U.S. Rescues More Iranians at Sea

What I don't understand is when we supposedly have 200 years of oil capped off on the North slope of Alaska (crude oil bay) as told to us by Lindsey Williams from our strike in 1976, why would we insist on all the expense of transporting oil when we have it on our own shores? Is it because we don't own Alaska, and indeed it belongs to Arabia?

not sure how the West-East pipeline is a competition for the North-South pipeline. Their target consumers are different. Iran's gas would head to Pakistan and India, while Caspian Sea gas is heading to the ocean for export to global markets.

I doubt this is a practical plan. Pakistanis would blow up part of the pipe heading into India. Egyptian terrorists constantly blow up gas pipelines heading towards Jordan, their supposed friends. My guess is Israel will be the point of gas for part of India's needs when their gas field goes online in 2013.

So, Iran is planning to build a pipeline to reach Pakistan and India. China wants a pipeline into Pakistan as well. Both want to AVOID the shipping lanes altogether. So the Trans-Afghanistan pipeline the U.S. wants to build from the Caspian Basin to the coast of Pakistan means competition. - they must have war in the area at any costs so as to impede this from occurring, secure the area, then move forward for the Pipeline.
