I've always read this as him saying that the ultimate revenge isn't to die in your enemy's name (which could ruin their lives through guilt & police charges), but to outlive them, to watch them become weak and die.
It isn't fighting your enemy, and in a lot of ways that's better; no one can punish you for smiling at a dying person, or at his funeral, and imagine their torment at being completely helpless as you watch.
Interesting. Correct me if I misunderstand, but his message appears to be speaking against suicide by saying that it is better to fight one's enemy instead of letting it drive them to surrender?
Or maybe I'm reading it too deeply. Love Voltaire, anyway. ^^
@777Mystik I doubt there's just one meaning to his song, as I doubt there's just one meaning to all his songs, your interpretation could be just as right as what the guy below me get's from this.
seconding the coment below you, this music perfectly sounds like a message "you tried to kill me, but I survived, and I'll live enough to see YOU die before me"
Is it wrong that I feel like dancing around my ex-girlfriend in big circles, singing this song, and banging on a tambourine?

seems most like the setting of a trap and then grinning at the aftermath to me, laughing at your enemy's falling for it etc, etc...
