@LastExile08 2 years late to this reply, but Dio isn't dead, confirmed as of the first episode of SEASON two of the new anime :D check it out, it's super incredible.
The Guilt, Delphine and Dio deserve a better end, and also Alex. Dephine, so powerful, strangled and death after 10 seconds without a monologue from Alex, who finally had his revenge? And what about Dio, fallen out from the avanship?? I thought that the end of the Guilt would be a majestic end, but it has been a very rush and irrespective end. :/ very disappointing

The rest of the people are on the same planet without the nasty weather and winter that separated the 2 countries when Exile was first there. Exile lifted the weather away and left the land more habitable for everyone.
@garvoi Kindof funny how if you look at the ending, apparently Exile's coccoon was the same shape as the planet itself, oddly enough... and apparently the planet was a bunch of strips of land in that "hourglass" or "peanut" shape (as I like to call it) ... which would actually explain the shape of the chart of the Grand Stream now that I think of it... its incredible how they animated this, it must've taken forever, I'm attempting to start an animated series of my own, but just watching this series made me realize the work I'm agreeing to do and the money, but no other series will amaze me the same way this show did.

The overall ending was satisfying, Alex and Luciola died the heroic deaths they deserved, however I wish Dio had a more heroic death, I was beginning to actually like him. I mean, come on! Falling out of a vanship in the middle of mental hysteria!

@TheGreatDragonValoo Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that Dio was supposed to be in the last episode, but they never got around to putting him in there at the very end showing he survived, sadly... confusing many a people.
