Agreed. I would say Ford, Chrysler, GM and a huge number of business failings are related to UNIONIZATION of the workforce. I would say that the insane lending practices endorsed by the Clinton, and Bush administrations is to blame for the other problems. We can't bundle up "risk" into "tranches" and hope that they won't blow up after we sell them on Wall Street.
Unionization has been around for a pretty long time, so I don't think it's realistic to pin the businesses' recent failings on it.
Ugh, don't even get me started on those ridiculous lending practices. I wouldn't have as much of a problem with them, if not for the fact that banks that didn't take part were basically punished for it.
Unionization used to be needed to protect workers, but it has outlived it's usefulness. NBA players make 57% of all league gross revenue while the league loses $400 million this past year, GM, Chrysler losing their shirts while workers make $50 + per hour. Tulsa cops refusing to take any pay cuts at all during a recession. Unionization is killing companies.
So, what problems would be solved (and created) by dissolving unions? GM and Chrysler have also suffered for poor management choices, it's inaccurate to lay it solely on the wages of the workers (though they are overpaid).
Given the risk they encounter, I can't fault any cops for resisting pay cuts, especially given that crime rises during a recession.
Even though they're still accountable to the taxpayers and gov't-run? I like them because their concept seems to be more efficient.
American companies could be more competitive we dissolved unions. You can't manage when you can't fire people and when you are forced to give raises based on seniority and years of service.

i have dealt with the sudden death of my best friend. i have dealt with my son being born blind. my aunt has dealt with being raped. none of these instances have forced us to become insane. and none of these instances justifies murder or abortion.

However, you are not everyone, and not everyone responds the same way to stimuli like those. Also, none of those instances is really analogous to the example I gave. It's not (presumably) like your friend was killed in front of you and then you were forced to provide for the family of his killer.

I would say that the insane lending practices endorsed by the Clinton, and Bush administrations is to blame for the other problems. We can't bundle up "risk" into "tranches" and hope that they won't blow up after we sell them on Wall Street.

Unionization has been around for a pretty long time, so I don't think it's realistic to pin the businesses' recent failings on it.
Ugh, don't even get me started on those ridiculous lending practices. I wouldn't have as much of a problem with them, if not for the fact that banks that didn't take part were basically punished for it.

Unionization used to be needed to protect workers, but it has outlived it's usefulness. NBA players make 57% of all league gross revenue while the league loses $400 million this past year, GM, Chrysler losing their shirts while workers make $50 + per hour. Tulsa cops refusing to take any pay cuts at all during a recession. Unionization is killing companies.
Charter schools are great.

So, what problems would be solved (and created) by dissolving unions? GM and Chrysler have also suffered for poor management choices, it's inaccurate to lay it solely on the wages of the workers (though they are overpaid).
Given the risk they encounter, I can't fault any cops for resisting pay cuts, especially given that crime rises during a recession.
Even though they're still accountable to the taxpayers and gov't-run? I like them because their concept seems to be more efficient.

I think unwanted pregnancy, delivery and then having a baby (to smother) is a much, much worse punishment for the mistake of not using birth control in the first place than getting an abortion is. Hopefully Obama taught his daughters that oral and anal sex are the very best ways to help prevent unwanted pregnancies when you don't have a few bucks for condoms or the school nurse runs out of them (if there's even still room in the school budget for a nurse) because Republicans cut taxes again.

Self control is not equally possible for every single person. Very few are so perfectly disciplined as to always be in control of their decision-making process. Just look at the capitalization and punctuation in your own reply. You made some less than perfect choices there.
I don't define the just-fertilized egg as a "baby." I don't define the fetus as a "baby." Babies become babies at a certain point, but where is hard to say. I'm content to compromise on the point at viability.

Did you bother to listen to the rest of the speech? Or did you just take this part out of context for your little song? Obama is trying to advocate saving AT LEAST one life: the mother's. It's either a sterile medical environment, or a coat hanger. I'm not going to run out and abort, but I also understand that women will choose- no matter what bible-thumpers say. Planned Parenthood doesn't have stock. It's a non-profit organization. Anyway, he's not trying to say, "Be irresponsible and use abortion as birth control." He's trying to give women an option between medical supervision and the "home method." You can't stop abortions. You can only take away the help that women seek instead of home remedies. However, you are not everyone, and not everyone responds the same way to stimuli like those. Also, none of those instances is really analogous to the example I gave. It's not (presumably) like your friend was killed in front of you and then you were forced to provide for the family of his killer.

John McCain is not a good man anymore. He used to be above the sort of character assassination that much of the rest of the GOP would use, and he was certainly above being the one to start it. Nobody made him do what he's doing.

barack obama went to a church for 20 years without knowing what is going on? 2 options here.
1) he pretended to go to church there.
2) he did go to church there and knew what was going on.
either way, not good.
barack is potentially our next president and he has got to be candid about what went on their and with his buddies.
but i do not even care about that. he is a socialst. bad deal.

i agree that john is an honorable man. but right now it is all about marketing. people who are voting for obama do not even know who he is.
