  • Of course not, but the fact is, and the point she was making is that the vast majority of the herd don't nearly comprehend the dire situation they're in, so they have to be spoonfed, and without making them feel stupid. College professors don't teach doctoral classes to freshmen. What we're dealing with are 8th graders, but 8th graders are the resource we have to work with. Raw material that needs to be polished. Polish away, until eventually they're up to speed and equally pissed. Baby steps.

  • She totally took my by surprise. I had no idea who she was the whole week, I figured SilverCircle hired her as a model to work their tent. And then she said "Austrian Economics" and "Murray Rothbard-humping", and my jaw smashed into 10,000 little pieces on the floor. Who in that room, at that moment, didn't fall in love?!

  • @Maat922

I didn't. Stupidity is nothing to be proud of. Everybody who is a libertarian became one because of some writer, like Rand or Rothbard. They read someone or listen to someone and things click. They don't listen to some skirted know-it-all who pretends that her libertarian views came to her in a vacuum. What is she going to explain to them WITHOUT using arguments that she learned from others?

  • @tridentmovies

How is she going to explain the free market while thumbing her own nose at the people she learned it from? How is she going to explain why war is evil, without using arguments about all state aggression being evil that she read somewhere else first? She thumbs her nose at the people who taught her, just so she can patronize to people she thinks are too stupid. Quite frankly, had i learned about freedom from someone like her, i would have been a fucking statist.

  • @tridentmovies

Simply put, you cannot pull people into the 'freedom movement' if you simultaneously think they are too stupid to understand well-spoken people like Rothbard, for instance. If they are too stupid to get someone who doesn't talk to them like children, then they are not smart enough to 'get' freedom in the libertarian sense on a consistent level anyway. People that are too stupid will always go for the best-sounding state propaganda.

  • @tridentmovies So in other words, you're perfectly OK with alienating everyone in sight who's life until they met you revolved around Jersey Shore and NASCAR? While flying the libertarian colors? Thanks for ruining the work a lot of the rest of us have tried to accomplish by bringing people in to our community of freedom-minded people. Maybe you ARE a statist, and you just refuse to admit it to yourself.

You'll never have a job in sales or marketing where you will be successful.

  • @Maat922

You should stick to reading what i said. Why do you think it is necessary to disrespect people with brains in order to try to convince people you apparently think are too stupid to understand advanced knowledge? I don't trust "libertarians" who disrespect the people who we have to thank for what we know. It sounds like the fake libertarians who are running around mocking people like Rothbard and crawling up some neocon's ass because its more convenient for getting accepted..

  • @Maat922

I'm not looking to alienate anyone, but i'm not looking to compromise what i believe in either, by agreeing with people who maybe want the war to end but still want their benefits. You may think you're accomplishing something by accepting people's wishy washy views on liberty, which in their case is almost always based on personal preferences and not PRINCIPLED. But everyone pays lip service to liberty in one way or another.

  • @tridentmovies

So either you manage to convince them of principled liberty, or you're wasting your time, because as soon as the state has a better deal to offer them, they'll be on the wrong side again. I for one have NO INTEREST in calling anyone a "libertarian" if they are not actually libertarians, and in that way completely devalue the meaning of the word. Either way, if you think calling principled libertarians "Rothbard-humpers" is the way to go, don't expect any respect in return.

  • PREACH!

  • Well yes talking on peoples' level is all and good, but how about those who are a little more sophisticate than that? Folks who are quite obviously more sophisticated than the lady in this video.

  • @Oyaji291 Ouch.

  • I think a better way to say what she's trying to get at is when talking to people find out about THEM first. For instance, if youre at an Ozzy Osbourne concert use legalization of marijuana to lead people to libertarian ideas, however if youre posting up at a farmers market around an older more conservative group of people steer clear of this and go into the founding ideas that built the country, certainly mentioning Thomas Jefferson. This fires some people up. Just be down to earth.

  • @jokerjake3 True.

  • For people worried of a dumb down of the liberty movement, like what happened to the Tea Party this stuff can be scary. Though I do think finding common ground and not alienating people is important.. I think we should try to avoid singling people out like Alex Jones tends to; we should be clear to distinguish between bad IDEAS like Ron does, versus calling individual people scum. However a form of ostracism does have a role in this because we DO have the moral high ground; see my latest video.

  • Thanks for uploading this.

  • I do not want libertarianism to be dumbed down to the level of public discourse. I want public discourse to rise up to the level of libertarianism. And I believe this is possible, if we stick to our guns.

  • @JasonCockrellWCS So did you always know about Libertarianism? Everyone starts somewhere and if no one did not guide, advise, and/or lead you towards the opportunities that freedom gives through this movement then you would be stuck in that "dumb" phase.

  • @skooj420

So how many people do you think became libertarians because some girl talked to them "on their level"? Every libertarian i've ever spoken to, has learned it from people who talk to you like you have a brain, i.e. Rothbard, Rand, Bastiat etc. Like i said, if i had learned about freedom from a patronizing, obnoxious chick like this who mocks great thinkers yet pretends she has great things to say herself that you shouldn't "miss", i would have never been a libertarian now.

  • Would you feel accepted and want to expand your knowledge on what your life could be without restrictions from the government if the people that supported this movement degrated you....? Ponder on that and hopefully some kind of enlightenment will spark.

  • What is the youtube video mentioned around 4:10 ?
