No goal tend. Seriously, for a moment forget the players, forget the hoop, focus on the physics. The ball is clearly STILL approachin the peak of its arc, it is NOT on its descent. Good call. Was a travel earlier tho ;) And Im a huge Jordan fan. Keepin it basic and nurturing the roots. Respects.
i love that commentator. he knows every play before its gonna happen. morgan spots up for three. "oh he can do that" swish. mj gets it in the post. "now he'll jump right over you" jumps over him scores. mj posts again "see he'll jump right over you" does it again. "i think michael's getting ready for an explosion" then the rest of the video
I was a huge Portland fan at this time and I always thought this was a really good team. I can't figure out why they didn't go deep into the '93 playoffs.
Rod Strickland was INCREDIBLE off the dribble. People forget how GOOD he was. He was just never able to be on a team that featured him as the "focal point" of the offense..
1993 was also the year MJ's game started to shift from being the "High Wire" act, to the more post up & jump shooter, with an "occasional" drive to the rim for a smash..
That was a Kobe shot that MJ took from 5:05-5:08. 20+ foot pull up fadeaway under pressure. Rarely ever took that kind of shot due to shot selection and aggressiveness.
No. Jordan did come before Kobe but rarely took that type of shot. Not how he plays. Kobe takes shots like that consistently needed or not. Jordan rarely settled for anything the defense gave him.
you are saying the shot at 8:06? I have seen him use it numerous times in different games.. in 1992 here.. 1997 against the lakers i belive it was..i saw him do it against the hawks in 91.. i think.. i think he did it also against the raptors.. but only GOD knows what other games he used it on.. there is another time.. i just can't remember the game.. MJ mastered it with the shot clock pressure... where he is just stepping back and just takes the fade away over the defender..
No. Michael rearely took that type of shot due to his aggressiveness and intelligence. Attacked the basket endlessly which is what you are supposed to do. Puts pressure on the defense and causes rotations and creates for teammates. Shots like the 20 foot fadeaway are bad shots by nature. Should only be done if there is no time on the clock. Kobe does this habitually.
which is what am telling you.. I saw in a game clock situations MJ take the same shot... But you are probably right.. MJ didn't have to take those shots unless he had to..
There's no Paxson type of players in today's NBA. He is a great shooter, he helped Bulls win at least one game in every final series he played. He always know where to get the bal, and his jump shot is quick.
His left feet move a little, that's a traveling. Still a good move. I have this game in my video tape.
I remember MJ did a great fade movement in 1992-93 all-star to lose Elliot(Spurs' player), I have that video, too. I haven't seem anyone upload to youtube.
That's a great move although Elliot foul on MJ before he attempt to make that shot.
2:18 when B.J. gets his shot blocked, it reminded me of that reports during the early part of that season was that some players reported that B.J. could be a little of a ball hog and when he trying to lay it up over a '6"10 Cliff Robinson instead of passing it off to Scottie Pippen it just reminded me of that report
i remember seeing that play the free throw putback for pip by jordan and i never seen the whole game and never new he had the injured foot to go with it! thanks, GREAT POST
doug collins is annoying. he couldnt admit he was wrong on the last play when he thought it was goaltending. after seeing the replay he stills says its goaltending. doug collins acts like he knows everything but he was a shitty coach and a shitty commentator. the last play wasnt goaltending the ball was still going up. you fucking idiot doug collins
You know what? I thought the same. I actually really like Doug Collins but this time it was a little annoying cos he was trying to be too cute... I think he was maybe sick of giving Michael compliments the whole game!!
it doesnt look like a goaltend to me. i watched in slow and the ball is not in downward motion yet. i dont care if it was or not but it doesnt look like a goaltend
I remember when that story broke that MJ maybe lost for a long period of time. People were going into panic mode, but I was shocked to see him playing in that game
jordans ultimate dvd ranks that dunk on pips free throw as his #1 dunk of all time. i disagree with that. its a nice dunk but he's had MUCH better dunks in his career than that! the obvious facials over Ewing and the other nba victims, his fast breka against the Heat in 96, his fast break against the lakers in teh Finals game 5, i could go on and on. i just dont think that free throw put back is his best ever.
I think pain made Jordan focus more and that always spelled death for his opponents.

People are crazy who say MJ only developed the turn around fade away after his come back in 95-98. This game is a clinic on turn around fade aways.

Doug Collins knows the game but he needs to shut up sometimes. That last play was a clean block that MJ caught on the way up.

6:50 wasn't a travel. Just cause the dude is fast doesn't mean it's a walk.

I couldn't agree more. I bet I could find 10 highlights from a single game and make a better list.
I also have the same reaction whenever ESPN shows MJ clips - is that really the best they could find?
