There is a quick simple solution to global warming. It is called Muon Catalysed Fusion. As worked on by Star Scientific. NO CO2. NO Greenhouse Gases. NO Toxic Waste. WE NEED IT NOW. The source is deuterium from the World’s Oceans – virtually limitless. It is cheap to produce."..could cost as little as 0.9c per kilowatt" See blog "the Big Picture by Andrew Horvath" July 01 post.

Ocean acidification may affect some plankton. It doesn't affect all plankton. You may be able to change the dominant species. This isn't going to upset anyone other then some of the plankton. Plankton grows in fresh water and no imagined degree of ocean acidification will reduce the ph of the oceans to that of fresh water. Ocean ph varies widely according to location and varies significantly even over time periods as short as hours. But despite the facts, yes it must be true, we are all doomed.
@capemall '..no imagined degree of ocean acidification...to that of fresh water', I now see what you mean.
But any case, acidification will hurt any sea creature with a calcium containing shell, and the oceans might not be able to take ever more amounts of CO2.
@PacificCircle1 There are studies that show it hurts some. The problem is the evidence doesn't back up the studies. Coastal regions are already more acidic (less basic) because of acid rain then they would ever be from just co2 addition, yet where are the studies showing the shell-less crabs walking around? It's the same geniuses that claim co2 will cause the end of life in the oceans that want to pump sulphur into the atmosphere. If that doesn't give you pause I'm not sure what would.
@PacificCircle1 Well you will have to excuse me for my lack of education. So when people come up with plans to inject aerosols into teh atmosphere to combat global warming what will the aerosols be made of exactly?
@capemall Aerosols are any particle tiny enough to float about.
Your last reply show you'er are knowlegible, i think it is just how you put it all together.
I've not heard of injecting aerosols - i quess it it some 'pie-in-the-sky' concept to capture Co2 - are kooky notions on both hard left on hard left and right.
@PacificCircle1 It's not what I say that confuses you, it's what you read. The problem is I have a lot more knowledge on the topic and to you it seems like babble. You probably should start by reading up on the basic concepts of earth's energy balance, aerosols being considered a major contributor to that balance.
@capemall heat is fuel of weather. Aerosols has more to do with smog and nuclei.Your slights are noticed, I'm just not gonna wast my time with you any more.
@PacificCircle1 My slights? You called someone that has a first name of doctor uneducated. I thought I was being rather mild in return. But by all means don't waste your time talking to me. Your time would be much more usefully served reading on the topic you intend to argue about.
@PacificCircle1 So since you don't understand my argument you now resort to co2 is a GHG as an arguement as if I had said it wasn't. Perhaps you should argue the earth isn't flat to really impress me.
I think the hotter temps are from one or two things 1. The earths crust is warming up ! 2 . The sun is very active now with solar flares ! Just my opinion I do not think it is because of carbon /cars !
Climate change is here, a it is not the fault of 'sinners'

@capemall 27 billion TONS of co2 (-minus terrestrial absorbtion) = Ph change.
Unaviodable summation of a chemical equation.

@PacificCircle1 I don't see anything in my argument that states the pH won't change. Perhaps you can elucidate on the significance of your comment.

@capemall Per sentence.
1 Right 2 work in progress 3. in Cal, it is from gold mines and acid rain - shell less crabs who molted would not be fit.
4. Only wacko types make such claims - i've never even heard of this sulfur thing.
Most of us educated types know better - no not give me pause.

@capemall No confusion, you just wrong. Doc is not first name, it is a title -got-chatcha.
Co2 retains heat - more co2, more 'blankets'.

@capemall Aerosol absorbers injection notions would entail vast fleets of planes - never happen.
I say we need to understand problem, and respond in a sensible manner.
