@acuna13 depends, the CPU performance would likely be about the same. In highly threaded apps you might see a small increase. As far as gaming goes, what GPU do you have now? The AMD APU's blow away Intel HD3000 integrated graphics by far.
My Motherboard recently has been giving me problems and instead of looking for a replacement socket775 motherboard for my e8400 I figured it would be more practical to pick up a newer cpu/mobo/ram combo and sell the e8400 & ram for funding.
Im more of a casual gamer & Most used apps for me are, Autocad, Photoshop, and maybe a little video editing in Premiere.
This new A8-3850 along w/ an Asus F1A75-V Pro, would I see a noticeable difference in performance?
@LeoSstiSh what are the specs of your dv6 and what do you use it for. Ive been looking to purchase one but there are no reviews out there for it. Much appreciated if you replied :)
@thecam4444 15.6 inch screen, this processor, 6 gb of ram, windows 7 home premium, bluray, beats audio, hdmi, complete keyboard. i use for watching videos, playing and everything. Its very fast. The exact model its dv6 6135dx
hey, at the end of the video you said you would make a video about adding another card to boost the performance and I was wondering if you had gotten around to that yet?
@clay922 No, if you want something like that I would recommend getting a dedicated card to go along with it. I would recommend buying this chip regardless just as a base platform and then later add a dedicated card later. The graphics on the chip are good enough to play most modern games on low-medium at respectable frames.
This might sound like a stupid question as I'm new to computer components. If I overclock the cpu the way you instructed (which I assume you did in the BIOS, please correct me if I'm wrong) will the cpu fan automatically adjust to the higher temperature that the cpu has?
This quad core processor is slower then intel core i3 but it has a great integrated graphic. Now it seems to me that it's not made for gamers it's made for kids
This APU is good enough for gaming and it does support DX11 and Dual Graphics Configuration with a support of Low End Graphics Cards.... Cheap eh!?
I spotted this APU at Computer shop near my place in very affordable price about $130 But I did buy it just yet until the release of AMD Bulldozer.... oh boy....
now im confused because i dont have an apu does this mean i can put a graphics card in like an ati radeon 6990 and it will be able to use the whole card and maybe graphics processing in the back ground from the apu
@flamingarse1 if you install a vid card with this apu it will actually boost the performance of the vid card because the cpu has the gpu already on it so technically it will put your vid card in crossfire with the apu. lol
@thatgirlisflyytt well the vid card has to be an entry level video card other wise itll bottle neck the gpu in the apu and not boost the performance. but still a 15 percent boost in performance is better than nothing right?
@THExVETERAN FUCKING AWSOME to bad i dont have an ati radeon 6990 but will it work with a visiontek radeon 6950 and also can i use 2 cards in crossfire or sli while using the apu
@flamingarse1 you dont need a 6990 or 6950 lol. actually if you buy an entry level radeon like a 6500 something it will work perfectly and get the same performance like a 6950 with the apu. cause if you use anything above a 5800 or 6800 it will bottleneck the apu. i would go to tomshardware for more info.
hey im thinking of getting this cpu or apu and uh i was wondering if i should get a descrete graphics card or do that hybrid cross fire thing with an entry level card?
@henokeskinder Trust me on this, this is the kinda CPU that would be in office PC's, I would strongly reccomend you get a proper dedicated CPU, and a Graphics card seperate
@BurningArtsStudios wait so what cpu's would u recommend cuz im kind of new to building pc's i've done alot of reading on this but im just going around forums and stuff and taking polls now so if anyone else is reading this comment comment below saying ur recommended cpu. i appreciate it ^_^
@henokeskinder It depends on what your going to be using it for, i.e if your doing very intesive games then I reccomend AMD Phenom ii x4 675 (there is an x6 version but i doubt you will need it) or you can go for a dual core model if your only doing lite gaming, but I would reccomend asking forums and such, but make sure you tell them what type of games you will play :)
I like this APU, but your comparison at 5:20 with the x4 620 doesn't really make sense since it's running at a lower clock speed, so ofcourse, it will have a lower score in a cpu benchmark.
what I wonder is, will this APU be a good choice for DAW users or is it smarter to go for a beefier CPU then this Athlon II based APU? Cause that's basicly what it is. Still, very impressive product... makes it even more hard to choose hardware for a budget-minded person....
@Goliath002 you shouldn't compared this chip whit a high end cpu this is an APU which mean's it's for people that what a cheap desktop and good integrated graphic's on a single chip so they don't have to buy a video card if you wan't a high performance gaming computer then buy a cpu and a video card i suggest a AMD Phenom II X4 965 and a 6950 should max out any game for the next few year's cpu's don't matter that much whit game's it's the videocard that matter's most
@perfect1oNN On stock heatsinks, there is usually an amount of thermal paste applied on the bottom of the cooler in the box. The only exception I've seen is Intel's stock cooler for their 6 core CPUs. All of the other ones I've seen have an adequet amount of thermal paste pre-applied to the bottom of the cooler.
@ShoeDocter3000 The best graphics card you could use, with being able to run in "Hybrid Crossfire" mode, is a HD6670. Anything better and it will just use the video card and not the built in GPU on the chip.
@CaptMidn1ght From what i have been seeing around the "NET" the new AMD Bulldozer could give the Intel 980x/990x a run for there money. They are supposed to be using the same processing method the Intel chips use. That about all i know.
@SergioVeiga93 and....what about an intel i7 2600k 4cores (like the a8-3850) but at 4.8Ghz also the integrated graphics chip on its max is at 1350Mhz ;D , I love amd just not for gaming , u also say that u are building a computer what about a video card , whats ur choice ;] , I need help, not sure nvidia or ati , between 560ti and hd6950 , which one would you chose cheers

@SergioVeiga93 If you're a hardcore gamer, wait for bulldozer and throw a descent video card in there(like a 6870 or better). These APUs are for the casual gamer who doesn't want to spend money on a video card. Don't get me wrong, they will still play all the newest games at a respectable frame rate, but they won't match a rig that has the bulldozer CPU paired with a nice video card.

@SergioVeiga93 You can choose to allow it to use the onboard graphics (6550D) and swap onto your Radeon HD 6950 if you want it to, which would allow low power consumption and lower temps when the extra graphics aren't necessary, but what happens with the Dual Graphics capabilities of the Motherboards able to support this processors, is that it will use both the dedicated video card and the graphics card within the processor at the same time which will improve performance
@BarackMcBush Yeah I just found that out today when I started looking into it a little bit more, I'm kind of hoping that they open up a little bit more support within the next 6 months, that along with the fact that you can dedicate a specific amount of memory for your IGP, between 32MB and 2GB although it seems to bottle neck at 1GB, but I'm hoping for certified RAM for the processor it's self, and eventually some barebone kits for everything
does this apu fit with any motherboard?? or it needs a special 1. and does the graphic gets a boost if used with any other graphic card?like this apu and another vga card
@xthatoneguyx I'm guessing price, cooling, and noise, however I don't know the price, but it must be cheaper than a good CPU/GPU separate purchase for similar bucks.
I would personally get a core i5 with a decent Radeon, like a HD5830 or something
This APU is awsome, esp. for a HTPC or mATX build.
Runs most present games at med to high settings @ 720p no problems. Street Fighter 4 hits well over 100FPS on average, and Resident Evil 5 hits 60+FPS on average no problems too.
Some guys managed to reduce load power by over 40 watt with undervolting.
My only guess is they will be another generation of LLano later this year with drastically improved power consumption.Nothing wrong with the product 4 now but i'd rather wait t'ill they sort it out.
The ram's bottlenecking the apu.

@mexcandiesel @SergioVeiga93 , the most powerful video card that you can use is a 6670 to use duel graphics cards.

@BarackMcBush Yeah I just found that out today when I started looking into it a little bit more, I'm kind of hoping that they open up a little bit more support within the next 6 months, that along with the fact that you can dedicate a specific amount of memory for your IGP, between 32MB and 2GB although it seems to bottle neck at 1GB, but I'm hoping for certified RAM for the processor it's self, and eventually some barebone kits for everything

does this apu fit with any motherboard?? or it needs a special 1. and does the graphic gets a boost if used with any other graphic card?like this apu and another vga card
gen2sega 7 months ago
@gen2sega
You need an FM1 motherboard
DrFlaws 7 months ago
@gen2sega Yes the graphics do get a boost when used with another AMD video card. Like a hybrid crossfire.
XxGRIZZWALDxX 7 months ago
@gen2sega Every CPU requires a motherboard with the same socket.
IAmSomeoneOrOther 7 months ago
sounds like a good idea but I would rather have separate cpu and gpu

why get this chip instead of a cpu and a graphics card? like what is the best...selling point on it?
xthatoneguyx 7 months ago
@xthatoneguyx I'm guessing price, cooling, and noise, however I don't know the price, but it must be cheaper than a good CPU/GPU separate purchase for similar bucks.
I would personally get a core i5 with a decent Radeon, like a HD5830 or something

Awsome! It is a really good APU. Very good for HTPC or for a normal use small PC!
1999PANOS 7 months ago
where is the video ram? on the chip or does it use the system RAM?
tarnationstation 7 months ago
This APU is awsome, esp. for a HTPC or mATX build.
Runs most present games at med to high settings @ 720p no problems. Street Fighter 4 hits well over 100FPS on average, and Resident Evil 5 hits 60+FPS on average no problems too.

Some guys managed to reduce load power by over 40 watt with undervolting.
My only guess is they will be another generation of LLano later this year with drastically improved power consumption.Nothing wrong with the product 4 now but i'd rather wait t'ill they sort it out.
