy a kit and start jammin! More to come -please subscribe.

  • Bravissimo!!!

  • Good job, man. You've got Brewer down lick for lick. A pleasure to watch.

  • I been listening to GFR since i was a lil kid. Being from Michigan and having older brothers it was almost mandatory listening! They were trailblazers in every sense of the word, and Im still amazed how a small 3 piece band from Flint could conquer the world...I love your work on the drums and this vid ive added to one of my favorites, awesome job man!!!

  • You are/were in the same boat as me. Had brothers that grew up on this stuff and I guess it rubbed off on me as well. As a matter of fact I was just listening to this song when you wrote the comment! Thanks again. 2010 is gonna be a good year for posting!

  • Mel and Don destroy on this tune.

  • Agreed - they totally rip up the bass and drums like I've never heard before or since.

  • Im no drummer but Ive watched this vid about 30 times. What a jam! Man your talented. Im 41 and only have gotten into GFR for the last year. I was turned onto them by an older guy at work and was blown away being a Zep fan I didnt think anyone could touch them. How wrong I was. These guys are the real deal. Ive been trying to have everyone I know listen to them when ever I have can. GFR isnt even mentioned when you talk about rock history. Don, Mel and Mark deserve to be recognized .

  • Watch some of the documentary vids on You Tube. These guys got the shaft on many different angles but they knew how to rock! Did you really watch this 30 times? I'm flattered! I don't think I've watched it 30 times!!! It is a great tune though - it's got a little bit of everything.

  • Im not even sure if their in the Rock Hall of fame, obviously they should be, but hey it's in Cleveland.. Im sure maddonna, maria Carey and Celine Dion will get in before they do.

  • It's a shame - such a great band and to be shafted their whole career on so many levels.

  • Awsome job!

  • KICK FUCKING ASS!! Great job! I was air drumming while watching HAH. Keep it up nice work! Its great to see good music being played right.

  • Thanks man - Don Brewer was so under-rated but he def. kicked ass. Thanks

  • To my ear, didn't miss a lick. Looked like you were enjoying yourself as much as I was enjoying watching and listening. Thanks.

  • I'm glad you took the time to comment on these videos - thanks a lot. This is one of their best songs in my opinion

  • Had this album growing up and E Plurbis Funk ranks at the top of Mark,Don and Mel's best musical work. Its brilliant high energy rock with alot of soul deep inside !

  • It's got a little bit of everything in there. I'm not sure why they never played this live too much. Your comment is very accurate.

    Thanks

  • Always loved the way Mel and Don knocked this one out!!

  • Me too - I've never really heard a bass and drum jam like that - from 23 year old kids!

  • super!super!super!!!!!!

  • Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

  • Ummmm.... I've never seen anything like it. I was always told Neil Peart was the top dog, but TheDrumChannel and Don Brewer have made me change my mind. It's a three way tie I think. Awesome !!!

  • Thanks Don Brewer is the real leader in my book. For a guy who was about 22 yrs old at the time, he has so many good riffs and structure to his playing. Peart is good too but live doesn't come close to the amount of energy of Don has. Thanks again

  • Did you say that you wrote a book?

  • No - just a figure of speech.

  • Yeah. I knew that. I guess I wasn't thinking at the time.

  • Hey I just looked in the Dictionary and I saw a picture of you next to the definition of Cool !!!

  • Great job man. Is there any benefit not having a bottom head on the mounted toms. Your set sounds great.

  • Yes - one less skin to replace! - Thanks - I've had this set since 81

  • I also use my bare foot

  • Great !!!! really , u made my day ;)

  • I'm glad you liked it. Don Brewer was one of my favorites!

  • No drum lessons 07676067. Either you can play or you can`t.

  • are you willing to give lessons

  • Great job great video I love the drum & bass solo. you rock !!!! r you in Fl?

  • No - NY - thanks for the kind words

  • WOOOOAH 11

  • SICK, SICK,SICK!!!!!!!!!!! WAY OFF THE HOOK. PROPS....No one seems to have a desire to play with that kind of precision today. ..and certainly not wi
