This is great for MacBook users, but in some cases buying this with a MacBook depending on which one you want can be more expensive than the iMac so for a desktop it's best to go for the iMac.
Thanks, Mike. Are you still happy with it? I want to get one as a second monitor next to my iMac. But, that inch difference does get to me, lol. Plus, can I get one that is easier on the eyes?
Always enjoy your videos. Hope to see many more starting in March! iPad3's. :)
@CazKnowsTech Incorrect, Size wise yes, Pixel density No. The resolution on this monitor is top notch and there are only a few others out there with the same resolution and they are more expensive than the Thunderbolt display and the Cinema Display. If you was to use a tv for a monitor of this size the resolution would be terrible and distorted, you might achieve 1920X1200 if you are lucky but, this is rare. These displays resolutions are 2560X11440. :)

@CazKnowsTech Also, if you compare the two side by side you will notice the terrible quality of the TV and coming from my professional experience in the Graphic Design world. The higher the resolution the better and easier it is to work on projects for clients. More room for palettes, canvas, etc. Plus everything is a hell of a lot more clear and less pixelated.

Hey download App Trailer in the Appstore and enter the code Am3r1ca16. You'll get 50 extra points, So you can get gift cards like itunes and Amazon cards
@KarrbonPL if your PC has Thunderbolt it does. you just have to instal apple software to make it work. Otherwise I recommend going for the LED Cinema Display.
Hey I noticed you have the klipsch promedia speakers, I have the same ones. I was wondering how the sound quality compares between the thunderbolt display and the klipsch? Also do you know if theres a way to plug them into the display? I'm planning on getting a macbook pro and a TBD to take to college next year and the less cables I'll have to plug in the better!
@TheBlipGamer You can indeed. Just set ScreenFlow to record your Thunderbolt Display and launch Mincraft up on it. You could also shut the MacBook so it is your primary desktop running as if it was it's own computer, but off the MacBooks strength. Then it will be recording that display, not your closed MacBook's display haha. Hope this helps you!
Dude, this is the best review of this device I have seen on Youtube. Nicely done, very informative and to the point. The only thing I would have highlighted is that the price is very reasonable for a display of that size and resolution. But seriously, you are a great reviewer!
@arrowhead474 i agree, they are expensive, however, they are WORTH the price. in reality, if you compare similar products such as the Acer Zenbook (an attempt by acer to imitate the macbook air) you will find them to be around the same price as the macbook air (about $1000+). Similarly, if you compare other 27 inch displays, most displays with this resolution will cost you $850+. so in comparison to products of the same category, apple products are only slightly more expensive but work perfectly
@bobphillips99 Well there's a couple of problems with that. An ASUS(not Acer) Zenbook is about $300 cheaper with equal hardware and utilizes more up to date hardware. And with the monitor, I built as close to the Specs of my PC as possible (Apple isn't updated enough to match %100). If I were to go and drop $850 on a monitor, the Apple would STILL be about $1000 more expensive. And it's a shame really, you have a nice resolution on the 27", but next to no programs can utilize it (with OSX neway)
For those who do not want to buy two computers. Instead, they buy one computer and an external screen that costs almost the same as an iMac. Yes, that's reasonable. ;)
hey bro let me ask you this i'm planing to buy a new macbook pro but i have a 27 inch cinema display soo do you think it's possible?? because i dont think apple will be soo stupid that a 1000 dollars display wont work with the new machines ?? thx please let me know :)
Strange that they don't offer a 21inch version. Pretty sure this is the exact same IPS Display used on the 27" iMac. Surely they could do the same with the 21" to provide a lower cost option?
why don't they make it slimmer?can't they make it slimmer? If they made it like waaay thinner, like new normal lcd screens,or led or whatever and still had the same ports and and webcam then it would sell way more
Shame is doesnt work with the MDP, i would love one for my 27" imac, i do think they made i mistake by not designing it to be the same height as the imac, as i bet thats what many people buy it for, as a second display
I see.. so even with the feet turning yellow after time, is it still a good case and worth it? also couldn't u just pop the feet out and use it without feet?
@alanthemusicnerd I'm using the Spec See-Thru case, I love it...but the plastic feet have faded to a yellow color on all of them...I have a review of these on my channel.
That was definitely one of the best videos I have seen in a while. Also, it looked like an old white iMac type style when you could see it inside the box. That would be cool if apple brought out some type of new white product. Great HD quality video.
I look forward to your mac pro unboxing and review when the time happens for system refresh or update. After seeing a 2011 27" iMac in person the thunderbolt display (as I can imagine) must be just as gorgeous and phenomenal :)
one of my good friends just purchased an 27" i5 iMac, and the screen is so huge n awesome! The resolution is superb! Way above 1080p. He films with an canon EOS 7D for work n home movies and I must say 1080p really shines on a "27 iMac.
@PS3DUDE290 They had Display Ports instead of Thunderbolt Ports (they look the same). Unfortunately the Thunderbolt displays are not compatible with display port. The Cinema Display is the one you would want, but those have been discontinued.
@Gazooo29 The Ethernet port is especially for Macbook Air users. The Macbook Air doesn't have an Ethernet port so if you have an ethernet cable, you can just plug it into the display without buying those ethernet to usb adapters.
@ DetroitBORG If there is another thunderbolt port connector. Will it work if you two macs on the display. It's like you use the thunderbolt connector wire with a MagSafe connector on your MacBook air and use the thunderbolt connector on the display to connect the iMac.
@robertdevald All Apple screens are high-quality like most Apple products. Another point is Thunderbolt! It supports the 6 Ports on the back, the camera and a microphone, speakers and the display itself. It's just one cable. Also it supports the MacBook power cable. For MBA user the Ethernet-Port is a great plus.
But I would really buy another screen, too. Just too expensive for a screen, but wouldn't say there isn't any point!
@AnexTechnologys even though its a "smaller" display, due to the pixel density, you can display more on this 27' display, it will beat ANY tv as they are only 1080p and this display is 1440p (2,073,600 pixels in the tv vs 3,686,400 pixels of this display) almost twice as much "real estate" as even the biggest 60+ inch tv!
What graphics card does this have? 1GB or 2GB AMD Raedon? Or is it a different one?

Why is everyone buying this overpriced monitor? I love apple stuff but this is over the top.

too expensive for an external monitor.

Great video! But in the next video, mention yourself in google+ instead of just twitter.
