I just got mine in the mail today, and it's very locky. But I see theres are little locks on all the pieces on purpose, so I'll take mine apart and sand those down so it's smooth, without losing structural integrity.

How would you sand it? sandpaper? or is there an electric tool that does it rapidly?

Well I ended up using a tool called a Dremel with a spinning bit with a gritty surface. And it took them down, but if you do that, I would suggest not taking them down all the way because now mine tends to get stuck more, since they don t lock it into place. Im just gonna get a mefferts
