  • love the video man

  • brilliant video

  • i enjoyed this vid

  • some sweet info here

  • some great inforamtion here thanks

  • Honestly, this program only made the evolutionary misconception worse. In this program it's like ''fish needs to crawl on land, so it grows limbs'', people who are already vague on the subject will think they are talking about 1 individual, instead of tens of thousands of years and hundreds of generations...

  • @Dracoti actually this whole doc is appaling

  • lol at rage in comments.

  • ap bio rox muh sox

  • amazing programme, just makes you think how simple evolution is :L every vertebrae follows the same basic blue print :L man, life is lazy!

  • "Transitional Forms" are all relative. Every creature that has ever lived is a transitional form. *We* are a transitional form: we don't look like our ancestors, and our descendants won't look like us.

  • @Movies4Christ Until you look at it.

  • Gish is sooo wrong. And so... so he's a christian scientist in the field of biology?

  • why waste time listening to gish

  • wow! gorilla evolving into human! did you see the pictures? one form - evolving into another! i bet Darwin'd cry if he saw what they did here... =(

and i thought it is dead sure we didn't evolve from chimps or gorillase, but that we had a common ancestor a few milion years ago. and this brief transitional forms theory. weren't the transitional forms the best that was aviable at the time? dumbasses!

  • There was only ONE transitional fossil before that? Pffffft! This show is so dumbed-down!

  • @DoctorNociceptor Can you tell me some other transition fossils? I am debating creationists on 'topix' and I need some ammo.

  • Bloody hell, you're facing a hell of a votebot attack arent you. I think the creationists have gone mental because they hate that word that keeps cropping up... EVIDENCE. The creationists cringe at the word.

  • We have a Christian vote bot. Please thumbs up, rational thinkers!

  • @MalchikBlue excuse me? I am a christian and I am fascinated with evolution and biology, it was my second choice at university behind music. don't be so narrow minded and judgemental.

  • @12JimmySmith That doesn't change the fact the video was attacked by a Christian votebot. Try not to be so sensitive, buttercup.

  • @MalchikBlue ok, sorry, how do you know?

  • @12JimmySmith ,Really ! you're a Christian trying to understand Science ...you must be a transitional Specimen !@

  • Thumbs up for Sibelius.

  • he sounds more line a creationist trying to descreditate evolution. really strange...

  • @Sebulon82 no, he is just saying that this specific theory is wrong and believes that there was another path of evolution instead of this one

  • Wow putting jewish dogma, why? What a waste, skip.

  • Christians would love another dark age. Thank "god" for the modern era.

  • Every single form is a transitional form. What they say is a bunch of bullshit. There is no clear distinction between one species and another.

  • TERRIBLE MUSIC!

  • GREAT!

  • isn't every form a transitional form?

  • @dsac6007 yes, but those are the ones that creationists make a big fuss about. Actually creationists do not know that every species is a transitional species.

  • 13000ths viewer :)

  • Don't worry Jesus will turn the creationists into fish and the can evlovle all over again. Haha.

  • So mud skippers have been crawling over land for millions of years but the ones with four legs didn't cut it.

  • Why the hell do they put a bloody Creationist in this documentary. As if they aren't doing enough intellectual terrorism with their "museums".

  • This Duane Gish sounds like a complete embarrassment to science to me.

If you know how science works and you buy into creationism, a bunch of nonsense KNOWN for it's adherents lying constantly about everything, then you're very likely just being dishonest.

  • Creationists using the lack of transitional fossils, as a weapon to discredit evolution. Do not understand that fossilization is a miracle in itself, so many things need to happen for an animal to be fossilized. Plus, geological processes and human activities in general have destroyed still futher more fossils.

Transitional species are going to be rare alive, the prospect of finding one fossilized is as common as winning the lottery!

  • Creationists are a transitional form between apes and humans.

  • Very informative. The reason why scientific knowledge changes is because of NEW DISCOVERIES. It means SCIENTISTS are more OPEN MINDED.

When these RELIGIOUS CREATIONISTS re-interpret the Bible, they become INCONSISTENT in their desperate attempt to be attuned to the MODERN TIMES.

But they are really NOT modern thinkers.

  • @HumanVersion2 I AGREE WITH YOU. Sometimes the evidence are readily abundant but CREATIONISTS still deny the truth. Natural Diamonds for example did NOT take 6,000 years but MILLIONS OF YEARS to form from DEEP UNDERNEATH.

Therefore, DIAMONDS demolished the Book of Genesis.

    TAKE THAT, CREATIONIST DIM WITS.

  • well, not a miracle...

  • lol votebot attacking this video

    because they handle the truth

  • it amazes me that man had so much education and still believes in the bible :/

  • @TheGeckoNinja YOU ARE RIGHT. Some religious people are ILLOGICAL.

    For example:

NATURAL DIAMONDS are made of carbons that got crystalised after MILLIONS of years of tremendous heat & pressure from underneath.

This proves that the Earth was NOT made in just 6 days or 6,000 years. Because natural diamonds are millions of years old, Earth must be much older.

Therefore, DIAMONDS have demolished the Book of Genesis.

  • Boo, they skipped over Pandrichthyes!

  • Duane Gish has not evolved in his thinking in 30 years. Good for him. Bad for thinking people.

  • Anal? Hehe, 50 years is prob a bit too long for one fossil.

  • @HumanVersion2 Come on, now, admit it: you love those crazy creationists as much as the rest of us. What would we watch on YouTube if not for their zany antics, eh?

  • Why is that it seems only to be (in the developed world) in the US that Creationism is taken (by a large number of people) to be a viable argument? Do people really hate Darwin so much tthat they open themselves up to such ridicule? If it was another country I'd laugh at them, but this is in the most powerful nation on earth.

  • Argghhh! Creationist makes me so angry!!!!!!!

  • They could fake one ,like obama trying to do with his inbetween birth record.

  • creationist shouldn't be allowed to vote on videos just like they shouldn't be allowed to vote in real life

  • I love the evil overlord music that comes in when they introduce Dwaine Gish

    (did I spell that right?)

  • 1:47 LOL

  • Again this dose not seem very convinceing. that things legs do not look any more primative than modern day slamanders and other such creatures. And did they not find a liveing fish that looked like Eusthenoptreron not too long ago?

There seems to be allot of guess work in this.

  • ichthyostega had 6 toes on each hindfoot

  • Many scientists in the past were members of the church, believe it or not.

Galileo was a Fryer, Franklin was a Free Mason.

  • @spectre111 galileo was alos persecuted and put under house arrest for 30 years because he suggested the heliocentric theory

  • Man, 416 dislikes and there is rougly the same on this whole series. I think it would be best if you disabled ratings because someones putting 400 thumbs down on each of your channels.

  • "Half fish, half tetrapod" lol.

  • The Bible has its place, it teaches us some important moral values and ways of compassionate communication that should be comprehended by all of us. But interpreting 2500+ year old text written by dozens of people as science sounds crazy. He is absolutely correct, if we were to continue to view a book that holds 1/2 fairy tale, (Old Testament) as complete truth AGAIN, it would be sad, and dark. All historical text has a chance to show us ancient info that should be considered, not held high.

  • i like how they put it flatly. the contest is between creationists and science. the former is not the latter

  • Gish is a massive tool

  • There was a flood after the ice-age? just add on to your religious book then is it? Jeez! I'm pulling my hair out it's so irritating!

THIS. Listen?, THIS... Is an evolution video. There's no god, jesus and whatever else there is involved in evolution... Okay? Religion is religion. Evolution (Truth) is evolution. I was brought up reading theBible and it was a load of rubbish and I ended up burning it to prevent it getting into a second hand shop and someone else having it.

  • lol!

He just said this scientist was a creationist?

    Talk about a contradiction.

  • @felixlighta

    He is an anti-scientist.

  • When was this made? There are plenty of transitional forms.

  • For every Gish there are 10K real scientists. So just ignore him.

  • 4:50 - They make it sound as if mutations are more frequent in times of environmental change. I don't see why that would be.

Isn't it simply that there are more opportunities for mutants (that are always present) to thrive in the new niches that open up?

  • Yes. That's pretty much the idea behind punctuated equilibrium.

  • "They make it sound as if mutations are more frequent in times of environmental change."

That's not correct. The mutations are there but if the enironment is stable then the mutations are less likely to be of benefit.

  • That's one problem with the mutant-explanation: it's incomplete. Most evolutionary theorists lean toward theories of gradual genetic drift over mutation.

  • What are you talking about? Drift and mutation

aren't like alternative hypotheses! They are different phenomena. Drift is a statistical description of population genetics, like how polymorphisms track over time, how neutral and near neutral alleles assort given the stochasticity of sampling error.

Mutation is a change in the DNA.

    These are different things.

  • ''Shows how one animal can mutate into another'' WTF?!?

DNA mutates, animals don't mutate to evolve.

  • Wow could they give a more bastardized description of evolution?

  • I agree. VERY badly explained.

  • @goodderf i dont know wht bastardized means but i can guess.the presentation is great -BuT a Miracle Happened. like holywood movies' fragmans :)

  • Gish may be a credentialed scientist (and I recognize his credentials), but he doesn't seem to understand Evolution itself.

  • No creationists do.

    That's the problem.

  • @kris01987 Gish is a tool and a liar.

  • @kris01987 He's probably paid off.

  • @kris01987 i think u 2 dont understand the theorey yourself

  • @YAACOV2009 Oh really? What have I said that shows my lack of understanding? Or are you just making an attempt to defend Gish?

  • @kris01987 Gish not only does not understand, but only sees what he wants to see.

  • @kris01987 because he trys not to

  • Isn't EVERY animal that has ever lived a "transitional form"?

  • Technically, though they now apply 'transitional form' to only specific combinitions of traits.

And true... But I also suspect he's lying. If he's qualified to give his oppinion and had a point, surley he'd have the Nobel Prize, or at least some peer reviewed papers that recieved inordinate amounts of attention.

  • Anyone can make a video... : )

  • lol Welcome to YouTube

  • Yes, but creationists want to see transitions between the "kinds" of animals that happen to live in this era.

  • Who cares what evidence they want?

  • Goodness Gish isn't that scary. lol

  • 7:00

    LULZ

  • Chance mutations happens to DNA, not species. This guy does a poor job of explaining evolution. Nothing living is planning to change into something else.

Evolution is not random, it is ruled by natural selection.

  • Secondly, this guy did a doctorate in biochemistry then claims there are a) ONLY fully formed example of major groups of animals and b) no transitional forms?

Do you not need to learn what a transitional form IS in that course? If not, why's he giving his opinion?

  • His educational level is irrelevant if he is psychotic.

  • *beats head on floor* Too many definition slip-ups already and I hate this sensationalist spin! Pity I'm interested regardless. :p I'm gonna give myself concusion.

  • I hate when they over dramatize science, especially evolution. They make it sound like one specific event turned a swimming fish into a walking tetrapod over a few generations. Because evolution is so misunderstood, it is crucial we be completely honest and explain it as clearly and accurately as possible.

That biochemist is a dumbass, at least when it comes to evolution and paleontology.

  • Hispanics are half white you dumb piece of shit, a lot of Hispanics are descendants of Spanish or Portuguese. Im hispanic italian and I seriously take offense from what your saying, particularly because I know a lot of people who live here who are far more intelligent than your average "white american".

So please stop pulling statistics out of your ass and stop generalizing.

  • Everyone shut the fuck up and watch the video. Evolution happens, if you don't like it, you can get back to your fucking bible.

  • Mortison, I think you underestimate the effects of environment on biology. A child's development will be heavily influenced by pollution, lack of space, stress due to violence, and other factors found in poor neighborhoods. Even pre-natal development can be affected; many things are passed from a mother to her unborn child. Such factors can easily prevent a child from reaching his or her full potential.

  • And because the child is "inferior," they are unable to leave the poor neighborhood, and the cycle repeats for another generation. Racism forced (and often still forces) minorities, especially blacks and latinos, into poorer environments. Then, standardized tests show poorer scores for these groups, and people say "Aha! We were right! They are worse!" It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

  • No i didn't get it backwards, have you ever heard of white flight, and redlining? Racism, and discrimination was legal not so long ago, and in fact those practices are still practiced today. And it has nothing to do with genetics, the environment around them accepts violence as a part of life. Also if you pay attention the whites in those poor areas are just as prone to violence as everybody else. And i need to learn some manners?!? You're a racist!

  • Ploitical Violence is justified? Its not like the crusades were to protect our own skin, violence is violence unless its defense. And crimes rates are worse there because the people are less educated and poor not because of their race. Take a political science course before you spew garbage out of your mouth.

  • Ok so lets ignore history where we can clearly see white people have been very violent and screwed up most other civilizations and argue just this. Crime rates are highly based on where you live. For example poorer neihborhoods have higher crime because of a less educated and happy group of people. Well hispanics unlike whites asians tend to live there more because hispanics countrys are poor and asian countries are richer and have a better education system. Also people conform to stereotypes.

  • IQ tests are generally culturally centered, mainly because it depends on the common sense of where you've been raised, what are the IQ scores you're comparing can you cite it via pm? Also, they have mostly originated from Europe after killing and enslaving the natives there. So are you saying that the Spanish in Europe also have this problem? I don't see any reason to think this mainly because if your claims are right, then Africans would most likely be pretty stupid which isn't true. :\

  • What are you basing that off of? .

  • Their definition of a transitional form is horrible. This kind of disinformation just serve to give creationists the incentive to create stupidities like crocoduck.

  • If Dr. Gish needs some proof of transitional forms, all he need do is examine the difference between 21st century human skeletons and, say, 14th century ones. The average height of Europeans who lived only 700 years ago was up to 6 inches shorter than that of modern Europeans. This is evidenced in the height of Medieval doorways, in the size of their armor and so on. Transitional forms need not be so entirely different from their descendants to qualify as "links" from one form to another.

  • Wait, why is Sibelius' Finlandia playing in the background? Jarvik wasn't secretly a Finn, was he? :D

  • It's a pretty comical combination, I have to admit :D

but maybe only Finns see the humor...

  • entertaining and informative but kinda overly dramatic.....

  • OMFG! HI DWAYNE!!

Its so funny how evil they make him out to be. lol

  • Yeah but where is he gonna take that exactly? I mean you can't exactly say "Evolution commands you to kill people who dont believe it and to stop using medicinal herbs because they are the work of the anti-evolution!!"

and then use that position to take over. No you need supernatural fear to do that kind of thing. Evolution can't torture you in the non-afterlife. Gods on the other hand...

  • It is an obvious exaggeration, but I think that the basic principle is true. If religion is given greater credence than scientific data, than society is choosing faith over reason. Anything else that is less objective would be permissable. Morality and science would be completely dictated by scripture just as was done in Medieval times.

  • It's horrible that they included creationists in this video, it distracts us from the truth.

  • Well, nicely done, but suggesting that there (a) exists a creationism vs. science debate that is to be taken serious and (b) suggesting that science winning hinges on finding some "transitional" form or other gives the creationists a totally undeserved status.

  • votebot?

  • This part suggests that the evidence for evolution is dependent on fossils, wich is bullshit. Fossils are nice to show laymen, and are interesting, but we have other means of knowing about evolution.

And for goodness sake, why were they interviewing people, who think the universe was created in a week? Has anyone spoke to a fruit-dealer snake lately?

  • 6:54 is so awesome! :)

  • y, funny^^

  • I'd heard lots about the votebots, I knew that they arn't hard to make and that there are lots of people willing to use them for plenty of different reasons.

Still, until I watched this series I hadn't seen what it looks like when "Downvotes For Jesus" (my name for the creationist brand of votebot) hits a video before it gains popularity.

It's a futile attack in the long run, pathetic in both its reasoning and execution.

Remember, Downvote me for Jesus! Because you definately speak for him...

  • dj, although it seems very low and creationist like I suggest you censor ratings for one day and then repost, the votebot effects will be gone and you will show the creator of this votebot he has wasted his time and money.

  • Great show. Thanks for posting this!

  • What's the difference between people that votebot down comments that they don't agree with and clergy in the middle ages that burned outspoken women as witches?

  • It's the same principle except a YouTube video doesn't weigh the same as a duck.

  • This would have to be the best reply/joke ever. Great video and a lovely sense of humour, mate. Cheers!

  • @djarm67 does that mean youtube is a witch ?

  • @djarm67 man thank you so much for uploading this!!!

  • I am currently experiencing creationist votebot and comment rating activity on this series "Tetrapod Evolution"

Please rate, comment, favourite and feature this video series.

    DJ

  • who the hell is voteboting? every single comment has at least 2 thumbs down, and why does this and only this series have less than 2 stars?! all djarm's other playlists have an average of 5 stars!

and i'm willing to bet that this comment will have thumbs down, though i'm saying nothing you can disagree with.

  • @GodlessHippie OK- I'll vote it down just so you can feel vindicated! That said; what if someone disagrees with the science and is from a different view scientifically? Should they still approve of it even though they have valid diffeerences with the methodology or theory? How about you tone down the arrogance and paranoia?

  • @vinha1006 There is a huge difference between giving a video 1 thumbs down to show disbelief in it and setting up a votebot to continuously add thumbs down votes and flag all the comments as spam.

but to answer your question, no. if you disagree with evolution or any concept really, you should speak your opinion. But that doesn't mean you have to dislike all content explaining such concepts. THATS arrogant.

  • @GodlessHippie - I'll go with that last part for sure. My complaint with each side is the same- tunnel vision and refusal to acknowledge inconsistencies that need explication. The creationists and scientists need to heed how a cook book is written. A page for ingredients- a page for how. Neither school has bothered to understand that the second page has not been completely printed and/or read yet. I suggest to all that they read an old SF story by Robert Silverberg, "Thomas The Proclaimer"

  • Very true! Creationists do nothing but move the goalpostes.
