Amazing, awesome, magnificent, exquisite beyond talented, wonderful and any other existing superlative in all languages!! All this and a down to earth "real" person and gracious woman. I've had the good luck to see her in person about 10 times-that Anthony Minghella production of MB (with the puppet) that she sang in was unbelieveable. My favorite opera singer! Her vissi d"arte in Tosca makes you want to cry...SF Opera Fan
I have been listening to "un bel di" since 1965 and this one is a WOW. I get to see her in Tosca this Sat.urday at the Met. She is replacing another singer who is sick. I think the audience gains on this one. (hope the other singer recovers soon)
Wow this is great! Her voice is like a combination of Beverly Sills and Susan Larson (for those REAL american opera buffs will know who she is)! The best Butterfly performing today hands down!
We heard Patricia sing last night at the Dvorak Festival. She sang a song from Russala. Her voice was beautiful and clear, but it had warmth. She is an expressive performer.
Last night I met Patricia Racette backstage in Chicago. Wanted to thank her for 2 Butterflies - Chicago and Met - The interaction with the puppet in NYC made me cry. She is a wonderful singer and gracious person.

After all the hype, this is disappointing. The voice lacks the requisite purity for this piece, to say the least, and displays a disturbing wobble and odd "pitchlessness" for a younger singer. Is this really the best Butterfly we can find these days?
Bravisima! I just saw Madama Butterfly a week or so ago at the San Diego Civic Theatre! It was absolutely amazing, and I couldn't believe it. I've never seen EVERYBODY give a standing ovation before, NEVER, but EVERYBODY did it for Racette. Wonderful.
Hey, more people here who saw the HD telecast of the Met last saturday! Me too, in Holland!! It was awesome, I took my mom and we were both crying for beauty directly from act I.
At 83 I have seen and heard so many great CioCioSans. Patrice Racette is one of the tops. Her aria at the end of Act lll was out of this world beautiful
People were sobbing out loud yesterday. I don't think I've ever has such an experience in the theater. PURE MAGIC, she's the best American Singer working today.
I know! I haven´t had this kind of experience ever before either...I was totally dragged into this story, I had seen it before, but not with Lacette, not like that...I won´t ever forget it
I saw her as Butterfly this past weekend in Chicago. She was wonderful! It was my first time attending the opera, and I'm so happy that I had the privilege of attending such a phenomenal performance. Even in the highest balcony, you could clearly see how much emotion she put into her singing.
She's was at the Chicago Lyric at the time. I saw her yesterday - it was sublime! You should let her know for me that the people on balcony 2 were giving her a standing ovation ;-)
She was simply fabulous in Madame Butterfly last season at the MET....if anyone has the chance to see it this upcoming season, please make sure you go because it is nothing less than a life altering experience. Wonderful!!!!
How could one not love this!?

This woman made a real opera fan out of me. Taking lessons because of her. Just to sing 1/millionth of how she sings!

I agree, I heard a bit of Sills in her more biting sound and the sweetness too... sorta like a lovechild of Sills/Larson with a bigger voice!

loud I think she saw me and smiled. This

ability was also WONDERFUL. I say once
