The Audi Rosemeyer needs to exist as a car to sell.
And it needs to look like the Stromlinie. Not like the Rosemeyer concept from a while back, but the Stromlinie: the clean lines, the arches, the back that looks like it could be a huge-ass diffuser...
I'd accept no other tribute for the man than that. Audi, you have the resources. Who cares if it means you're elbowing for room with VW and the Bugatti Veyron? Do it!
That´s the great things about nazis, they made great cars and tecnology about everything! Just take a look on nazi scientist like Wernher von Braun, he put the man on the moon!
@MarcioBortolotto as soon as they could keep "politics" out of their heads, they were able to achieve a lot in the field of art and technology. Ideology would only put the brakes on everything, though the Nazis claimed any success for themselves. This ignorance is the topic of present discussion on any of them: writers, musicians, actors, sportsmen, pilots, engineers...
@Jeansschwimmer - Ideology helped in this case. Others ideologys close to the nazys, others totalitarians regimes, but just the nazis reach this level. They were 25 years ahead minimun in tecnology, well, in everything.
@MarcioBortolotto You are neither not knowing what you say or you talk yourself into believing that stuff. Have you got any idea how deep that "braindrain" was for Germany that the Nazis caused? Half of the German intelligence was forced into exile! Einstein was just one name that anybody knows. even during the war many things got developed secretly because the "Greatest Fieldcommander of all Ages" had forbidden any development that was not ready for the front within 180 days.
@Jeansschwimmer - You can dislike the Nazis, but we can't denial that them was ahead in tecnology, army and many things. Easy to see. Otherwise how can a small country, like Germany, can almost defeat many powerfull countries that fight against them? And why Nasa put Wernher von Braun as his director? Thanks to the Nazis with his scientists and tecnology USA could "won" the space race! Or this beaulty that runs 435km/h in 1938!? They were ahead!
@12valvepower1 no spoilers held themon the raod at higher speeds, that is why Rosemeyer's car was virtually lifted by a gust of wind and flew off the road.
brakind system and steering were primitive: even with leather gloves the race pilots had bloody hands after a race.
oh my god. No words need to be spoken to understand the beautiful history of these racing machines, their beauty, performance and incredible legacy. The cars speak for themselves. RIP Bernd Rosemeyer, you are still sorely missed to this day.
The fellow being interviewed, Bernd Rosemeyer Jr, was born just a few weeks before his father was killed in the streamliner. And the girl in the headscarf at 1.30 and 2.40 was Elly, Bernd Jr's mother and Rosemeyer's widow, who passed away in December last year, aged 100!
wundebare Sache - Bernd was hte FIRST man, who di more the 400 km/h on a the street in a car - as a matter of fact: the day he died, he set a new absolute world-Speed record by 433 km/h !!! over 71 year ago !!!
i don't know but i'm guessing it might be at a auto union memorial and museum somewhere in germany - it would be great to see - the cars were way ahead of their time!
the interview with the son of Bernd Rosemeyer and the stromlinien car is filmed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 1999 for our TV-magazine "Faszination Oldtimer / Vintage Car World".

Those cars weren't just a step forward, they were a giant leap forward. They are still some of the best looking cars of all time.
